Dom, this is just amazing. I played around with Theme 1982, tweaked it a bit…. The possibilities to create songs or play existing songs in a different way are endless. I can’t get enough of the way it sounds! Endless improvisation with headphones and it feels like you’re in heaven!
Hi Dom, please provide us a master class course for Montage M sound design. Including all 3 engines with background information of their concepts and how to design different sound types. I would buy it immediately 😅. Really great work, I always enjoy your videos.
Great work, Dom. The 1982 patch & the other piano / shimmer patches were played with feel. I'm struggling to get hold of a montage here for my workflow; they're always on back order. Nevertheless, this is a lovely taster. 👍
I hope I'll get my montage m6 in the next 2 weeks. It's kind of funny to start with updating the new os. I believe the most interesting part of the new os will be the wavefolder, because it has its own envelope. I assume that will be nice for more aggressive sounds. I don't care that much about the shimmer... It often sounds "too much" and "overdone" in many cases.
Hey Dom, thanks for the video, could I request a video about SpectraLayers 11? A look at the features and capabilities of audio repair would be very interesting.
You didn't miss the series of 5 or 6 "New in SL11" series on the Steinberg's channel, did you? I believe they dropped them just yesterday. There's not much specifically about restoration, as they're focussed on new features only, but one of them shows some updated restoration features, like denoising and de-clipping speech, with A/Bing SL10 vs SL11. The new module pipeline feature should be useful, too: you can combine and apply a few processes in sequence, kinda the stuff which you likely apply as the initial rough pass when restoring a bunch of cuts of an old soundtrack. The vid also shows how you can now apply both individual processes and these macros or pipelines (I forgot their official name, sorry) in batch mode to multiple files and go about other business while it's churning them all one by one. I'm gonna get a demo and play with the new SL11 on the weekend, haven't had time yet, but it looks much more impressive that SL10 in the demo, and they could exaggerate it only so much 🙂 Interesting how it handles the real life tough source material. Maybe you'll make a series on audio restoration one day? 🙂It's a very niche speciality, and I don't even know if it's taught in courses or are there in fact any solid books about it. Or maybe I should start writing on it one day. It's practice without theory. As I'm seeing my retirement on the horizon, I'm thinking more often how poorly this craft is communicated between generations. Especially now, at the cusp when AI makes things possible which I thought of as being way out of reach for all of my previous working life!
Hello, big greetings to you great artist, I have to ask about the new montage M synth, as someone who played the old montage for a long time and was very happy with the speed in live performances, I am confused about the new model, it sounds better, it is improved on all fields, but it seems like a step back and a big handicap for how I use it (most colleagues I know). Why were the keys for physical page change removed? If I want to quickly change the perf during the performance from the first to the sixteenth page, do I need to click 16 times on the display? Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I'd like someone to explain, maybe I missed something. I would really like to play the montage again but it's a big problem for me. Thanks in advance for your reply.
One request is to make the Smart Morph Tetris looking display more like shimmering& reflective lake water in a sunset or other options like celestial space galaxies using the new internal additional DSP processing. The old Montage block and ugly colors doesn't fit with the new design. Shouldn't be very difficult to update to something worth staring at for hours. Make it memorizing.
@@DomSigalas this confuses the issue even further - I’m very aware of what OS means, however, Windows is @ 11, iPad/Phone @ 17, what devices or OS was expecting update to 2.0 on or about the time of this video? And, again, is this something that is available to all OSs currently compatible with Cubase?
@@DomSigalas thank you for clarifying, I must have missed that part. I’m not used to hearing the term OS being used for a device software update - typically I’ve heard it referred to as firmware update. Se la vie 😃🤘🏻. Thanks for ALL your work and wonderful insights - you really rock!
Korg Nautilus has string resonance. Roland Fantom has string resonance. Yamaha P-250 (released 2003) has string resonance. My Yamaha Montage 8 does not have string resonance. Why can this effect (VRM or VRM lite) not be added to Montage? It can't be the lack of computing power (see Yamaha P-250).
If you are designing sounds... Happy day! I have had the MX8 since day one, and it is truly incredible! Great work, Dom!
Same here! Sold my old Montage in Aug and held onto to the money until the ‘M’ came out in Oct.Loving it!
Love the Vangelis "quote": La Petite Fille de la mer

Oh, what a beautiful new toy you've got, Dom! You must have had so much fun designing sound for this incredible sonic powerhouse!
Dude that jacket is sick. It’s like the Ferrari of jackets.
I still use my old reverbs spx990, rev500, pro r3, they are still fun to use
I use my old spx990 too. And I really love my SY99 FM synth (spx990 in this synth included!)
Fantastic !!!!! NEXT : AWM2 MORPH !!!! For sure !!!!!! M rules !!!!
So beautiful. Amazing stuff going on there. Thank you!
Beautiful patches and that shimmer reverb is stunning!
Excellent work Dom
Amazing work Dom ☝
Thank you so much Moessieurs❤️
Holy cow dude you are literally the best person ive seen doing this. Amazing player and amazing sound designer. ❤❤❤ I love

Great sounds!
Hey Dom can you come out with a mixing course and do a deep dive on automation?
Dom, your sounds are awesome. 🎹🎛️🎚️🫶🏻🤘🙇♂️
You need to rework and redesign all the montage sounds 😅 Amazing !

Wonderful 💯
The CP80 sounds and vibe remind me of the British band Keane
Woul‘d be interested in the organ with that shimmer Reverb
When MontageM will be available in Europe? Any idea why dealers in Europe are not eligible to sell this monster?
wow. so good.

Could u please tell us if any of this is coming to montage/modx/+?
Shimmer is gonna be for next 10 years like gated reverb was in the 80s
Is cubase 13 better than cubsae 12 ?plz
He mentioned: “When you update to OS 2.0”. Is this something only available on Mac?
Initial batches will be distributed on microdrive cartridge for the ZX Spectrum only
OS= operating system :) it’s not the same as MacOS :)

Oh, so those people that already have the Montage M should be made to wait until ECERYBODY that wants a Montage gets them?

I would love to see you do a master piece with risee seaboard 2 or osmose keyboard. I think you would love making music with a mpe keyboard.
