Wow on so many levels. To begin...Maria speaks of her childhood friend Jennifer. When I was taking vocal classes at LACC, Jennifer was in my class. This must have been 1984...whatever year Hilburn had 4 page spread on the LA Times Sunday Calendar cover featuring Maria McKee! Comparisons with Janis, Linda, Dolly and others noted. I had been following Lone Justice prior to the Times piece and was so excited. The next day in class I asked Jennifer, who sat behind me, if she had seen the piece or had heard of this great local singer. Her eyes widened and said I grew up with her...when did this happen?! Jennifer btw also had a big fantastic voice...I still remember her singing the Melissa Manchester song about baby crying when the circus came to town. After all these years, I remember the moment but I didn't remember Jennifer's name. I was there the night Maria sang this song and it didn't register then but tonight it all came together. And wow just because Maria!
She just gets better and better...Which I knew the first time I heard Her, and saw Her back with 'Lone Justice.' She was someone very very special. She just has such a powerful talent.

Fatz Treeboy especially that short crappy one you just gave- this was an event at a cabaret with a purpose- it was all heart and the heart sometimes needs to speech as much as sing- but I think Maria did a transcendently brilliant job- where childhood and adulthood merged into one- she did this as a dare- she did this as a favor- she did this as a gift... if this doesn't touch your soul completely- you... sadly just don't get it... "...and I mean it..." Forever grateful for this awesome gesture! I love my "lil diva" She gave me back a much needed.. "summer"
