Hey Ian, I was wondering how the gold coating has held up over the last two years you had the watch Does it get scratched through easily (with bare stainless steel showing through)? I've read from elsewhere that the colour would gradually fade away. Did you notice that with yours? Cheers
@@ianfann That's cool. I've been debating between buying the original one versus modding. I have the original stainless steel version which I love. I heard that the quality of the mod is comparable to the original (in terms of the finish & quality), so I've been meaning to try. But I was worried that the IP coating may not be as good. Thanks for the answer !
Thanks as a 70+ watch owner i can say that I love my Casios. But still have to wear them all, so the wrist time saves the coating and everything forever I gues. Just cant stop buying more :) For just trying out some color variations i can recommend buying the SKMEI Version of the metal DW5600. They go for around 20 Dollars but are well worth the money.
@@TheSpacemarine1980 so I’ve since bought the mod kit and another coated full metal g-shock (the bronze casioak). I gotta say, there is a noticeable difference between the quality of the original and the mod. The mod is about 70% there - the edges are sharper to the touch on the mod, and the high polish round indentations on the bracelet have a noticeably inferior finishing. The clasp is where the biggest difference lies: the quality of the original is far superior. But other than that, the mod gets pretty close. And I find the IP coating very durable. Like most collectors I also have an issue with having too many watches and only one wrist for them… so I don’t wear them enough to really beat them up. But I don’t particularly baby my watches either. Apparently the IP coating actually makes the watch more scratch resistant. My original stainless steel full metal g-shock has picked up many scratches over the years, a lot of them marks of desk diving. So far none of my IP coated ones have such marks.
I think you're meant to take the case back off before attaching the bracelet. Are there different shades of gold with these straps? Also, are all the straps and cases marked 'G-Shock' etc in reality but just not in the online sales images?
There are at least 2 shades of gold, i saw a rose gold tint, and maybe others, usually the seller can't put up pictures with Casio logos on the website, but you will receive a product with logos, you have to look form customer reviews with pictures. Source i got one of these straps and bezel kit from aliexpress.

no it is a DW5600E, i personally do not know if there are any differences between the two, try any of the blogs for g shocks to see if there is a difference.
You made it hard for yourself, you put the bracelet first then the bezel, it would been easier
Thanks for the tip!

Do the color fade?
I've been wearing it everyday, so far it hasn't fade.
I have one and it's still perfect after 5 months.

@@ianfann is the stainless steel metal band and bezel shown in the link ori? Will it affect the shock resistance if i change it?
Nope it's not original, it's aftermarket. Shock resistance not guaranteed. Do it at your own risk.
