Love learning how the greater good can be realized by decentralizing currencies, loans, etc. Humanity can and will NOT want to fund weapons of mass destruction!

the devil you know is better than the angel you don't know - is better to fund what you believe in than letting others decide funding what you don't know

If the bank was the legal owner of your money, you wouldn't be able to take your money out of the bank at any time and without notice to the bank. The entire premise of this presentation rests on this mis-statement of fact.

Respectfully, just because some banks don't exercise their right to peoples deposits, does not mean it is not true. The people of Cyprus soon realised this when the banks exercised this right through Bail Ins. Across the world they have introduced policy to make bail ins easy. The fact that banks own your money is a fact and one of the the reasons why most governments have to introduce deposit insurance on some deposits.

Herbert Osborne , respectfully, you are incorrect. A quick and easy search using Google easily provides numerous documents/articles that verify the validity of the information given by this presenter at TED.
Why would someone go upon a widely viewed public forum as reputable as TED Talks, having worked in the UK financial industry, and now running a far superior investment and venture capital raising business lie about one among the many reasons that he founded his enterprise driving business?
" Money deposited in a bank account is, as established under case law going back more than 200 years, legally the property of the bank, rather than the account holder."
While the presenter here is talking about the UK financial market, the same is true of the US financial market, wherein the behemoth "Private Banking Institution" falsely believed to be a central banking system regulated and owned by the US Government and thus, the People, is a farce that has resulted in the very real crippling debt that Thomas Jefferson and John Adams fought so diligently to defeat, only so that in 1915, Woodrow Wilson would so disgustingly sell the nation and the future of that nation to the very same "Den of vipers and thieves" that now enslave the globe. Look into it... It's a rather eye opening and sickening answer to the underlying rot that is to blame for the sickly and visibly crumbling world economy.
To address the crimes of the monolithic private banking system that brought persons such wonderful periods such as the Great Depression and the same despicably orchestrated wealth grab in the 2008 housing market collapse and the aftermath, The Great Recession, Bitcoin seeks to free persons beholden to these banking crooks by introducing a digital currency that does not allow for some self ordained group of elitist pricks to control and generate absurdly large profits off of nothing while taking from those free person that are not so free as they are in soul crushing debt to these crooks.
This was yet a again another fantastic TED Talk that all would be wise to listen to and learn from.
      Regards,
      Joseph

Sigh... please actually learn something about what you make your opinion on. This is not the 90's where you think something to be true because it makes sense to you that way. You can find your actual answers if you bother looking.

Herbert Osborne If you would like to understand the banking system try reading this publication by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. lisgi1.engr.ccny.cuny.edu/~makse/Modern_Money_Mechanics.pdf I believe you will find that many things you think to be true are in fact not.
