  • This quick video compares a video by Phuket Word claiming that clouds are not lit from underneath at sunset to a picture I personally took that demonstrates the contrary. Enjoy.

Hi I was directed here from you by the thread in Phuket Word's video. As with so many of his videos and those of other flat Earthers his footage against the globe backfires and actually proves the globe. He only looked at the lower cloud, totally ignoring the higher cloud which was reflecting sunlight. In an earlier video on sunsets he actually claimed the red clouds were due to Red Shift. I should imagine he has taken such an embarrassment down by now.
Your footage was fine (what a back garden). I have recently taken to watching sunsets to understand the reflections and shadows. Quite often we can see cirrus and/or contrails lit up long after the Sun has set below the horizon. The thing to remember is that on a flat earth the Sun must always be above the horizon and can only disappear if it reaches vanishing point. Problem for them is that the Sun sets totally way before vanishing point.

pilgrimpater exactly. I saw the higher clouds in his video but decided to disregard them as they might be hard to positively identify as clouds, even though they obviously are. I am working on another response to one of his videos and it should be up soon. I appreciate you taking the time to write your comment, and thank you again for visiting!

Excellent picture of underlit clouds and even a shadow! The channel *Don't Stop Motion* has a cool video driving down the highway seeing Mt. Rainier shadow on the underside of clouds. It's really cool to see it as a video instead of just a still picture. Check it out watch?v=Bx05vdCQmb0

As I said, the wispy clouds that are white before sunset change colour.

Phuket Word how would you explain the shadows projected upon the bottom of the higher clouds in my photo? Maybe I’m just not seeing your point on your photo, can you explain further? It seems to just be a picture of “the sun not illuminating the bottom of clouds”, assuming you are ignoring the higher cirrus clouds that ARE being illuminated from below.

Last time I rode my bicycle across a bridge near my place. I said look, Sun shines at the underside. And then I said oh no!! It must be one of those self changing color bridges!

@@allgreymatters9341 Shadows expand. Clouds are highly reflective. The higher clouds extend farther so they channel the light reaching the lower and closer clouds casting the shadow. Basically, the sunlight is still projected from high in the sky.

@Phuket Word so new physics? Alternatively, wouldn't it make more sense that the earth is a globe and the sunlight is projecting from a level lower than the high clouds? Or is that not feasible? I’m willing to hear you out but to convince me that the image isn’t what it appears to be will require some kind of demonstration of an alternate.
