    Camila Giorgi can be definitely considered the most impressive and positively shocking late bloomer ever!!! Many don't know her past, but ten years ago her family had to face the most terrific tragedy..the older sis of Camila died in a car accident..this event is still shaking deep inside this girl, this partially explains why she is so shy and introverted, why her parents protect her this way, why she keeps hidden all the emotions. She is very authentic and honest, not preparing speeches in front of the camera. Wish her the best for the future.

      @ Teresa - Thank you for that info. That's a sad backstory but I must say that Giorgi is impressive with her small stature. I think she's even smaller than Halep. And she is all about business. I love it. Although, her father can be a bit overbearing at times.

      @@m.w.976 about the father, yes I agree. I think this bad event influenced the approach of the family, probably the bond between he and Camila became stonger and they decided to keep the training togheter.

    I've seen her matches for years. Camila was always a very hard hitter but wildly inconsistent from point to point, game to game. This year has been very different, a high level of consistency. Maturity, experience on the tour? Confidence? Tremendous fitness? All of the above? Whatever the answers she has worked hard to improve and deserves a lot of credit. Big Props and continued success!!!

      Surprisingly, the answer is very simple, a better racket.
      2021 wasn't the best start for her either but the new racket really helped her as it fits more. Serena is a great example of this "whole racket change, who dis?" as she won 3 Slams in a row as soon as she adjusted her racket to the one fitting her gameplay

    • @krepler
      @krepler 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@SANDUSK471 doubt that. That's stupid to say it's the racket. That's like saying some1 that sucks but give them a new racket...they will win tournaments. She's always been good, but not consistent. Hope she plays the same because Camila very cool. Hate how ppl are like," omg she so pretty." Yeah she is but she is a tiny thing that hits hard AF. Would love to see her play against Halep or Collins (when Danielle is rested) WTA is so much exciting than watching ATP That's for sure.

    • @SANDUSK471
      @SANDUSK471 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @@krepler You really underestimate how a customized racket that fits the player change a lot of thing for them. There's a reason why players like Federer or Serena or well, basically star players, has customized racket only made for them
      My personal belief aside from the racket: without her father around her in court side but still checking on her game after every match is actually working well for her as her father's presence actually pressured her unconsciously. Every error from her racket felt like a huge failure of implementing the gameplan her father developed and that pressured her to a certain degree. If she's comfy with her father as her coach, well, we cannot do anything. But I believe his presence should be limited during gameday

    She gets so much hate for not being expressive, but, as an athlete, she’s doing what works for her. Hashes been in a steady incline since Wimbledon. She’s such a fearless player and does the most with her size. She hits the ball incredibly flat and fast compared to her opponents. If she plays like this, a faster service like Wimbledon is in her favor. From her interview, it’s apparent that’s she’s unapologetic about who she is. ❤️

      Camila is no more muscular than any other woman. Her bodyfat is only 4%, which gives her the illusion of being a bodybuilder. It's all genetics. Formula-fed babies lose their fat cells at one year of age, so that could be what happened, or maybe she was breast-fed and this is simply her natural genetics. Most women are 25% to 30% bodyfat. 4% is rare. Camila is built like a ballerina and could easily do that if she wished.

    So great to see Giorgi finally win a huge tourney and delight us with an uncharacteristic but endearing and beautiful smile. She had the most deceptive ranking in the WTA before this sitting at 71 in the world and we all know she could be a top 10 caliber player with consistency like this. She's always had the talent and endurance. She looked like a world #1 out there this week and you definitely can't take any credit from her with the players she took out. Kvitova, Mertens, Gauff, Pegula, and Pliskova. All top 30 killers. I think not having her crazy father being a nuisance courtside is actually helping her as well. Great to see that he's polishing her game to be competitive enough to hang with and beat the top players. But you could always tell she was tense when he was on the sidelines. Without him being courtside, she seems much more calm and controlled whereas before she was always anxious and rushing. She should be ranked in the mid 30's with this title win now and I'm excited to see how much of a challenge she poses at the U.S. Open this year. Nobody is going to want Giorgi in the draw if she keeps playing like this. She's becoming as dangerous as we knew she always was.

She has an elegantly athletic physique as well. You have to think that there is something magical about the way Italians train and learn the game. It seems like every player from this country has the ability to play at the very top of the game: Fognini, Pennetta, Vinci, Schiavone, Berrettini, Seppi and I'm sure there are a few I have missed I apologize, and always, but now a champion...Giorgi. They can all volley superbly, they are fast, fit, and have all the shots: touch, power, angles, change of pace. Italy has only 1 win in Davis Cup, it stands behind all european and western countries...this seems more shame than pride !...talking about Federation Cup, Italy stands in the middleranking. We have only two players that can be defined "great" (but not too much great) Nicola Pietrangeli, in the '60s, and Adriano Panatta, in the '70s...nothing more.
