    The point of ‘punch gate’ was that he didn’t hit her yet she set about on a campaign to have everyone believe he was a ‘wife beater’… yes that’s what she said about him at the time. She reported him in the diary room and then spoke individually to other housemates stating he had assaulted her. So rather than the ‘final thought’ being you shouldn’t hit women, it should be ‘don’t make up false accusations of serious crimes’. I watched this when it first aired and what Ryan Thomas went through in that house because of her was absolutely shocking, it was an outrage and it’s why it’s at the top of the list.

      It was horrible because she managed to convince so many of the other housemates to start with. Bb should have shown that footage in the house and nipped it in the bud but they were more concerned with ratings!

      They were "play fighting" both jokingly hitting each other. He punched her arm, everyone could see it was not a hard punch, it was playful. She made it seem like he really assaulted her. She knew he was the favourite to win and wanted him evicted. Since that show his career has continued to grow, while nobody sees her on TV anymore

    Regarding punch gate he never hit her, it was shown hundreds of times and next to no contact was made as they was both playing around. She made out that he full on punched her. It went on for days of her turning the house against him and tried to ruin his career. It was heartbreaking seeing Ryan being isolated from everyone and pretty much having a mental breakdown. She deserved everything she got when she came out.

    The last clip 'punch gate', the girl, Roxanne, made it up that Ryan hit her.. even though on the replay you can see he barely touched her, and it was done in a joking way, they were both joking around. She turned the other house mates against him with her lie. It got to the point that Big Brother had to say something inside the house. The she come out and apologised. It came out later that she had accused other people of similar things in the past.

      I was in a worst situation than that guy, a girl i knew accused me of assaulting her, i got arrested and it went to court. Whilst waiting for the court appearance she went around everyone i knew and turned ALL of them against me (i was completely innocent). The court case finally came and my lawyer ripped her story to shreds in the courtroom, he did such a good job that in the dock she admitted she made it all up.
      Her reason for trying to destroy me was because i gave her a knockback, i knew what kind of girl she was and wanted nothing to do with her, that infuriated her and decided to get revenge on me.
      When she admitted in the dock what she done the relief drain out of me so fast it overwhelmed me and i hit the deck.
      In the days that followed the people who she turned against me could not look me in the eye with shame and i have never spoken or even acknowledged their existance till this day.

    With punch gate, Ryan didn’t actually do anything wrong, Roxanne accused him of assaulting her and was trying to turn everyone against him literally using the words “woman beater” but because it’s big brother everything is filmed so the whole of the uk knew it was bullshit and were outraged. It was hard to watch, seeing what Ryan was going through.

  • @Lapinporokoira
    @Lapinporokoira 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    There is a male/male couple competing right now on SCD and they're very good
    I watched that series of BB with Ryan and Roxanne. She was nasty. He was just being playful with her in front of half the house and the moment she was alone she begged BB to call her to the BB chair. So it looked like Big Brother decided to step in. Then she basically lied and cried and spied private conversations so she could come across as much as a victim as possible. Ryan Thomas was actually brought to tears a couple of times as she turned everyone against him .
    So satisfying to hear the shouts on eviction night of get Roxanne out. You could see how much it meant to Ryan that he has so much support outside.

  • @joeypinkpants5203
    @joeypinkpants5203 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    You've never seen a full grown adult male, break as hard as Ryan did during 'punchgate'. It was actually heart breaking, he honestly thought his entire life, career, relationships etc were over, right then and there, the devastation just swallowed him completely and he was broken and sobbing his heart out the entire time.
    She labelled him a wife beater, claimed he'd whacked her _so hard_ she then took each housemate aside in private and attempted to have them join her 'side' and ruin Ryan, she was extremely dangerous because we were watching first hand, a woman play fighting one minute, laughing and joking... then 1 minute later, walk into a bedroom and whisper into her mic that she wanted big brother to call her to the diary room.
    They called her in, and at that very second EVERYTHING just suddenly exploded, from absolutely nowhere whatsoever. The lies she put into her story were flowing way to easily, it was mind blowing. We had been watching absolutely everything, big brother had seen it all on camera, yet she would not stop with the BS.
    Roxanne Pallette ended up leaving the bb house and for the first time in its history, a contestant was evicted without a live audience, in fact she didn't have ANYONE there apart from the host Emma Willis, she tore into her, made her answer to everything, and I think it was only at this point, she finally began to realise how deep into her lies she was, and how her career and life as she knew it, had just ended at the hands of herself. On the live final, each of the contestants that were evicted were shown the actual footage of it all going down and one by one they realised the severity. Ryan went on to win that series, and when he seat down to his interview he broke all over again, except this time it was because he knew at that moment just how many people had seen or heard about it, and how every single one of them were backing him fully, and stood by his side. It was such an emotional ending, but one that absolutely NEEDED to play out in that way, not just for Ryan's sake, but for victims everywhere that were thinking they were forever tarnished because of such a disgusting, vindictive and dangerous lie being spread about them.
    They really didn't cover it well in the video you watched, but it was _to this day_ the WORST case shown on TV of a woman blatently lying about DV and being a victim of an abusive male. The entire country were outraged, give it a search on here to watch the entire thing as it happened. You'll have to pick your jaw up off the ground! Roxanne had multiple people come out afterwards saying they too had been a victim to her fabrications, and she's not been really heard of ever since leaving. Her career was just done. And good bloody riddance!!!

  • @driving_all_over
    @driving_all_over 3 ปีที่แล้ว +57

    Re the last one, Ryan was joking around but didn't touch Roxanne when he did it. The problem is that she was fairly manipulative and tried to turn the others against him which led to him being in tears and when she was interviewed by Emma after she walked they had to do it without a crowd in fear on what would happen. It later emerged that she had done similar things in the past.

    Brass Eye was excellent satire. That one got slated by an MP who brought it up in parliament, afterwards admitting they hadn't seen the episode. The drug "Cake" episode was also brought up in parliament because the MP hadn't done any basic research, "Cake" didn't exist.

However they were lied to, IIRC, and the producers had manipulated them into doing the pieces to camera. It's not quite how Brasseye want you to see it.

    No. 9 about drag queens was nuts. When I was growing up in the 70s and 80s, drag queens were family viewing. The biggest one on TV was Paul O'Grady, AKA Lilly Savage and he was on prime time Saturday night TV.
    I guess it was the dancing that did it.

    • @Phil_A_O_Fish
      @Phil_A_O_Fish 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @David Davies, you're obviously right about drag queens but if you go back even further than that to the 1960's and early 1970's who among us can ever forget Danny La Rue, Dick Emery, Stanley Baxter and especially Les Dawson and Roy Barraclough with their hilarious Cissie and Ada characters and sketches? Oops, I almost forgot Kenny Everett dressed up as Cupid Stunt as well.
      "....and then ALL of my clothes fell off - but it was all done in the best POSSIBLE taste! " - Kenny Everett
      " Ooh, you are awful....but I like you! " - Dick Emery
      My how times have changed especially when you consider that Stanley Baxter dressed up as the Queen during one of his sketches and tried to smuggle the Crown Jewels through Customs, didn't (s)he? There wasn't a public outcry about that because we all saw it for what it was - just comedy, didn't we?

    • @daviddavies3637
      @daviddavies3637 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Phil_A_O_Fish Of course. How could I forget Kenny? I used to love his shows. There was also the serialised sketch that The Two Ronnies did, titled "The Worm has Turned," where they were dressed up in women's clothing.
      The point is that it wasn't a big deal back then, which is actually bizarre because people were more conservative in their views by today's standards. Some of it might be the fact that there was so much of it on TV that we were desensitised to it. Because there's now very little, people blow a fuse over it.

For nearly all of the show it was pretty much debunking the supposed incidents of ghosts in the house, then it went crazy at the end. The problem with those ‘top ten’ compilation videos is that they don’t explain the story enough or give enough context. The explanation for each one is too brief. The Kim Woodburn one for example didn’t really explain much of what happened on Loose Women, or in the CBB house. Glad to see the Roxanne Pallet story made number one though. That situation was truly awful, & had it not been for the camera’s, would have completely ruined a man’s life. Although, I am not sure why they kept showing Ben Jardine whenever they mentioned Ryan Thomas. I just need to add though, that yes it goes without saying that men should not hit women. But the point of the Roxanne story is that he did not actually hit her. She literally made the whole thing up! After it happened, several previous co-stars of hers (from both stage shows & tv) came forward to say that she had done a similar thing to them

      It's because its from a WatchMojo video. That channel is pretty notorious for not bothering to do much research or fact check anything because they pump out about 3 or 4 videos A DAY. They don't have time for all that lol.
      They're also known for not actually having much of a clue about the subject matters they talk about, hence the lack of context. They probably don't 'get it' themselves! They only care about pumping out clickbait-y content

    I think the gay thing will never go away as it's human nature. If you are heterosexual you can't understand or comprehend why two of the same sex could have a sexual relationship because they don't have those feelings, in fact the opposite. All they can do is 'tolerate' it. Some can and some can't.

    Personally i disagree.
    My opinion is that you shouldn't hit anyone without due cause.
    To give some examples:
    if a woman or a man is attacking a child and the father witnesses it then in my opinion the father has every right to hit whichever adult is harming his child.
    Likewise if a guy is being beaten up by a woman then he has every right to hit back in self defence

      Most people only know about 15 seconds of the 90 second exchange between Clarkson and the presenters, the bit where he says he'd have people shot. Before the media campaign against him, there were very few complaints, partly because it wasn't actually how the media portrayed it later, but also because no-one watched The One Show. The vast majority of complaints came after the media edited it all down to 15 seconds.
      Clarkson started off by saying the strikes were great because London was empty, you could go speeding around, restaurants were empty, and so on, then he added "but we have to balance all this because this is the BBC", and then you got the 15 seconds everyone remembers.

    Don't understand why British audiences were upset at drag queens parading around as women, on the grounds that it (Strictly Come dancing) was a family show.
    British audiences are well known for taking their kids to see a Pantomime, where Pantomime Dames (men in drag) parade in front of children, and women dress as men to play the roles of the leading man, such as in Peter Pan and Dick Whittington. And of course there's also what's known as 'Trouser Roles' in opera, where women play and sing male characters, such as in Handel's Julius Caesar, and that does not offend anyone. In both cases, no one is trying to deceive the audience, as to what gender the dancers, actors and singers are.

Even this episode, viewed through the prism of the BBC's attitude to the likes of Jimmy Saville which was happening at the same time, starts to stray into the field of "Insightful Journalism" (But not completely, "Playground Bangaround" was firmly two feet on the wrong side of the line...) The episode On Drugs was hilarious, From approaching shady characters on the street asking for drugs that don't exist, through ways to dodge the law including suspending drugs from a helium balloon and holding the end of the string so you're not in possession and using drug trafficking Mandrills, to getting celebrities to warn the kids of the dangers of "Cake".

    She was shown to be a very manipulative person & the fact that Ryan Thomas eventually won the show, just proves that the public also knew nothing happened.
    She was a truly vile woman for her actions in this & thankfully, the public could see that - it’s just the housemates who struggled for a bit, as they couldn’t see what we all could. The last one, he was shadow boxing and dancing around the room like you see a boxer doing at no point did he hit her or any other person in the house in the house. She ran to the diary room complaining that he had punched her, forgetting that there were at least twenty odd camera's in the house and one had caught a close up of what happened which was never shown on tv only the long shot that you saw.
    It was only after she left the show and found out that other people on the outside were not supporting her and was supporting the man still in the house who at that point was going through hell thinking that the country were believing her side if the story, although Big brother producers called him in to the diary room to talk about what had happened and that she had told them that he had beaten her up they assured him that they had not seen him strike her and gave him chance to tell his side of the story, The public came out on his side.
    On the outside of the house and on live tv she said sorry and that he had ONLY pretended to hit her and had in fact not touched her at all, it ruined his career on a British soap before she went on air and said he did not hit her they had sacked him the damage was done.

    It was made clear from the start that Ghostwatch was a scripted drama. The problem was that they used TV presenters (Michael Parkinson, Mike Smith and Sarah Green ) to front the show, not actors. People who hadn't seen any of the pre-show publicity thought it was real, and the way they did it, with a slow build up, made it really scary. I know I had nightmares for a few days afterwards!
