Saw her with Lone Justice when they opened for U2 during their Joshua Tree tour many years ago.
Beautiful and incredibly talented. Ive loved her ever since.

For as right-brained as she naturally is, she’s surprisingly logical and balanced. As this interview went on, I found myself more and more impressed with her. The way she intently listens to the questions; the lack of varnishing her answers. She has a quality of honesty that is common only in children. I’d love to watch more interviews with her.

Dave Howie .. quality of honesty that is common only in children. Adults sell out to earn the all mighty dollar. Encourage everyone you know to recapture that "quality of honesty" , before we destroy ourselves

I’m the same age as Maria. The first time I saw her was in the video for ‘Ways To Be Wicked’ with Lone Justice and I instantly fell in love with her voice. I’ve been lucky enough to meet her here in Glasgow, Scotland way back in ‘89 when she did a promotional tour. So I’m 58 now and I’ve gotta tell you all I absolutely adore this woman. She is so talented. The most beautiful voice I have ever heard. Sometimes I cry when I listen to her. Thanks for posting. Best wishes from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I think it's a bit of an oxymoron to say that Maria Mckee is an incredible, absolute talent. She's a terrific songwriter, and a phenomenal and powerhouse singer. And with over 30 years under her belt in this crazy business, she's survived and accomplished A LOT!
And I just saw her perform a week ago and the woman is better than ever! She just completed a week-long stint performing a short 30-minute sets at the conclusion of her new indie film "The Ocean of Helena Lee." Search it here and check it out! She is STUNNING!!!

I love what Maria does and like the different styles; who cares, she sings I listen, brilliant voice

Loved this interview as I've been an admirer of McKee for many years now.Her voice is as pure & strong as ever. Seems quite grounded & her laugh is infectious ! Know she's an avid dog lover. the duet with that adorable pug so amazingly funny. So glad I stumbled upon this.

Fantastic interview. Maria tends to be nervous in interviews but in this one she is clearly at ease and comfortable talking about her career and her music and how she works. Wonderful.

I'll never forget the first time I heard "Inspiration" and the chills that voice put down my spine. So glad to see she's happy and flourishing.

I first heard Ways to be Wicked. Absolutely loved it. Immediately bought the album and love it. Don’t Toss us Away was so beautiful and sweet. I like the 2nd album even more. I love Wheels and Inspiration is so good and original. The way the vocals build on the chorus then that break with her whaling fill me up, fill me up. Yes, chills.

What an fabulous woman...so sensible, clear thinking, well grounded, utterly honest with herself .....maybe the "failure" of Lone Justice to become the Worldwide Rock Sensation I hoped for, and the decade of anger and contempt I held for the music world for not fully embracing them, was actually a blessing in disguise....
Would she still be here with us, if mega success as a rock act swept over her at, what, 20 years old? Would she have survived the attending pressure to live a high-profile Rock Star/Sex Symbol lifestyle if Lone Justice became as big as the Stray Cats, John Cougar, Blues Traveller, Black Crows, Dixie Chicks?
I like to think she would have, but you never know....She was 20, adorable, and talented beyond belief...but still swimming in a pool of sharks that would take as many bites as they could from her as long as her star was rising, feeding her whatever they needed to, to keep themselves in style...
The Rock World ate up a lot of good people in the past...
I'm glad it never happened to Maria

Everyone at Geffen was pushing sooooooooo hard to make her The Next Big Thing that they seemed not terribly interested in her as an artist. Maria needed the freedom to find and forge her own path.

I never understood why Lone Justice wasn’t bigger. The first album was great and the 2nd album was phenomenal.

My three favorite women musicians/songwriters are all married to men who sort of partner with them in the studio. Not sure exactly what that indicates, but it's interesting!
