I remember when my period came unexpectedly when I went to my boyfriend's house ...it stained his bed sheet , my boyfriend as at then humiliated me , embarrassed me , made a big deal out of it... I had to wash of that stain at midnight ... I left in the morning never to return to him ever again . Each time he calls to ask me to come back to him , I reminded about that incidence.... his excuse was ..."I can't stand the sight of blood, I am sorry , I know I was childish"..... my reply always .."in my state when I needed protection ,covering, understanding, protection, you never stood by me ...that means in a worse situation like illness or something you won't be there "....
True dat…but you forgot to think of the fact that it comes monthly. What will he do from month to month far less in times of illness or kids from the relations falling and getting hurt…Run?stupse
When I was 16 this happened to me at a friend of the family's house. There were other people there and he saw it when I stood up before anyone else did. He was so kind, stood behind me and said he wanted to show me something in the backroom. When got there he told me what happened, gave me sweatpants and told me not to worry he had laid a magazine in the chair so nobody saw. I should mention he was a much older gay male. I was so grateful for his compassion, understanding and how he came to aid.
She isn't 16. Why would she choose to stay and go through the embarrassment? People nowadays think they need to make some point about everything. Yep, our period is a natural thing and so is pooping and peeing and sex. Most of us know when to respect ourselves and others enough not to do these things in public. She should have left and none if this would have happened. Ignorant
This triggered a memory of me back in college sitting in class during a lecture and all of a sudden the flood gates opened. I knew I couldn't stand up to quietly excuse myself as I knew blood was all over my backside and on the chair. My only option was to wait for class to end, let all the other students clear out and ask for help from my teacher (who thankfully was female). I was so embarrassed and an emotional mess but I will never forget her kindness lending me her sweater to wrap around my waist and running to the restroom to gather paper towels to help clean up. It happened so fast and it was such a mess. I don't know what I would have done if she wasn't there to help me.
Well white is very dangerous color because if you even have a Bowel issue. That of course would show up as brown to dark so you are taking a lot of chances wearing white.
She did this on purpose and it was no accident. This is childish and indecent behavior and no way to effectively get a constructive point across. If it was a true accident it would not have been handled like this. I have extremely painful heavy periods and can relate to the embarrassment and inconvenience of them. That doesn't make it right for me to be intentionally unsanitary and gross people out on purpose. Some people are incontinent and cannot help it, but we don't make a political point by pissing and sharting our pants. That's such a narcissistic and childish attitude!
She's obviously putting on a show. Any woman with a brain will not wear a white suit during her cycle...why did she not wrap her own jacket around her waist, it's the common action of many girl who experienced leakage during school
@@faq9456 Really, she has no shame. She is sitting there with no shame bleeding on the chair someone else needs to sit on after her. Disgusting...I mean really. She needed to be told to change and wash up? That in itself is shameful. That was a feminist movement. Feminism is destroying our women.

Mr. Speaker is full of natural wisdom to sensitive issues. I love his spirit of leadership and to Senator Gloria, she is courageous to deal with challenges of natural phenomenon.
I love the concluding part where Mr speaker politely asked her to leave the chamber not because she has flouted the order of the house but because she was stained and needed to change. This is pure wisdom ❤

First of all, I am appalled by this lady Tabitha. If indeed Tabitha was interested in helping or was concerned about Senator Gloria's dress code, she would have pulled her aside privately and talked to her not announcing it in public. Women we are each other ‘s enemies at all times.
I align with you except of course it was planned by both parties. Senator Tabitha didn't handle the issue well as a fellow woman. You could see she couldn't even spill it initially. Women should protect women at all times.

Wow! I’m not sure where to begin….. As a woman, who suffers with endometriosis and fibroids, I have experienced many occasions of bleeding heavily at work and other functions, with no warnings. @@neenaigwegbe4468 it sounds like her dramatic stand was to address issues with young girls that are being harassed about similar situations. I have incontinance due to a lousy surgeon. That gets upsetting, too. You have to plan ahead on these personal matters. It us no onevelses's responsibility except for a parent teaching their child to plan ahead. Only we know the pattern of our flow. Carry the proper items and change soon enough both to avoid embarrassment, but also to avoid possible illnesses.
A woman should never be shamed for having a period full stop but it’s common decency not to flaunt a period. It’s the same as a man waking up with a morning glory, he too has to have the common decency not to flaunt it. Nobody wants to see those things. As for this lady’s fellow female workmates trying to shame her instead of quietly pulling her assist to try and assist is appalling. Us girls need to band together when these things happen
It's not the same, you cannot always control or feel it if you bleed through your close, here it would not be drama, people would just feel sorry for her, for being embarrassed
@@denmark23this woman is a showboating because it is so very apparent the she is neither feeling the shock and embarrassment of her ordeal. What type of ignorance compels you to walk up to a podium in front of men and women with a nasty, bloody behind. This woman is just plain nasty and classless.
They were not annoyed that she stained herself. They were disgusted because she wouldn't sit at a place!! If she knew she had stained herself, why wouldn't she just sit at a place or probably excuse herself and try to find out how she could handle the situation?
@@somie4639 OMG, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for not excusing this atrocity. This woman did not have the decency to be embarrassed about the nastiness of the situation but instead paraded it around as a badge of womanhood and tried to make it appear as if to promote a sick type of social injustice for young women that were made to feel ashamed of themselves. Look at the way she's dressed, the one button in her jacket is crying out for help; she pointed to her collared shirt that barley concealed her chest because she needed a size or two larger and her pants were so tight it's remarkable the blood had room to seep out. Her behavior suggests that she felt no shame going up to the podium to speak as if her soild pants was her rites of passage. Then then the unthinkable happened, she asked for protection, but from what? It was the council session which needed protection from her. Part of the rights to womanhood is our responsibility to behave in a respectful manner and knowing what is to be shared and what is to be kept private. It us not necessary for the world to know when we're in our cycle nor are they, especially men, interested in seeing the actual blood, that's disgusting and nasty and so is she.
This woman (Senator Tabitha) is a shame to womanhood. What she did was like exposing the nakedness of another woman in public. Senator Tabitha is supposed to protect a fellow woman's privacy and nakedness, instead of exposing Senator Gloria's privacy in public. Shame on Senator Tabitha and other women in the House who kept quiet over the matter without condemning Senator Tabitha for disgracing a fellow woman. Senator Tabitha should have approached Senator Gloria privately to inform her about the stain and find a way to help her clean up.
Senator Tabitha deemed that Senator Gloria was deliberately using the House to create sensationailism. Senator Gloria's method is shameful and non-productive in addressing that issue.
Even as a father of girls,I didn't know much about the trauma female gender goes through on this issue. This issue has never been discussed openly for us(men) to fully understand like in this Senate Chambers. I have a better understanding of what the female gender goes through on period now. I am truly grateful the way the Kenyan Senate went about discussing the issue. Brilliant discussion. The Speaker or Senate President's RULING was superb! Nobody single person in the senate should be blamed. Men our there, like me are better enlightened now that ever. Kudos!
Let's put it this way: We don't get a brief of when the dam is going to open and what is the volume of the flood. And sometimes the products that are supposed to support us don't do the job.
I grew up with 4 sisters (no brothers) and sometimes they were embarrassed and would ask me to go to the store and buy sanitary pads for them. I guess they knew I wouldn't be embarrassed....and I wasn't. Lol
I had a myoma, had periods that lasted 3 weeks, 1 week off and the next period started. The bleeding was so heavy, I was afraid to go out. Products were only helping for 45 minutes if I sat still.
Very childish treatment of the stigma. When we strive against anything, it must be done lawfully in decency and order. Senator Gloria was quite out of order. She said that subject was not on the agenda, but she put it on the agenda when she walked in and out parading her bloody milk-white, two sizes too small pant suit. She became an exhibitionist in The House, wasting the government's time. She should be disciplined.
@@junemalcolm-evans7409I think they will discipline her in a way or another...no matter the intention she had...that's not the way of doing it...staining ur cloths and moving around several times without covering, and to make the matter worse in white?...no sense....

This has happened to me several times and yes it is embarrassing but natural. Men can not imagine the stress that women go through. From having mentrual cycles, having babies and dealing with them
I must say that this sort of thing can happen to the best of us. It has happened to me. When a woman has an accident like this it would be nice to be respectful, than to be insulting. It's embarrassing enough, so... let's not make it a crime to be a woman. Keep in mind that women could be your mother, aunt, sister, wife, cousin, or teenage daughter. Wow! God bless Mr.Speaker in Jesus Christ name 🙏. I covet this kind of Wisdom to solve issues IJN... Senator Gloria was not well treated because what happened to her was a natural act from God which brought all men forth to the world...Women deserves to be treated better!
Woman needs periods to stay young, to have smooth skin, to have babies, to avoid osteoporosis, etc. This is ridicilous. Gays would be glad to have one.
I hardly believe that any girls are committing suicide because they have periods. Why? okay lets say their parents did not warn or tell them about menstruation. Well, young girls have friends and their girl friends have periods and it is taught in schools etc.
Because blood spreads disease. She was upset that she didn't bother going back home to change and was walking everywhere around the chambers. It is not only disgusting but it is dangerous. If she had HIV or Hepatitis or any of those diseases she can spread them by sitting on chairs and touching stuff.
I applaud Senator Gloria....I'm so ashamed of Parliament and other representatives who acts like they don't have wives or girl children where accidents like this happens.. Poor judgenent of the People.
She did it on purpose. No woman would wear white trousers when her period is in full flow. She wanted to draw attention to the plight of young women who can't afford sanitary protection and suffer shame at school or elsewhere. It was a drastic action to take but very brave. I think the judge handled it well.
That cannot be assumed. Some women have periods that start randomly, are irregular and come on with a very heavy flow. I for one NEVER wore white because I never had a time where I was safe from this possibility.
Omg, So I was just reading something saying that when women are menstruating, they are drawn more to wear white. I find that true for myself too & have to tell myself “don’t you dare wear them white pants” 😂😂 I felt seen while reading that 😂 I do agree, it was drastic & brave bc Lord knows I don’t have the nerve to even attempt that, then argue my right to sit in my messy pants. But my issue is, if she was really bleeding, the fact that she is being shamed & talked about in the open like this is disgusting. Everyone is adults & is acting silly. There are many men out there that think women can control when they can & can’t bleed. 😮 🤦🏼♀️
She did it deliberately so she can raise a pertinent issue to advocate for women and girls. She caught the attention of the leaders and made them uncomfortable enough to discuss the issue or atleast caught their attention. The leaders are now willing to schedule time to discuss how women and girls need to be supported in regards to the basic need of pads. She was very bold to do that in an uncomfortable way but i respect her for going through withit for the sake of the female gender in Kenya and around the world.
Sadly many could not discern that...and if she really was concerned she ought to have called her and talk to her in private but her raising it publicly is just very pathetic.Huh!
Did she need to fake her period to raise such an important issue? I am not a Kenyan, so I am guessing she is a new Senator. Normally a senator would formally raise issues of concern for discussion. So, did she raise it and they refused to discuss it? Why did she chose to use protest first?
According to senator Gloria she realized that earlier and decided to go ahead with it. Mind you her thoughts are good but her approach to walk up there with her menses is wrong. She could have raised it without soiling herself to draw attention of all and I will stand in that point and say it's wrong for her to do that as a senator in parliament
The way Mr Speaker handled the issue is so excitement and wonderful. He gently expressed the religion part of how to handle the natural women cycle and also in a cultural society how our grand grand parents used to handle it quietly without the notice of nearby individual. Thank you Mr Speaker.
This happened to me in middle school when I first got my menstrual. My classmates were awesome. My 5th grade teacher called bathroom break for all, the girls covered me all the way to the bathroom then to the school nurse. Grandfather came and got me, treated me to ice cream, took me home and put me in bed. Everyone made my experience less scary.
She's a filthy pig! She could have cleaned herself up but chose to parade around in bloody pants. Would you have a problem sitting beside someone that sh*t their pants? It's also natural!
I've read comments of people and I'm so disappointed. Menstrual periods for women is a natural phenomenon. Why not protect and care for her. The women folks where the ones against her the most. We women must begin to support ourselves
They spent too much time discussing this nonsense. One of the ladies could have pulled her to the side and told her she needed to go change . Why must these men be discussing this 😒
Ladies are less forgiving than men. I worked as a short order cook, my senior female manager was due to finish her shift 2 hrs before me. Unexpectedly, the flood gates opened, and I was so wet the blood had saturated my black pants to my knees. Having told my manager I'm wet thru, I need to go home. Rather than cover my shift, she told me to go stand in the sun for a bit. In hindsight I wish I had pursued the matter with higher ups. If, as a customer, I would be mortified to think that my food server was in such a state.
It appears Senator Gloria knew her clothing was soiled but walked around the Chambers for maximum effect. Others acknowledged that it was to visualise her political viewpoint. What woman would want to walk around a room full of men with stained clothes anyway? Personally, I would be mortified and desperately looking for clean clothing. We should also respect other's cultures and their viewpoints, even if we disagree.
As I neared menopause I was one day walking down the Main Street in my town wearing white jeans when I got a cramp and then had a massive gush. Horror story. Luckily I was near a store owned by a woman and sought refuge there. I had no control of this . These things happen.
Oh man that would be horrible! My mom had the same experience. We were walking through a Kmart store! Luckily for me, mine just slacked off then stopped all together in my mid 30s. I am soooo thankful!

I was crossing the street to my office, wearing a super tampon AND a super pad...but when those types of gushes happen you have no control and sometimes even the best forethought isn't enough. My gush was so powerful, it pushed my tampon out!!! 😢
This happened to me twice. The first time I knew my cycle was on. My ex husband grandmother had passed and we were out of town for her funeral. I was in the process of weening our baby and my doc had told me my cycle would be heavier through the transition. It came on the day we got there. I was fine. It was requested everyone wear white. I had on a pad and a tampon. But, when we walked around to view her body, it STILL bled through. When we sat back down, someone came to tell me. I was so embarrassed. And angry because I took precautionary measures. As women, our periods are normal. It’s sad that we are made to feel uncomfortable about them, when the majority of women experience this at some point or another.
Yes!! After I had my 2nd child mime got worse.. it comes when it wants to and when I think it's done cause I've been light for 2/3 days it sneaks up and comes heavy ...it's a shame that this is an issue.
This has happened to me about 31 years ago. It is still vivid in my mind. It was my 2nd period and it came 21 days after the 1st period. I stained my school uniform. The teacher took me to the bathroom, wash my overall and panty, and let me remain in the bathroom stall. She took the uniform to the Home Economic classroom and allowed another student to iron it until dry. Then it was given back to me with sanitary napkin. The embarassing part of it was the next day. The early morning lesson was Menstration. Everybody knew the topic was choosen because i had my period in school and got soiled the previous day. The sad thing about it was the teacher spoke in a manner that made it look as though i was careless for not checking 28 days to put on a pad. BUT IT WAS NOT 28 DAYS, IT WAS MY 2nd PERIOD AND IT CAME 21 DAYS AFTER MY 1st period. Im still sad, more than 30 years later. Still sad when i think about it.

After listening closely it is my understanding that some informed her that there was an issue- that her clothing was stained. And instead of addressing the problem she “paraded it up and down” prior to the Call to Order. That’s why they kept saying “she’s picketing”. She also, when speaking for herself, immediately brought attention to social issues surrounding the matter of menstrual cycles. She’s being criticized for the WAY she chose to highlight it- NOT because she had an “accident”. I happen to agree. You don’t have to denigrate YOURSELF to make a point. As they said make a “motion” to have a mature discussion about it. Kudos to the women who had enough insight and discernment to understand “the play” and expose it. Kudos to the man taking the lead for calmly asking enough questions to understand what was really happening, and for asking her to go change- not because she was having a period, but to change her “beautiful suit” and come back for mature discussion on the social issue she was attempting to highlight. She may/may not have been on her cycle. If she had an accident I sympathize with her. I also think that others there do as well. However, arrogant “protests” like that may work here in America, but they don’t play that mess in places like Africa.
Thank God we have enough evidence to know that the Bible and Quran was written by men who knew nothing about women's cycle... Now we have doctors and scientists who wrote enough books so that you can all learn about it and understand it. 🎉🎉🎉
Period shaming is a real thing in Kenya. It won't go away by itself. That is probably why she made a point because people won't change this by itself. Just google it and you will find several articles on period shaming. She just tries to make a point and you totally ignore that. I wouldn't do like her but why not let her make her point.
@@reneewhitecarter6575 yes if we google period shaming in Kenya you find lots of articles. So I guess she just wants to make a point and wants to be heard.
I will never forget how my ex husband told me “that’s nasty” when I had an “accident” on our bed. My overnight pad didn’t prevent a very bad leak from happening. That was the first time it happened. Now he’s remarried with twins. I wonder if he was in the delivery room and watched their birth and if he felt the same way? I was embarrassed and so hurt. However if I had a public “accident”, I would discreetly take care of it and not try to get any attention.
@@widaro7066, if he made the baby, he should be there to support the mother. Fathers should witness the miracle, and appreciate what the woman goes through.
I liked the manner this man respected and passed a good explained judgement the issue and respected Gloria and all women. We need people like him more in this world. Praise the Lord.
@@kap849 there's really nothing to discuss. I'm sure at some point everyone has made tha's terrible mistake where they thought it was a fart but alas...does that mean that one should walk around without bothering to clean up, *privately,* ati because it is a natural process?? Such nonsense. I am convinced that this was just a stunt.
The Statement was made. It will definitely come to haunts the Senate. Wonderful Gloria. You saved so many girls and matured women. Shame on all who could not see a bigger picture Kenya 🇰🇪 and the world will never be the same again.
She should be ashamed of herself, for putting down her colleague, she could have should have gone the Gloria and told her, and offered her a sanitary napkin. WE DONT INSULT EACH OTHER LIKE THIS. ITS AS IF SHE HAD A GRUDGE AGAINST HER. 👍🇯🇲❤️
Gloria was putting on a show. I'm sure someone offered her a sanitary napkin or advised her that her white suit that she intentionally wore that day was stained. She brought the point across distastefully
She could have atheist made some effort to cover her accident. Cover the pants. If she's making a theatrical statement for a legitimate cause, she went about it the wrong way.
So that signifies that the honourable senator is lacking some 70bob to buy sanitary towels if at all she's genuinely on her periods?? These are nonsense... How is that related to poverty out there??
Gloria is representing me in my teenage years when I was in high school. Every month I had to deal with a heavy period and always stained myself. Other students have witnessed this and would feel embarrassed on my behalf. I believed that it was natural and I was doing my best to take care of it and to prevent it. However, my period is heavy and takes 7 days. Imagine a girl who can’t even afford pads for that long? Then she also needs to be shamed because she is considered unclean? The amount of time it took for this Chair to even understand what the topic was about is troubling. As a South African, I stand with Gloria. You are doing great.
My daughter had similar problems each month, as well as days when she was in so much pain. Thankfully, her pediatricians (two women in the same practice) recommended their ob/gyn doctor, which was a woman. My ob/gyn was a man. My daughter was only 14. Years later her gyn doctor diagnosed her with endometriosis. The gyn her pediatricians recommended treatment with birth control pills. It reduced her cycle days along with drastic reduction of the pain she’d experienced that had landed us in the ER. She was like a whole other child. Today she is still on birth control that stops her cycle, still reduces the pain, & treats her endo. Gloria shouldn’t feel shamed of this happened. Senator Tabitha (I think that’s her name) ought to be ashamed of herself. She should have requested a recess to speak with Gloria rather than shaming her… especially in this public manner. Maybe karmic Justice will teach her not to do something like this to show her that it’s not right.
Thanks Gloria for the boldness, many young people suffer quietly coz they can't afford these basic commodities for ladies. Most miss school for all those days. Thanks that it got the attention of the house. God bless her.
They were not stigmatizing, they were only concerned with the way she handled it, coz after realizing you've stained your cloth, does it really call for moving up and down unbothered with the incident, simply showing everyone how bloody you are, nooo, they expected her to handle it in a better way than that, cldave covered up her pants with an extra cloth or request one from a female colleague if she didn't have or just smartly moved to the wash room, organized herself from there and came back, don't drag us to stigma, nooo that wasn't one
There was no stigmatising here. That is unnecessary sentiments. Moreover, it is clear that she did it deliberately to make a point in the name of advocacy. I think that is a wrong approach. The speaker did well. I saw a female professor once, walked stack nude to a class showing her pussy in the name of some kind of advocacy. This madness has to stop.
It is appalling that this is being discussed. I feel for Gloria very much, it is easy to have leakage and the first lady should have helped her and not humiliate her.
It isn't decent to put another woman down for something that could not be prevented. The woman in the blue dress would have been more decent by helping Gloria in the bathroom to cover it up or offering assistance. There are enough monsters attacking women, that we should be building each other up, not tearing into and embarrassing each other. I'm more appalled by the lady in blue than Gloria's pants!
Miss Gloria should have had some respect not only for herself but for the rest of the Senate. She should have never entered the building and instead gone home to clean up and returned later, or not at all; accidents happen. I am sure she knew what happened before entering the building. Wearing a white pantsuit does make you wonder if she was pushing an agenda? No self-respecting woman I know would have gone in, and if they had, they would have discreetly sought help from one of the other women. As a man, I would have discreetly offered my dress jacket to wrap around herself. There is a right and wrong way to handle this situation. Motive or no motive, clearly, this was the wrong way. If she was truly humiliated, then she did it to herself.
Exactly, we are all sisters, my friend group in school would watch out for each other, so we wouldn't have to go through the taunting from the boys, and sneers from other girls.
Some pple ar not just human beings.. Periods are natural and can come unexpectedly. The best we can do to assist ourselves is to care for whomever it happened to at a particular time. I own a unisex saloon and I remember the day a lady came to my office to make her hair and right there her period came right in the midst of people, I had to leave what I was doing to go get her a Pad myself in the nearest store and pleaded with the rest of the customers to please excuse her so that she could change and they all obeyed and after that I ordered Uber to come pick her and take her home and change into something different and everyone was happy, infact right from that very day most of my customers who were at that scene started calling me husband material that very moment.. 😂😂😂😂 But it's a simple understanding about how things works and how things happens most times in life... Most people only lack understanding about the nature of life and they also lack conscience.. Periods are natural and they can come anytime and unexpected. They don't inform any woman before coming, No. So no one has the right to judge any woman who had her period in public, instead adding another pain to her pain and embarrassement? Thats stupid..
God is indeed a giver of wisdom. I am so glad to hear a fantastic words that came out the senate President. He is indeed a leader to reckon with. I am convinced that,if the issue is a more serious one,he will handle it excellently.
Thank you Senator Gloria for cracking the ceiling on trying to normalize the natural process of periods! Many of us who have heavy periods have staining accidents unexpectedly, sometimes even with a pad on. It is so embarrassing and to be shamed publicly for it is one of the most cruel and damaging things a person can do to someone already feeling embarrassed. Periods are natural and everyone needs to remember that. Thank you also to the lady in orange, Senator Moma, at the end for standing up on this issue too! Very inspiring speeches - strong powerful women change the world.
Dd anyone say its not natural? Can we now defacate in public coz its a natural process? Can we now pee in public coz its natural? Shld we go naked coz we were created without clothes? I SAY BULL SHIT!! Be sane you stupid lady!!

I appreciate Senator Gloria, whether on her period or not, making such a bold move for the young girls who need their voices heard and raising awareness to this issue. Millions of girls not having access to meet their need and some dropping out of school because of it is a major problem. Hopefully, they went on to address this in their meeting or plan to sometime soon to find a way to get the girls what they need. I pray this goes viral and those with the money & resources show up and show out. I spoke about Rosa Parks earlier and her simply saying “no” to giving up her seat. This is giving me that vibe. 🔥🙏🏽❤️
What are you talking about? The fact that you are a woman does not mean you would walk about with a stained white suit in a workplace. Common sense tell you to cover it up. It happens to everyone but its a different thing to not be aware you have been stained by your period and to be fully aware and bounce about proudly just bcos you are a woman.
@@dumaroadire I somewhat agree which is why I don’t believe she was actually on her period. I give her more credit than that based on her message. However, I’m not certain either way. My gut says she would not have gone in there that way had it been an actual accident, and she would have instead used a jacket, blanket, or whatever needed to be done. What I’m talking about is the point being made. According to the video, young girls in Kenya are dying by suicide and dropping out of school because they don’t have access to sanitary products and are ridiculed, shamed, and bullied. This isn’t something I’ve heard of being an issue in the US, especially not to this degree. Was it a stretch? Maybe, but the young girls and women who will benefit from this moment and changes to come outweighs focusing on how she chose to get her point across. When young girls show up to school, apparently, they don’t have a choice in the matter because if they did they wouldn’t be dropping out or taking choosing to end lives because of it. What do we say to the young girls that are experiencing this day in and day out? I can’t even imagine what that’s like for them. For me personally, that’s the point and where I choose to keep my focus. When it comes to certain things, it takes courage. Women are too often overlooked and unheard. So again, I say kudos to Senator Gloria for taking a stand. It’s much bigger than her.
Weather one is wearing a dress or a trousers, a lady can still mess herself. These periods sometimes they just appear without warning. I feel sorry for the lady being attacked!!
In America we have men buying women's products for periods, pretending to have periods and our brands giving them endorsements this makes me so angry when there are females in the world that desperately need them , we have black Americans who could advocate for donations to help you all but they are extremely self absorbed and have become true grifters using the past to okie doke their poor mentality, I will start advocating for you all !! Much love from one female to another
Don’t you get it? She doesn’t have her period. She’s trying to make a point. Girls in Africa do not have pads or tampons and she’s trying to get the Senate to pass giving girls these things for free or very very cheap.
Thank you so much for speaking up for those young girls, and you brought it to the best place. And I pray they give free pads to the girls especially in schools. Thank you 🙏🏿👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Sen Ole dama,I respect you so much but on this matter,I disagree with you.I know amongst the Maa a man would never go near a woman who is menstruating or even hold his own baby below 2 years.Kindly allow Sen Gloria to do her thing.
Thanks for your kind response, and disagreeing. If I may ask so for 2 years a man will not touching his own wife and child right? (We are even lucky we have lots of family support around 🙈). And again that is right? This is a natural thing God gave us. My dear then at least let’s make pads free for those who can not afford, so they stay away from shame and maintain their dignity. I do not agree with what she did, but all I know for her to put herself in this situation she has tried, seen things men don’t see or decide to rate as not essential. But it is a big issue that needs us to deal with ourselves not western countries. And my point is she was in a law making place and were best to take this. We need to start talking about these issues. Just see the example you gave? And yet if a woman decides not give birth it is also wrong. It is a man’s world we are still living in. But I still respect Gloria and the chair for the way he handled the issue. We need more Gloria’s in our parliaments who can look at what is real on the ground. Let’s respect our girls in school, and prevent men from seeing this. Thanks my dear for your response,

I remember when my period came unexpectedly when I went to my boyfriend's house ...it stained his bed sheet , my boyfriend as at then humiliated me , embarrassed me , made a big deal out of it... I had to wash of that stain at midnight ... I left in the morning never to return to him ever again .
This triggered a memory of me back in college sitting in class during a lecture and all of a sudden the flood gates opened.
You were a kid then though I'm also pretty sure you didn't or wouldn't wear all white in a big event or important event if you were going though that
She did this on purpose
Unfortunately, it happens. But thank God someone was there to help.

Wow I have never seen such a thing. I admire her bravery and being a voice to the voiceless. She definitely made a statement.
Senator Tabitha should have approached Senator Gloria privately to inform her about the stain and find a way to help her clean up.
exactly why did she have to go Infront of everybody.

Great Job Senator Gloria! KUDOS to you maam
Very childish treatment of the stigma. When we strive against anything, it must be done lawfully in decency and order. Senator Gloria was quite out of order.
I find that true for myself too & have to tell myself “don’t you dare wear them white pants” 😂😂 I felt seen while reading that 😂

Exactly!
She took the bull by the horn to demonstrate that, nd she got that needed attention she opted for. Kudos to her.

Absolutely!
I’m guessing the woman was trying to make a point that menstrual pads should be provided no cost to young women who need them.
It appears Senator Gloria knew her clothing was soiled but walked around the Chambers for maximum effect. Others acknowledged that it was to visualise her political viewpoint. What woman would want to walk around a room full of men with stained clothes anyway? Hats off to the Mr Speaker, for his act of wisdom

I loved the way the speaker handled it!...now that is pure Genius wisdom❤️👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽.

Senator Gloria speaking for a million young girls who go through that female cycle with no support

Disagree, wearing white if u have irregular periods , that's isn't appropriate attire
This is a grown-ass woman come on now

I used to stain my pads my clothes coz of heavy flow but since I took so sumpliments last year am now back to normal, that was homonal imbalance
Thanks Gloria for the boldness, many young people suffer quietly coz they can't afford these basic commodities for ladies. Most miss school for all those days. Thanks that it got the attention of the house. God bless her.
Shame on you for attacking a fellow woman. This is making a strong statement that only wise people can relate!!
I am in awe of this woman. I salute you for doing this. What a long way you have to go . I wish you all the luck
Both handled it like bosses. Props to Gloria and Speaker. Shame on those senators stigmatising menstruation. Especially the women!
Totally agree ✅
Correct
They were not stigmatizing, they were only concerned with the way she handled it, coz after realizing you've stained your cloth, does it really call for moving up and down unbothered with the incident, simply showing everyone how bloody you are, nooo, they expected her to handle it in a better way than that, cldave covered up her pants with an extra cloth or request one from a female colleague if she didn't have or just smartly moved to the wash room, organized herself from there and came back, don't drag us to stigma, nooo that wasn't one
Co says
No common sense..
I own a unisex saloon and
I remember the day a lady came to my office to make her hair and right there her period came right in the midst of people, I had to leave what I was doing to go get her a Pad myself in the nearest store and pleaded with the rest of the customers to please excuse her so that she could change and they all obeyed and after that I ordered Uber to come pick her and take her home and change into something different and everyone was happy, infact right from that very day most of my customers who were at that scene started calling me husband material that very moment.. 😂😂😂😂
But it's a simple understanding about how things works and how things happens most times in life...
Stupid biases and excuses
Period isn't a problem, you can go to rest room and fix your self
Dd anyone say its not natural? Can we now defacate in public coz its a natural process? Can we now pee in public coz its natural? Shld we go naked coz we were created without clothes?

Chai. I'm so disappointed by the male senators who used certain words like taboo and shame to describe menstruation. We are so backward in Africa and we really need to grow up. Thumbs up to senator Gloria for such great courage.
Stop insulting our entire race and continent with your ignorence madam. We all know what menstruation is, but we have cultures that we put before anything else. The difference is that fools like you think you're whites to do whatever you want under the umbrella of "modernity and westernization". Go to Europe, seek asylum and do all your nonsense mf!
Why did she wear white if she is seeing her period .wear some thing dark.not white to embarrass yourself and other women .that is very embarrassing get her some help 🙏💜
It's sad to me that there are zero black Americans that advocate for anything to Africans yet take a huge amount of time trying to relate to Africans , all they do is complain about minute things , they never advocate for anyone or anything but themselves it's so selfish

Thank you 🙏🏿👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
You, women, are disgusting to condone this type of behavior
Thanks my dear for your response,
Happened to me in high school. I stayed sitting until all the students left as i was at the front of the class. I put my sweater around my waist and made the best of it. It happens
