Man, intense scene, beautiful truthful words that you could see that Pacey was dying to say, such a shame they ended it this way but if guys could at least be honest like Pacey did we would understand men much more. Great acting by both Katie and Josh. Ugghhh breaks my heart this episode. Tough to watch.
You could see this moment coming ever since Pacey started trying to win Joey over. He focused ALL his attention on making her happy, making her feel special. Even the boat was pretty much for her.
But he lost himself along the way. He didn't - or couldn't - find the time to better himself, to figure out who HE was going to be. So he ended up bitter. All the great moments - the wall, the boat, the summer, the ski lodge - they all came at the expense of Pacey's growth. In retrospect, they seem less great and more like "arrrrrrgh, pacey just open up a book or pay attention to something else!"
Yeah I love Pacey and Joey, but they just needed that break for Pacey to find himself and be able to make himself happy
That's what happens when a person goes for someone out of his league.
Joey was always immature at the first seasons, though. Or maybe it was Pacey who matured faster... I think Pacey faced real life before any other character on the show and expanded his horizons beyond their hometown - and it always felt like it wasn't enough for him. He took more risks both emotionally and professionally than anyone. He became a grown man by the end of the series.
Joey really deserved Dawson since he was not immature per se but very naive, stupidly naive... to the point of thinking that what he had with her was love. What Joey and Pacey had was love. I think Joey understood love because of Pacey, meaning he was always one emotional step ahead of her in understand life.
@@redacted2275 I disagree I think jen character went through a lot and was lot more mature than all the characters put together. To be fair what andie character went through in season 2 before they ruined the character was pretty hard . You know joeys character mothers death and dad's imprisonment effect her but she was the least mature of them all . Pacey character had problems but no way in the same as jen but I liked pacey. Dawson started OK but his parents relationship between season 1and2 effected him and his struggle with joey in season 2 . Truth be told Dawson grew up and became better in later seasons. Rewatching the show I like Katie holmes but honestly joey character out of all of them was my least favourite now .
Pacey should have not have yelled at her the way he did.
He was telling her he was depressed and she was trying to will him to change like magic. Dude needed to love himself first in order to love her.

I really had to see this in a moment where my boyfriend broke up with me for these same reasons, really hurt ngl and he said he wanted to see if we could try again once he did become the person he wanted to. Idk man this really hurts

@@JacquelineRoseSchlegel which is why Andie was so much better for him than Joey ever was. She brought out the best in him, Joey was so self absorbed and brought out the worst.

In this scene and all of their scenes together is that The way he looks at her is the best part of their relationship no one else look at Joey like that but Pacey!!!!!!!!!
One of my absolutely favorite moments of them and the most heartbroken scenes ever they play Pacey and Joey so amazingly done Joshua and Katie!!!!!!
Even though it was over for them at that time, I still didn't give up on them.

because you don’t give up on the people you love. you don’t just walk away when things get tough for them.
you sit beside them and play their favourite song. you stay with them through thick and thin, in good and back, in success and failure.
Because you love them and that’s all that matters to make you not give up and stay.
This was the only bad thing pacey has ever really done. I mean his reasons were valid and the reaction wasn't a nice one but it was going to happen sooner or later cause he's always been a puncher not a speaker

Pacey was struggling and hurting it had nothing to do with Joey I know deep down he loves her he just doesn’t want to hurt anymore so he wants her to back up from him for a while because he will continue to hurt her with words that he doesn’t mean there was nothing Joey can do at that time he was insecure to he was in a lot of pain even when you love someone so much sometimes there not enough you need space to figure out how do I handle this situation without them.

@@bmonster I agree. When Joey was dating either Dawson or Pacey there was just a lot of fighting. I prefer when the 3 of them were just friends it was much more enjoyable to watch. And Joey finally moving on from the 2 of them would have been a good character growing moment for Joey.
Love Joey and Pacey's chemistry here! 💗 Katie and Joshua apparently dated for a while offscreen, with her even citing him as being her "First True Love." 💖

They actually dated during 1 season and the beginning of season 2. Also, it was documented that in real life James did not like Katie and was very rude to her during some key points of the several seasons. How ironic is it that the young man casted as your soulmate was rude and hateful at times the to you, the female character, in real life and the young casted as your sarcastic pain in the side was in fact your real life boyfriend and first love.

The piece about KH and JV came out much later, not by KH but other actors and crews members when they talk about the dynamic on set. JV tried to change the narrative, but KH did confirm some actual incidents in one of her interviews. However, KH and JJ was talked about so much it was hard not to know this information. KH has never hide this information...she stopped talking about it so much when she was married to TC but we know that relationship was strange. In fact, JJ talks about not really connecting with KH again until after her relationship ended with TC and she was the one who reached out to him.

@@livijohnson4087 Pacey was doing pretty well in season 2 when he was dating Andi, it's in season 3 and 4 when he was trying to make Joey happy and be there for her all the time that Pacey let himself go.

I hate this to but it was coming Pacey was like this for a while his insecurities so because of this he let his anger get the better of him they definitely need a break this was the only time Pacey lashed out his anger on Joey.

I never understood how after this scene people could call joey & pacey an epic love or make them endgame. reality of this situation if your bf tells you that he feels trapped in the relationship, that you make him feel stupid and worthless and hes going to continue to take his anger out on you…MOST girls would NOT take the guy back. I had a hard time enjoying their relationship after this bc to me this fight, being disrespected in public like that- be my last straw for good.
If i make him feel stupid i would fix my attitude and try to lift him up

They got back together because he grew up an matured and they both experienced life away from each other and thats what brought them back together to get another shot
Because after this scene it started all them adult life’s. They were young and of course insecure. Pacey had his family who always underrated him, then he started his relationship with Joey but for him it wasn’t enough because he had his insecurities, also in his relationship with Joey there was always the ghost of Dawson. Personally, I think that Joey cared more about Dawson than Pacey.

I'm probably the only person who didn't like Pacey & Joey. (No chemistry) I absolutely loved Andi & Pacey. They had tons of chemistry together.
I completely agree Andie and Pacey challenged each other and pushed each other to be better. Their relationship seemed real and genuine and I don't know if it's just me but I thought that their chemistry was off the charts. I don't really see that chemistry with Pacey and Joey and they just seem to fight all the time without getting anywhere or learning from it. All Pacey did when he was with Joey was bring up how she wasn't over Dawson whenever they got into any argument whatsoever and make her feel guilty for succeeding when he wasn't. It felt like they were constantly walking on eggshells around each other. Both of them were toxic to the relationship whereas Andie pushed Pacey to be better and he helped her find comfort and get better during rough times.

When this happened I jumped for joy. I for one think Joey is the devil. I think its karma when she gets hurt. Maybe if she were more mature this wouldn't have happened.

Lol the fanbase of this show is so incredibly oblivious and biased. Whenever Pacey does terrible stuff it’s always justified because of “his feelings” but whenever Dawson does he is “the worst”. In the same way no one recognizes the many toxicities of Pacey and the huge amount of good and mature things that Dawson did throughout the series.
Just admit it, you like Pacey because he’s funny, you will always turn the wheel to believe what you wanna believe
