Research on Heavy Oil: Properties and Processing

Schulich School of Engineering's Dr. Harvey Yarranton discusses this immensely valuable, sometimes controversial, resource for Alberta.
An understanding of heavy oil phase behavior and fluid properties is critical for developing this resource as efficiently and safely as possible. This presentation will illustrate the link between fluid modeling and some key issues in heavy oil recovery, and highlights recent research in this area at the University of Calgary, particularly on viscosity.
