I grew up in the southern part of the island on the east side where there were 100s of Japanese bunkers with mounted artillery. Back in the 90s we’d find ammunition there and all kinds of cool shit but anyways the Japanese were expecting American boots on the ground that never came. Well played America. It would’ve been a blood bath a mini Normandy beach type of fighting.
