  • There is a European subculture you didn’t know about:
    Welcome to the world of pigeon racing. 🐦 🏁
    These people breed, train and race pigeons as a hobby. They are stereotypically pictured as older Europeans who live in rural areas. But, we found someone very different.
    Kobe Herbots is a 24-year-old pigeon racer from Belgium, Europe’s HQ for this sport. Kobe wants to win the last national race of the season to prove to people that he can be the next great racer in his family.
    Join us and step into Kobe's crazy world of racing 🏁, dedication 🧠 and money 💰.
    00:33 Part 1 - Meet Kobe, the pigeon master
    02:34 Part 2 - Getting ready for the pigeon race
    06:28 Part 3 - The €50,000 stud pigeon
    07:59 Part 4 - Pigeon race day

    Keep up the good work and am sure one day you will succeed the dedication you show is what I was like as a young man I raced pigeons back in 1970s in Liverpool England and me and my father achieved our goal winning the Liverpool amalgamation so never give up and all the best for the future 👍

    me too. Pigeons are #1. I got into it on my own. I am not part of Pigeon Royalty like Kobe. My last name is Pigeon though so it is fitting. I just love them. Ive had them in my life for 18 years. 9 of those years I have had a loft.

      You don’t need to. Many of those guys compete in multimillion $ races. So for them it’s a investment. Don’t assume if someone pays 1.2 million for a bird it’s stupid. People that can afford million $ purchases have that money because they are smarter than average human.

    To answer the thumbnail question well yes to finally free them in a place no one can hurt them yeah not in a cage. And yes i know they would die in the wild. But that's the nature cycle which humans 110% destroyed.

    • @cali_cal
      @cali_cal ปีที่แล้ว +1

      they can fly away anytime he release them but they come back

    • @enentr

    • @ArtisticlyAlexis
      @ArtisticlyAlexis ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Pigeons are domesticated birds that got out long ago and took over the world sometimes due to our encouragement. They're not meant to be wild and lost some of that "natural cycle" thousands of years ago. In the wild most feral pigeons die from age 3 to 5. In captivity they can easily survive 5x that. Do you think the bird wants to watch over it's shoulder it's whole life, spending all day searching for food they don't always find? Or would they rather sleep, eat, have a huge family with their mate, and fly daily returning to the safe space of an aviary?
