  • Let's walk around the beautiful grounds of Villa d'Este, in Tivoli, a few kilometers from Rome.
Villa d'Este is one of the symbols of the Italian Renaissance and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The villa is famous all over the world for its splendid fountains characterized by wonderful and suggestive water displays.
You can reach Tivoli from Stazione Termini or from Stazione Tiburtina in Rome. From there it's an easy walk to the town center and the villa.

how much time you need to see all the fountains in this garden?
do you think a person who walk slowly and needs to rest every once in a while can easily go around the major fountains?
Also if we need to get a taxi from the villa to our hotel, are there any taxi stands close to the villa?

The length of the visit is very subjective, to look at both the villa and the garden at leisure I would calculate a couple of hours.
The park is not flat, you have to take stairs or descents to visit it entirely. If one has mobility problems it could be tiring.
I didn't take a cab so I don't have any information about it, it is certainly possible to book a ride by phone in case you can't find cabs near the villa. Best to ask for information on the spot.
I hope I have been helpful!

I think spring might be the best time to visit! I live in the north of Italy and march is still a bit early in the year, but usually in the center of the country spring comes early.
