Heart warming film. I stayed in a communal lodge once for a few weeks straight - I made some very strong friendships ...with no where better to go... or no where be... in deep mid winter - snow all around the skirts of the tipi... The fire never went out, there was always hot water in the kettle... there was always food in the pot... My dreams were fantastic - inside the lodge - on my back - my defences down - dodging the drips and drops of the raining down canvas - looking up into the opening in the tent - the gap between you and the cosmos - you get the feeling that you are inside the great womb. The great mother. About to give birth to you... if your lucky :) Lucky to be alive :)))
Having lived here for the first 20 years of my life I very much approve of this film. I was very sorry to hear about Chris but he was given an amazing send off. thank you for this amazing video!
R.I.P Chris...it was a pleasure meeting you...I hoped to see you once more but now I can be only glad to have met you, talked to you and to have experienced a part of you.
i lived in the valley on and off for a couple of years during the early eightes it was good not easy living but onece you became acustomed to how to live by a fire and carry water it was good i learned how to sing how to play a drum keep the fire going always a cup of tea or a meal for anybody garath and diana jakie and charlie rhiner and his wives clinky a man who played classical gutar so butifully the swets the butifull never ending rain the mornings looking out over the valleys with a rollup and a hot cup of tea an incredible way to live it changed me it changed everything today i live in canada how ironic
I've been searching for so long to find a beautiful place like this in England.... You are 153 miles away from me next week I intended on packing my bags and making the walk to you I hope the weather is nice for when I arrive 🐝
Loved my Time here... With the incredible Chris...Hawkmoons rosewood smoked goats cheese...Simons freshly ground wheat chapatti's and that drumming !! I've been far away wiv the glorious weather in S.oFrance and have even had a spell as a housewife...but my time in the Valley very much felt like home.Love to all that keep growing in spirit there..xx
Recognised Brian at the beginning, had so many adventures with that guy...Tribe in the City...of all places ,had hilarious adventures...even though Brian was a very Serious guy !! Chris could educate us with every word...I loved to listen to him,Simplifying our needs & wants, fair & honest...My Bunny,Tina Tumbletoes is my guide now..Has her own Tipi and is a Beauty ,so at ease upon the Earth...!! They're having such a hard time atm. Man has designed 3 killer diseases and realeased them from the other side of the World...They only took weeks to reach London as they are airborne and kill every single Bunny...In a horrific way...Yes you can obtain vaccines against them...but every wild Bunny doesn't have that option..Consequently 22 types of Bunny are really close to extinction...Anyway had to mention our Tribal Queen Tina Tumbletoes. Our Beautiful Bunny..I'm 100% Certain Chris Would of Loved her from her long silky ears, to her big fluffy thumpers !! R.i.p. Chris.xx

Great video! 👍 I remember going to a few good parties up there :) Got chased down the road to Cwmdu by a highland cow the next day after one,Haha!😄🙌🏴 Definitely seems one of the last free places in Wales....
it's too bad that the majority would met with scrutiny if they chose this type of living instead of pursuing wealth and other meaningless toys. society has become rabid from consumerism, terrified from the reality of death, so we gorge ourselves in food, shiny toys and a competitive state of mind, and missing out on life. like a junkie, desperatly trying to keep the illusion going but becoming more and more self-destructive.
This is super cool and well, being from the wet mountains of Oregon I will probably not heed your advise and come visit this February....but I will bring song, warmth, love and my guitar...really looking forward to meeting you all...I am a fan of the band Man, I am part of the Holy Modal Rounder Family and my roots are Welsh...first trip...looking forward to meeting you all! LJM
I'd love to live there. I really love what all these folks have acheived. I'm only happy when I'm in my natural environment, away from (un)civilisation. I'm not sure how well my dog would get on with all the cats though...!
Yurts also are good structures to live/stay in... There is a bloke in England who makes lovely ones sustainably. Wales is extremely wet...That is the main downside.. the rain.
We lived in a Bender one summer working on a farm..{made for us by Romany Gypsy} we had a kitten/cat who loved the woods and she never went far.. They do love the life.
Hi Naomi ! my name is John ...been living Thailand 14 years and ready to get back to earthy times left for me..asking the same question as you..did you make any discovery's ?? regards J.
Hi, I live in a town about 3 miles from Tipi valley. I can confirm it is still habited, I went to school with a large number of them and worked with another. Very interesting to get a first hand account of their lifestyle.
Very much so, a friend from uni, lives theres still it where she raised her children she lives in a sort of round house she built, can't remember the name of what they are called exactly, but shes lived theyre for over 14 years
great film, but no mention of the language and host culture which is also an integral part of a sustainable communityin Carmarthenshire , and woven into the fabric of the landscape of Wales - living in the ladscape means embracing this
Because it's a lie. The majority of people living in Tipi Valley weren't Welsh speaking. It's founder was English and adopted learnings from a book about Native Americans? It is Carmarthenshire, however, this is has no significant impact on the documentary as Carmarthenshire is a town formed by the Romans, with historic roots in farming and coal? None of which had anything to do with the documentary we were making.
a long standing Tipi that never gets taken down doesn't look that healthy to me , all the green algi at the top of it ( outside ) , put it up and down would most likely had avoided it ..i think >:-)
Ok i have questions. Where do they get their food? If the answer is grow it, then where do they get the money for the seeds to grow said food? The one lady says she teaches yoga. To who? I mean I am not being a smart alec just wondering how this works. As someone who is accustomed, as most of us are, that it takes money to live where is their money coming from?
Most tend to use their feet and walk to the local shop a few miles away for food. Others grow their own- you don't really need to buy seeds, as you can easily acquire seeds and grow. The lady in question, who teaches yoga, also drives and has was not born in the Valley. She also has internet and a mobile phone. One of the most famous inhabitants, a man the press names 'Swampy'; has a building company and creates ordinary houses for a living and makes a very good living. Some rely almost without any money at all. Fire wood, grown food and spring water.

Another world is possible 🙂✌🏻

Wales is extremely wet...That is the main downside.. the rain.
How did you get the cat settled living in a tipi without it running away & not knowing where it's home is?
Many cats live around the area...many have adapted to that habitat and live in the wild..but are very friendly
We lived in a Bender one summer working on a farm..{made for us by Romany Gypsy} we had a kitten/cat who loved the woods and she never went far.. They do love the life.
And some music from JimJam is in here.
at 7mins instrumental the subtitles say love done them home :) x
This is 2018, is tipi valley still alive?

Some collected money from the state as the unemployed. But that was back a decade or more ago.
They be lots of wood for the tipi fire ,round house people
