  • Hello Poseidon Fam, today we bring back yet another review to the channel,
    This time we are going to look at the Apeks RK3 HD fins that I bought a few weeks ago.
    I have to say that I have never owned Jet style fins before, although I have used them in a few occasions, this are the first one I actually own, and let me tell you that I'm super happy with the purchase!
    If you are looking to buy a pair of fins to use with your drysuit, or even with your wetsuit, maybe you are thinking into jumping on the Technical diving range and need new fins, or you just want to try something new.
    Then make sure to take a look at my review of the Apeks RK3 HD fins, as it will hopefully answer some of your questions.
    Also know that there are two different models of the Apeks RK3, the normal one which is lighter, and the HD version which is heavier and this is the one we are reviewing today.
    I hope you guys enjoy the review, and if you do, please make sure to drop a Like, let me know in the Comments what you think about it, and Subscribe to the channel if you haven't yet.
    Thank you again for stopping by, and I hope you stay with the Poseidon Fam for a while,
    As always, take care out there and I'll see you all in the Blue!

    Looks a lot like us divers rocket fins! They were good!

    • @PoseidonsAdventure
      @PoseidonsAdventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes they do, main difference is the weight and thus the stiffness of the fin, Apeks fins are lighter and less stiff than the US divers. But they work amazingly good 🤩
      Thanks for the comment 💪🏼🤗

    In my 4th year with my RK3's and I can't see myself finning any other pair. I'm a travelling rec diver and my RK3 provides everything I want in a pair of fins: sturdy, top quality, gives me great thrust, perfect for frogging, very maneuverable, neutrally buoyant and low weight (as any travelling diver I'm weight conscious). And...I bought my pair for only 30 Euros (!) from someone who had used them for only 10 dives ;-). Lucky me...!

      Definitely a great deal you got for this fins!! Happy to know that you are enjoying this piece of equipment as much as I do 🤗 And totally agree on this ones to be great for traveling, compact and lightweight make the perfect for those abroad dive trips 😎

    I bought the HD too, I'm going to try this saturday. The fins don't say HD in them, so I hope they are the HD

    • @PoseidonsAdventure
      @PoseidonsAdventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hola Hugo,
      Yes that’s one of the downsides, that there’s no way to differentiate the HD on a visual check as the fins looks Slee Scott the same as the other model. The only difference is the weight and the stiffness.
      I am still rocking them 😉 hope you like them! Have a good dive buddy! 🔱

    Im debating between this and the mormal version of the Rk3, i want the fins for scuba but sometimes i snorkel. Can you do snorkeling with this HD version? Does the negative buoyancy affect the legs when you are on top? thank you

    • @PoseidonsAdventure
      @PoseidonsAdventure  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Juan,
      they are not super heavy like other Jetfins, but this aren’t the best for snorkeling. If it’s an occasional thing then should be no problem.
      The HD are a little harder than the regular ones. So if you prefer stiffer fins, go for the HD.
      Thanks for the comment 🤗

    thanks for the video .. ne your advice here , I do warm water recreational diving with 3mm wetsuit and 2-5mm boots. I do face sudden moderate currents where I dive.. do you thinkl the standard RK3 can still handle such situations ? or shall I go for the HD version " weight is not an issue for me " ? how do you compare them to Jet fins ? thanks

    • @PoseidonsAdventure
      @PoseidonsAdventure  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Ahmad! Thanks for the comment 🙏🏽
      I would recommend the HD as they have a bit more thrust than the standard model. Main difference with Jets is that the Apeks are LESS heavy, but also LESS powerful although not by much. For warmer water diving I think the Apeks HD are a better option.
      If you do tech diving and plan on doing twinset and stage dives then maybe Jets will be best. But for recreational you can’t go wrong with the Apeks HD!

    Is that RK3 HD version nice for 5mm wetsuit? I want to buy a grey color but it seems grey color is HD. I can buy a regular version of RK3 like black. I will probably never use a drysuit but i like the grey color lol. Do you think it's ok to dive with a RK3 HD version and 5mm wetsuit?

    • @PoseidonsAdventure
      @PoseidonsAdventure  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mert, yes for sure it’s fine, the only thing you need to take into consideration is that the HD is a bit heavier than the regular one, but this should not be a problem if you know how to deal with heavy fins.
      Even with wetsuits this fins perform really good.
      Thanks for the comment and hope this is helpful 🙏🏽

    Good fin but don’t know why they missed the finger loop on the heel strap. Especially if it’s suited for drysuit diving which usually needs gloves. Not the easiest fin to put on and take off. If they included that, it would be the best fin

    • @PoseidonsAdventure
      @PoseidonsAdventure  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I feel you with that one, although I had no problems so far on grabbing the rubber flap with my fingers, but definitely a hole for the fingers would be easier for some people, but that would make that piece quite larger I think.
      Thanks for you comment 🙏

    • @divewithRJ

      @@PoseidonsAdventure I got these fins and personally they kick great. I got the grey colour and they really show every little scratch so black may be a better colour choice. I used to have fins with the loop on the strap and I really miss those. The flap isn’t as easy when your fingers are freezing numb and you just want to get them off

      Morante Apeks filled in the tab as cave and public safety divers were concerned about a slight intanglement hazard. However the great news is as others have stated you can easily take razor knife and cut the rubber out and have that finger hole if you prefer. Let us know if you get a pair and make the easy modification. Cheers, #SeattleRingHunter

    • @PoseidonsAdventure
      @PoseidonsAdventure  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi mate thanks for looking through the video,
      The biggest size they have is the XL/Super, which is supposed to fit up to size 13.
      Your best bet would be to go to a dive shop if you can and try them on, I used the L size with my dry suit, I’ve got size 11.
      Hope this helps with answer questions 🙏🏽🔱

    How do you think this would work with 5mm or 7mm wetsuits? too heavy or ok?

    • @PoseidonsAdventure
      @PoseidonsAdventure  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Miguel, not too heavy, this Fins are much lighter than the jet fins for example, so still very suitable to be used with wetsuits as well.

    Excellent review and polished video. I love the look and tech of these Apeks RK3 and as drysuit recovery diver I think this may be exactly the HD version what I will try very soon. I like the idea of the high side wall for frog kick and precision positioning. I work the sea floor in marine and lakes for most of my diving with single tank and pony bottle as well as metal detection gear. Drop by my channel and see some exciting recovery vids! --> 🤙 Cheers, #SeattleRingHunter
