    Interesting, if you are interested here is a list of beatles songs that use the line Cliches:
    - Michelle
    - For no one
    - While my guitar gently weeps
    - Lucy in the sky with diamonds
    - Magical mistery tour
    - A day in the life
    - Hello Goodbye
    - Something
    - Strawberry fields forever
    - Dear Prudence
    - Hey Jude
    Probably I didn't notice other times they used it, but is interesting how many times they used it and, thanks to the melody, it still sounded fresh.

      Nice. Great list. Michelle is obviously one of their best known line cliches because it's right at the forefront, right at the start of the song. But I didn't realise there were so many others. Good work.

      "All My loving" has a very cool line cliche in the refrain: c#min -> Caug -> Emaj (with B as the as the fifth), which is the tonic. Quite clever, imo.

      That's a good way to "hide" the progression. I forgot to mention Hey Jude, it has the progression after the "and any time you feel" part.

      By the way, the first example in the video, over Am, is exactly from “Something”

    • @sebastianschweigert7117
      @sebastianschweigert7117 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gettingkilt "Something" has two of them. The start of the verse is Cmaj-Cmaj7-C7 and the "I don't want to leave her now" is Am-Amaj7-Am7.
      It's not the exact same as the first example, because he goes to D instead of Am flat6. Same in the verse, it goes to F instead of C6.

    I had no idea what the name of a line cliche was. I totally have used this in music before though, I just didn't know the terminology of it. I had looked at another tutorial for but it only confused me. This was so helpful to me and you explained it very well! Love the jazz too. Thank you so much for this tutorial!

    With the tonic it's common for it to go Maj-Maj7-Maj6-Maj7-Maj. Like in Gentle on My Mind or Seasons in the Sun.

    thanks for the lesson! I always was curious about this concept. I often hear and play it, but without fundaments. You've helped me, thanks!

    Never knew that had an actual name. Though I'm not surprised, everything in music has a name :P Thanks for the lesson!

      @WalkThatBass  8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yeah, unfortunately - if a concept or idea exists, some academic has given it an overcomplicated and fancy sounding name.

    2:05 But didn't you point out in earlier lessons that the 3rd and the 7th are a chords guide notes? Not just the 3rd? What makes it acceptable to change the 7th here but not the 3rd?

    This is great! Thanks! Have you done a tutorial on borrowed chords yet? I didn't see one. If not, could you? That would be very helpful! Thanks again!

    Can stairway to heaven be considered as a line cliché?

    • @ben2nd
      @ben2nd 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sort of... i think... although to be honest I see it as more of a bass note movement rather than a line cliche as the chord changes after every movement. Although i am probably wrong as I'm a drummer lol
