I feel like this song is not just a regular song about sex, he put it in a beautiful and elegant way! Also this music video is hot loll I feel like If any other artist had done this it would've been nasty and disgusting but Michael turned this kind of song into a pure masterpiece, also apparently Madonna was originally thought of for being in this, I'm sooo glad she isn't, If she was in this, it would have definitely ruined the beautiful feeling of this song. “In The Closet” ~ Is a song by American recording artist Michael Jackson. It was released on April 9, 1992, as the third single from his eighth studio album, “Dangerous” (1991). The song was written and produced by Michael Jackson and Teddy Riley. The song isn’t about homosexuality it’s actually about those aspects of life one wants to keep it to himself or herself. Here it refers to sexuality. The woman here is desperately attracted to the man and she wants him. The man too is equally attracted- he can't avoid her as desire is burning in him. But he wants to keep whatever that happens between them to themselves. He doesn't want the world to know about it while the woman seems to be not so bothered about the world. If this is to relate to Michael Jackson's personal life, all we can conclude is that he wanted his privacy. He preferred not to talk to/in the public about his love relationships to the world- fair enough and very much rightfully so. Jackson originally intended to have Madonna feature on the track, and took her out for dinner three times in early 1991. On the failed collaboration, Madonna commented saying quote: “I think all he wanted was a provocative title, and ultimately he didn’t want the content of the song to live up to the title”. Engineer Rob Disner recalls approaching Michael after the meetings: “When I asked Michael later about her visit he said that she ‘scared’ him,” Madonna was replaced by Princess Stephanie of Monaco, who used her seductive speaking voice in lieu of Madonna-esque vocals. The song's female vocal was originally labeled "Mystery Girl" but was later revealed to be Princess Stéphanie of Monaco. The sepia colored music video was directed by Herb Ritts and features Jackson performing sensual dance routines with supermodel Naomi Campbell. I was really young when i knew this song. Even if im more in the Depeche sector and my father is into madonna, he used to play a lot of MJ, and this song surprised me a lot. You never see it coming by the soft beginning then the song progressively grows without warning and the singing of Michael is unbeateble. This is maybe my fav one of him, the instrumental is just perfect and fits fantastic with the voice.

you are right about it being aired late at night, the In The Closet short film premiered on tv at 11:15pm simultaneously on the ABC, MTV, BET, and VH1 networks here in America early Spring 1992 (because of the Black or White video controversy and media uproar). i was a nine year old boy at the time so, i couldn't stay up to see it. my dad did stay up to see it. i was in the car with my parents the next day and my mom asked him about the video. he said it was "very nasty". now i HAD to see it. i did finally see it a day or two afterward on the BET network during their afternoon daily music video programs (Planet Groove, i think). myself and several of the kids at my then babysitter's house turned the living room tv down and crowded around the tv to see it (because we knew we shouldn't have). we even tried looking up Naomi Campbell's dress on certain shots. it was a great moment to be a Michael Jackson fan. the song was not new to me though. i was gifted Michael's Dangerous album Christmas of 1991 and wore the cassette tape out by this point.

So happy that you finally reacted to this song and video. This is my all time favorite music video. It gives classic 90’s nostalgia. I love that the video was shot in sepia tone which also camouflaged Mike’s vitiligo while dancing in a tank top in the desert. Also loved the chemistry between Mike and Naomi. If you look up the behind the scenes video, you’ll see that Mike was just as nervous shooting the video as you were watching lol.

1) the song was written and composed by Michael Jackson and teddy Riley
2) they started working in the song in 1990 and this video was supposed to be a duet with Madonna. Michael called her and they jad 1 or 2 sessions but her ideas were too provocative so Michael cancelled the idea
(she wanted Michael to cut his hair also😡)
3) so Michael had the idea to make the female vocalist ( unknown) so when the song was released in the album, they referred to female singer as *mystery* *girl* . And by this idea , the audience will wait for the short film to see the female singer🥰🥰.
4) And the vocals of the original song belongs to princess Stephanie of Monaco who came to America to find good chances in singing🌸🌸

Think it was filmed in the Nevada desert. MJ's dancing is perfect for this song. Naomi Cambell does a great job as well.
What's truely cool is how this film is really beautifully filmed, with the dancers, the place, the angles, the light. And together with the music, it is so steamingly sexy. Now, compare it to other music films/-videos made on the topic of sex, attraction, sensuality etc and they need so much nudity or very much played out sex scenes that sometimes are borderline pornographic or somewhat degrading scenes and/or shock value. (This said, it's ofcourse different when women, transpeople or non-hetero people does this, since they are so bereft of their sexulity. I'm mainly comparing men's videos here.)
I mean, if you go through it footage for footage, they actually rarely even touch and like for half of the film they're mostly pictured separately. What they do, is making the most out of artistically portraying the sexual aching, longing build-up, that almost drives one mad, right up until one gets to touch. That's why it's such a climax when MJ swings down between NC's legs, even though honestly, they almost don't touch then either. If anyone else did that move, it would probably look like a puppy love flirt where one doesn't dare to actually touch and kiss, but just nervously plays around instead. THAT is however NOT how this comes across! Here it's sex full on, just symbolically. Even though, to me, the hottest footage in the film, is the one of MJ just before that one (at 06:34-35).
If you compare to the movie Dirty Dancing, they actually touch, like alot, while dancing dirty.

Okaaaay I've watched. The woman is British Supermodel Naomi Campbell. Definitely one of the great beauties of this time period, and she's still quite gorgeous. Loved your reaction! Your eyes nearly popped out of your head when he swung underneath her legs. Yes it's very sexual. It was originally supposed to be a duet with Madonna, but Madonna wanted it to be even more sexual and wasn't understanding the subtlety Michael wanted. He went out on a couple dates with her around the time they were talking about working together and for a lot of reasons it didn't work out. Some day maybe you'll listen to the Rabbi Shmuley Boteach tapes of his conversations with Michael and laugh at Michael casually dragging Madonna but that's far in the future for you.
Anyhow.. behind the scenes of this video are worth looking at, but if you want your ears to stay innocent don't listen to the Acapella version of this.

Not a huge fan of this song despite Dangerous being my favourite album. Though once again great reaction Seph loved it :) p.s I went to the Dangerous tour in Glasgow as a child , this was not sung , but it was much better than the Bucharest version , though thankully there are so many others out there. What i mean is react to Copenhagen or the Norway concerts not that one lol
