    Thank you very much Cliff for sharing your expertise! Nice to meet you Sandra! Thanks, Kim for doing this interview. I'm hoping to grow a few large tomato varieties this year. Even though they won't be giant, Cliff's tips will be helpful. Domingo, an 11 pound tomato?! WOW! Interesting wall of water product. I'll have to check out the prices. Thanks for the link! I hope Cliff sends you pictures of his bigger tomatoes once they've grown. Especially the true single tomatoes. Have a great Sunday!

    Great Topic! Now I have a few more tomato varieties to try next year. Next year, Classic Beefsteak and Dad's Sunset will be returning to the garden. This year for cherry tomatoes, I m growing 1 Large Red Cherry, 1 Black Cherry, 1 Sunset Bumble Bee, 1 Super Sweet 100, and 2 Sun Gold. For large tomatoes, I am growing 2 Martino's Roma, 2 Celebrity F1, 2 Grand Marshall F1, 2 Thronburn's Terra-Cotta, 2 Bonny Best, 2 Dad's Sunset, and 2 Arkansas Traveler. I'm thinking that will be enough for two people, and I may have to share a few with friends and family.

    Hi I have a friend here in Nashville TN that grows giant tomatoes and I was really hoping he would tell us what he uses in his soil? He stated that you have to make your soil rise? Is he referring to using yeast? My friend has massive tomato plants and he uses tomato paste which is very inexpensive and a packet of yeast with warm water. Then he lets it sit and pours it in a gallon watering can. I would like to know how he does his soil thanks

    • @YACABE
      @YACABE ปีที่แล้ว

      I understood it as a metaphor..like preparing your soil/beds in the fall (compost, fertilizer, tilled in cover crops, or whatever you use) and allowing it to rest undisturbed (rise) so the soil microbiology can establish itself. These beneficial microbes help with nitrogen fixation, nutrient bioavailability, increased crop yields, plant stress, pest and disease, and just overall soil and plant health.
      Disturbing the soil decreases microbial activity, and it takes time for it to reestablish (or rise).

    Cliff! I love the wall of water idea!! So will it also work in the summer heat?

    • @CliffWarren
      @CliffWarren ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Stephanie, Once you have good weather I’d take the wall of water off. Eventually the plant needs to breathe and grow in the full sun. An interesting point, you don’t really need to harden off your plants when they go in the wall of water, but once you take it off… it’s best if the weather is very mild and allow the plant to acclimate slowly. Good question!
