    @7:55..We’ve ALL done that hundreds of times,lol.This was a great vid/mod.I’ve gotten away from G-Shocks the past 4-5 years,but I really like this look.I had the square G when I was about 15 but went into the Mudman,GA1000 and the Stormtrooper(8900??).That square face and mod kit is really calling me.Great Job👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🍀🍀🍀

    Did you hear about the old man that bought himself a new car? When he got home, he went into the garage, came back with a hammer, and wacked a fender. When asked why he'd do such a thing, he replied that now he didn't have to worry about it.

    Seems that this was the 3rd gen of the G Refit set. They had standard solid end links which tend to move to much and slip out. 2021 got 4th gen that has identical shape end links like the Casio does. Those sit firm on a caseback with that lip. Less articulation but sturdier.

    Wouldn't messing with the original case cause issues with thebwater/shock resist? Sure looks good though. Especially that distressed copper

      If you look at 5:48 you can see the module and case alone on the bottom center of your screen. That’s the water resistant part of the watch. Since he only removed the bezel that goes around the case it doesn’t mess with water resistance. The bezel is for added shock protection and aesthetics.

    I just went through the process and put on the metal bezel. There is a very faint rattle, between the metal bezel and the module, when I move the watch. It looks like the factory metal G shocks have a plastic insert between the metal bezel and the module; any idea where we can get that?

    Thanks for this video. Inspired me to order identical kit for my 5610, and the end result was great for an item for ~50 euros. There was no battle to get the bracelet fitting to the watch itself, so lucky me I guess. The end result on this black finish is rather shiny and the coating will probably scratch rather easily, but as you said i think it will just look better when it is has attained a few battle scars anyway. 👍🏻

    So there is no water proofing on the watch cover itself? So it doesn't really matter which case you use, only the housing of the watch is waterproof? as well as the back plate? Thats kool, Also it must be lighter than the real thing, because it doesn't have a full metal module housing and a full metal screw on back plate.
    Thanks for sharing.

    Hmmm. I trust the quality of Casio. I don't trust the quality of these second party products. But I guess making a bezel and bracelet aren't rocket science. I have a gw5000u, and the most I might do is add a combi bracelet. But, to each their own. And I'll admit, the finished product looks great.

    I have both a DW5600 (the blacked out BB-1 model) and a mod kit (Went with the camo) on the way. Hopefully I won't put the bracelet on upside down like I did this morning putting a very nice SS one on a Vostok. You wouldn't think it would be that weird opening a clasp the opposite way, but it really is.

    Just did The Procedure to a 5600 with the rainbow/oil slick version today. Came in the same exact box as yours. Yes, my box was falling apart too. Same thank you note. Had to file the lugs on one end of the watch to get one of the end-links to fit. The pins (not mini springbars) on the bracelet were a nightmare to size. I bent a pin on my bracelet sizer. Most of the pins showed some rust. End result was beautiful, though.

      @@marcbaigrie2295 Hey Marc, are you referring to how often the straps break? It used to happen every couple years or so I guess, back when I was a teen, but then again I lived in the Caribbean and was often around salt water which could have accelerated the breakdown of the straps. I just ordered a replacement housing for my dad's G-Shock because his came off his so he's been wearing it exposed without the body protection.

  • @differentbutsimilar7893
    @differentbutsimilar7893 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Can't for the life of me get the other side of the pin into the module on the strap. Just will not find that hole and go in. Spring bars are nightmares on these watches. Kind of wishing for screws for once. I've been at the first side of the strap for an hour. Something to keep in mind. Maybe with experience it's easier but I'm pulling my hair out trying to align the lever side. I feel like it's just the fact that housing is resin and thus... snaggy. The pin is blocked. Common problem. Usually you'd force it. Question is, where's the room to get in with the spring bar tool and do that here? Can I please abandon these jeezlus lever spring bars and use the originals or will that make this a permanent job? :P
    Just to update, I did eventually get it. It's not about wiggling. You've gotta keep pressure on the lever while rotating on the axis of the spring bar, with everything aligned. You'll know you're aligned because the 'loose' side will stick in place slightly, even though it's not "in" in. I used the spring bar tool on the lever itself and while holding pressure towards the lug, slowly pivoted the link straight in the direction of the case. Not up and down or side to side, not back and forth, but right with the normal swinging action it would have when in. It works past the blockage and pops in almost every time.
    Why nobody ever explains this, I'll never know. Otherwise great video though!
