It wasn't explained in the movies but the reason that Harry knows all these spells that his friends in his year doesn't is because he had to learn them for the triwizard tournament.
Also, Neville parents didn't die from the torture, worse, they were driven insane and ended up institutionalized.

It should be clarified-Fudge is NOT on Voldemort’s side. He doesn’t believe Harry that Voldemort is truly back (probably due to wishful thinking). He doesn’t want the students at Hogwarts trained because he’s afraid that Dumbledore is going to form an army from the students to overthrow him & take his spot as Minister of Magic, something Dumbledore has no interest in. It’s not logical, but fear are paranoia often aren’t.

In Movie version they show Dumbledore very less powerful. Here is the book version in short. Please read it
“But Master - he is here - he is below -”
Voldemort paid no attention. AVADA KEDAVRA!”
Harry had not even opened his mouth to resist. His mind was
blank, his wand pointing uselessly at the floor.
But the headless golden statue of the wizard in the fountain had
sprung alive, leaping from its plinth, and landed on the floor with a
crash between Harry and Voldemort. The spell merely glanced off its
chest as the statue flung out its arms, protecting Harry.
“What - ?” said Voldemort, staring around. And then he
    breathed, “Dumbledore!”
Voldemort raised his wand and sent another jet of green light at
    Dumbledore, who turned and was gone in a whirling of his cloak;
next second he had reappeared behind Voldemort and waved his
wand toward the remnants of the fountain; the other statues sprang to
life too. The statue of the witch ran at Bellatrix, who screamed and
sent spells streaming uselessly off its chest, before it dived at her, pin-
ning her to the floor. Meanwhile, the goblin and the house-elf scuttled
toward the fireplaces set along the wall, and the one-armed centaur
galloped at Voldemort, who vanished and reappeared beside the pool.
The headless statue thrust Harry backward, away from the fight, as
Dumbledore advanced on Voldemort and the golden centaur can-
    tered around them both.
“You do not seek to kill me, Dumbledore?” called Voldemort, his
scarlet eyes narrowed over the top of the shield. “Above such brutality,
    are you?”
“We both know that there are other ways of destroying a man,
Tom,” Dumbledore said calmly, continuing to walk toward Volde-
mort as though he had not a fear in the world, as though nothing had
happened to interrupt his stroll up the hall. “Merely taking your life
would not satisfy me, I admit -”
“There is nothing worse than death, Dumbledore!” snarled
    Voldemort.
    “You are quite wrong,”
    “Indeed, your failure to un-
derstand that there are things much worse than death has always been
    your greatest weakness -”
Dumbledore never fall down in book version. Voldemort was nervous entirely while face Dumbledore. Voldemort go inside Harry coz he failed to face Dumbledore.

I actually don't like the portrayal of Dumbledore in the movies (apart from the first two). The actor decided not to read the books so he could put his own interpretation on the character. And he misses the mark. Dumbledore in the books never raised his voice, never showed fear and was simply far more powerful than the movie version. A clear example is the total opposite reactions between book and movie, when Harry's name is revealed by the goblet of fire.

Same with Ron, especially in the movies.
We only see him doing magic in the first 2 movies, where he is not very good at it... when he was using his brother's old wand (can't exactly remember which one), and in the second one it was broken.
We never really see him doing magic after he gets his own wand in POA, which is annoying too.

She is a *vile* woman.

You should really read the books, the movies don't explain everything. Plus the movie version of Ron and Ginny makes them extremly unlikeable, while the movie version Snape is shown to be nothing more than a strict teacher, when in the books he is so much worse, as a person. Great reaction, but the books are worth it.

Just wanted to point out this great bit of foreshadowing, if you remember back to HP4: The Goblet of Fire. In Mad-Eye Moody’s first class, witnessing the cruciatus curse performed on that bug made Neville visibly uncomfortable/uneasy. Then, revealed in this film, that his parents were driven insane long ago by the cruciatus curse. Makes sense why seeing that spell would have such an effect on him.

In the book when they fired Professor Trelawney, they had the Centaur from the first movie that saved Harry in the forest fill in for her as a teacher. And I'm not sure they touch on this in the movie, but professors Trelawney is the one who made the prophecy about Harry and Voldemort, she gave it to Dumbledore on the night he interviewed her for the teaching position at the school, that's how she got the job, *someone* (no spoilers) heard part of the prophecy and told Voldemort, he only knew part of it, which was why he tried to trick Harry into getting it for him from the ministry.

So you met the most hated character of the HP movies 😂 I don't know a single person who can stand Umbridge. I already hated her from the book, so kudos to the actress (Imelda Staunton) for portaying her like that 👌
In the book it wasn't Cho who told on them, but her friend. The whole story how they were fighting/not speaking to each other at the end of this was a bit more complicated in the books and I do like it better there, even though I wasn't very interested in their relationship in the fifth book anymore, there was a whole valentines date story in the fifth book, which I was pretty much just bored of, but it kinda made more sense than in the movie. Totally get that they didn't put it in the movie though.

No, it's because James was a privileged a*s really and found great joy in bullying a kid that clearly came from a much less privileged background. Neville was actually a great wizard. He was good at JUST Herbology was because he didn't have a wand that suited him. In the books his father and mother were tortured by cruciatus curse due to which they were driven mad during the first wizarding war. So when neville had to start hogwarts, he took his father's wand which did not suit him.
As ollivander had said "the wand choses the wizard" , neville actually didn't have his own wand for first 5 books and in the fifth book after he broke his fathers wand he got himself a new one and later performed really well. Also that is the reason he became uncomfortable when moody used the cruciatus curse on the spider in the 4th movie as it was the same curse which drove his parents mad

In the book Cho didn't betray Dumbledore's army. It was her friend Marietta (I think that's her name) who did it. She soon regretted it though because Heemione enchanted the parchement they signed on so that whoever told about the army would have pimples on their face that spelt "Sneak". It took Marietta many years to get rid of the pimples. It's kinda sad that Cho's character is so hated because of the movies. I do agree that she should've prevented her friend from telling Umbrige though, or at least try.

The others can still ride them but they don’t see them which is really scary when they are flying to London cause they see nothing but air underneath them.

And yes, Umbridge is the most evil baddie in the show besides Voldemort. All the others are either just spoiled and selfish or bigots, but Umbridge is pure malevolent fascist. The person holding onto Harry in Dumbledores office and seen standing behind the Minister at the end is Percy Weasley,. A middle brother one or two years older than Fred & George. In the books it was explained he’d become a lackey of the Minister and had completely shut out his family because he was determined to toe the party line (denying Voldemort’s return) and to move up in his political ministry career. This was very upsetting to Molly and the books also covered how hurt she was by the split in her family

There was a little more information about the giants in the book, Hagrid was there for a few weeks and one night they had an uprising and the king was killed and another took his place, the new king wasn't as accepting of Hagrid and Dumbledore (Dumbledore wasn't there, he just didn't like him that much)
Idk if they made it clear in the movie, but Dumbledore was avoiding Harry because he knew about the connection between Harry and Voldemort and didn't want Voldemort to know Dumbledore had a closer relationship with Harry fearing he would try to learn about the Order of the Phoenix's plan through Harry, also why he didn't want Harry in any of the meetings or Ron and Hermione to tell him anything about what they knew.

So Harry and Nymphadora are actually distantly related.
James Potter and Sirius Black are related through Dorea Black who is James’ Grandmother and Sirius’ Great Aunt.
Sirius Black is cousins with Andromeda Tonks (formerly Black) who is Nymphadora’s mother.
Sirius is also cousins with Andromeda’s 2 sisters, Bellatrix Lestrange and Narcissa Malfoy, who is Draco’s mother, meaning that Harry and Draco are also distantly related. And Draco and Nymphadora are first cousins.
You can pretty much assume that all of the pure blood wizarding families are related to each other.

Chris columbua who directed the first two movies said it was a nightmare job on one hand becuase of the detail expected and the rules around child actors. But a tota joy because though the toatally British cast were some of the biggest names there was not a single ego amonst them. They came in and got on with the job.

Ah yes, Perry Hotter was always my favourite character in this series.
No but in all seriousness, my favourites were Fred & George, then eventually Ginny & Luna, and Tonks. Sadly all characters who were greatly reduced in the films. This movie at least is great for Fred & George but the unfortunate thing is they're that great in every book!
This movie is my favourite. Others might be objectively better but seeing this in theater was one of the best experiences I've had, and on my birthday as well, and seeing more of my favourite book characters was awesome (so many introduced in this film). The ending, starting with the Thestral flight throughout the entire Ministry segment, was in 3D which was something I'd never experienced and was mind-blowing! Btw the kids riding the Thestrals who can't see them, needed help to get on and then the entire flight would have been terrifying as they can feel the Thestrals but wouldn't have actually seen anything under them.

the ministry's sudden distrust in Harry and Dumbledore is pretty jarring coming off the last movie IMO. in the books their is infact a large bust-up in the hospital wing in the penultimate chapter which sets this up much better. Basically the fake Moody - Barty Crouch Jr. - gets killed by a dementor before Fudge can hear his confesion on Voldermorts return - and Fudge thinks Harry and Dumbledore are intentionally lying or choosing to accept the word of a man man for no purpose but to destabilize Fudge's control at the Ministry.
also a very minor point i so wish they kept in as it adds depth to the world for very little screentime is the fact that the blonde Witch who leads the "anti-conviction" group of politicians is the aunt of Susan Bones - a Hufflepuff student in harry's year and a member of the DA. its infact her who asks Harry about is Patronus at the first DA meeting, as Maddam Bones was so impressed by the fact Harry managed such a powerful charm she told Susan about it.
