There are people (like John McLaughlin, over 80) and many others out there whom are brilliant guitarists, not to mention other musicians- whether it be drummers, bass players, pianists, etc., that are equally brilliant! People have to remember that today's 64 year-olds, are more like 46 year-olds, 50 years ago! If you want to witness it for yourself 'live', you'd have to go to little pubs, and Sunday night jam sessions- wherever they hang out.

Just think, realize this man Kenny Petrie if 64 years old in 2022, was born 1958, perhaps later in 1957: How old are Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Peter Frampton, Ozzie Ozbourne, David Gilmore, Roger Waters [despicable, disgusting, inhuman being], Paul Simon, Art Garfunkel, Ringo Star, Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford, Steve Howe, Rick Wakeman, Kieth Emerson, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Mark Knopfler, Charlie Daniels, Neil Giraldo [& Pat Benatar], Tom Scholz [& Boston Band]f, KISS [Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, Peter Criss] Queen [Freddie Mercury (passed), Brian May, Roger Taylor], Styx [Dennis DeYoung, Tommy Shaw, John Curulewski, etc.] Fleetwood Mac [Peter Green, Mick Fleetwood, Jeremy Spencer, Bob Brunning, Christine McVie, John McVie, Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham], Kansas [Rich Williams, Phil Ehart, Billy Greer, Ronnie Platt, Tom Brislin, Joe Deninzon], Eagles [Don Henley, Glenn Frey (passed), Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner (passed), Don Felder, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit ], David Coverdale, Bryan Adams [and Simon Cowell (born 1959) (also David Walliams, Howie Mandel, Howard Stern, Sharon Ozbourne, Piers Morgan, Wolfman Jack, etc.)] and all each, every, all of the members within each band from the 1960's, 1970's, 1980's ? Thus Kenny is among the youngsters to middle teens born during the "Age of RockNRoll - Metal" (as Simon, David (and myself - born mid-1959 too). All The Best, Sincerely
Folks, Mick Jagger is 80. Rockers are getting OLD now, but still are Rocking On!! I am in my 60’s, and the rock opera Tommy came out when I was just a young kid. Nothing surprising here at all…
Yeah, my dad was classically trained & I can just picture him.sitti g in his living room.chair nodding & w/a small smile on his face. His era was Big Bands but he would've admired how clean Kenny was on his runs. If there was1 thing he could not stand it was the sound of fingers squeaking on the strings.
I'm 63 and this is the music of my generation, (Who reference intended), so I'm not surprised at this at all. A lot of us grew up playing in bands and some of the best players out there are in their 60's. Look how old Mick Jagger is and he’s STILL touring! Look how old Paul McCartney was before he stopped touring! Us older people DO HAVE SOMETHING to give to these younger generations! We CAN STILL ROCK!!!
Really shouldn't be surprised - lets' face it, he's comfortably younger than Keith Richards, Francis Rossi, Eric Clapton, Brian May, Carlos Santana and countless others who still rock.
Excellent Kenny, just goes to show, that because you or anyone of your age or older shouldn’t be written off, because you are Rocking and Rolling young man....Good for you!!!!!!!!! Please stay safe and well too

There are a ton of guitar players around still his age and even older that could do the same thing. This cat probably played a lot of rock and metal in bands in the 70's and 80's.
Just amazing how relaxed and how clean his playing was. I would love to know how far he went on the show and would Love to hear his next "Audition" as he made it through this round. I was lucky enough to experience both the 70's and 80's Rock Scene growing up in the L.A. area and even being a small part of it when catering some Music Video's. Favorite Music Video I Catered. Poisons, Unskinny Bop. Longs hours, but great fun and the Band, (especially Brett Michaels) were friendly for the most part, keeping in mind they were working 16 hours days/Nights. For a more in-depth comment on that video, just look it up and I have the top comment currently. You get to read about some fun behind the scenes stuff that occurred while catering that shoot.

I'm one of the lucky ones who know EXACTLY who Kenny is. I first saw a clip of him playing this solo about 5 or 6 years ago circulating you tube. To see Kenny up there getting the recognition he deserves for the talent he possesses at his age makes me REALLY happy for him. Check out his band Captain Spanky and the Hipthrusters (yes. That's his band's name) you'll find that video I mentioned if you search. Biggest smile on my face because of this video. Full circle moment.

Steve Vai, 62, Joe Satriani, 65, Roger Waters, 78, Brian May, 74, Angus Young, 67, Keith Richards, 78, Jimmy Page, 78, Jeff Beck, 78...
This guy knows how to make his guitar 🎸 talk, scream, and do anything he wants it do. He is literally amazing, bless you my good man, may you get many invitations to show your incredible talent all throughout 🎼🎹🎼🎹🎼🎹🎼🎹🎸🎼🎸🎼🎸🎼🎸🎼
" I mean sorry i didn't think ... oh ... here comes a rock god "😂🎸🎵
Deserves a gold buzzer
Is that a Penta-Suhr? That is a classic treasure if it is.
Suhr is 🤘 A mk1

It’s not about him being able to play… but how much fun he’s having while doing it.
ROCK ON!!! ➡➡➡ Kenny 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👍😁
Remember he's just 24 years old forty years ago. And that was the time when metal bands were thriving.
Send this to the BBC and see that I get my royalties, will ya ? Surely we can find some of " them old British producers ?"
This guy could easily pass for an inverted version of Inspector Morse on a Special Night Out , ha! He could have awakened him from one of his Mozart SLUMPS ? PRODUCERS ? Get busy with some computer magic and see what I'm a talkin' about. You got a really great PERSONA to work with here and the guitar ain't bad neither! (" Morse Goes Rogue ?") Ha.
Nothing surprising here at all…
His playing isn't sloppy at all, this guys still plays most days. What a champ
He makes it look too easy... Rock on Kenny!!
I remember him when he was in a band callled Sound Edge and also worked with him in Auchtermuchty Fife. We are the same age
What a sweet man, but so wild inside, ha ha ha!! Lovely!
his smile is very heartwarming, hes probably the sweetest guitar god ever 😢
Just proves that rock never dies and your never too old to slay lol! Devil horns in the air!! Rock on champ, rock on!
🤟🤟🤟🤟
I just love the end when they said, "None of us were expecting that" and Kenny just laughs as if he duped them.
Queen will soon be looking down and loving this
WOW. killing it. He’s really good
I'm thinking Kenny was like _"I guess you guys aren't ready for that yet.... But your kids are gonna love it!"_
Brilliant! Fantastic movie!
Don’t judge a book by it’s cover. Rock on Kenny! 🎸🎸😀👍
1:57 - 2:07 was especially amazing to me. Close your eyes and enjoy amazing.
What a neat man and a most phenomenal guitarist
I'm 63 and this is the music of my generation, (Who reference intended), so I'm not surprised at this at all. A lot of us grew up playing in bands and some of the best players out there are in their 60's. I play guitar and most of what I play is from that era...The Greatest Music of All Time!....suck on that Beiber!
Mr. Petrie deserved the golden buzzer, why no one hit that?.........i demand he must be in the final Simon
FUNNY, HA making DEMANDS of Simon?
I don't think Fred Gold is referring to unique performers such as this, when he says "some of those younger players are pretty good!"

Has some good guitar ops for Kenny!
Everyone is so patronizing. He's 64 and grew up in the hard rock era and everyone is treating him like he's 94 not 64. Treating people of any age like that is just annoying.
64 years old.
He's right in the classic rock Wheelhouse. Look at the rockers still performing 10 years older than this man.
Never quit playing
Oh, thanks' for the info: WHEELHOUSE ?

Look how old Mick Jagger is and he’s STILL touring! Look how old Paul McCartney was before he stopped touring! Us older people DO HAVE SOMETHING to give to these younger generations! We CAN STILL ROCK!!!
That just put a big smile on my face
🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 LA CARA QUE HACÍA DAVID. PARECÍA QUE LE ESTABA PASANDO CORRIENTE... 🤣 🤣 🤣
Really shouldn't be surprised - lets' face it, he's comfortably younger than Keith Richards, Francis Rossi, Eric Clapton, Brian May, Carlos Santana and countless others who still rock.
Yeah BB King was still slaying it at 88
Saw Brian May in Adam Lambert’s Queen tribute band. Dammmmm!!!!
@Banter Maestro2 🤣
@Banter Maestro2 ... Keith is 78 so that's a fair call!
@@vegasrenie It's not Adam Lambert's Queen Tribute band at all. It is Queen featuring Adam Lambert. There's a big difference!!
Excellent Kenny, just goes to show, that because you or anyone of your age or older shouldn’t be written off, because you are Rocking and Rolling young man....Good for you!!!!!!!!! Please stay safe and well too
So, who SAYS, "Your momma can't dance and your daddy don't Rock-and-Roll"?!
All the best guitarists come from the sixties and seventies when rock bands were common. They're rare these days.
He had so much fun. His facial expressions are priceless😁🇩🇰
You're never too old 😋.
The young often forget that tho we seniors/elders have gray hair, if any, & wrinkles.....that the most important thing is we have even more wrinkles in our brains.....from many decades of use 😁.
HUGS2U ❤

I see that old Roland jazz chorus amp in the back. I grew up playing on one of those love them
Wow, what a talent old man playing well guitar 🎸💕
I have been playing bass since about 1970.....I am now 67 and still plunking away...
Wonderful
Bravo well done !! he should have also played "Johnny Be Good"
like Micheal J Fox in the movie "Back to the Future"
There are a ton of guitar players around still his age and even older that could do the same thing. This cat probably played a lot of rock and metal in bands in the 70's and 80's.
Now THAT'S WHAT i'm talkin' 'bout!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 You, ROCK!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
We may be in our 60's now but ... We've never forgotten to ROCK!!!
People of his age is the real rocker people, born, live and become older with the rock
Absolutely Brilliant Kenny this guy is up there with the best what a legend
He looks like Marty McFly on that stage. Great audition
Holy F🎸🎸k💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
Well kenny you smashed it Good luck next week

Badass grandpa! Play those licks sir!
I’m here tonight to pass out lollipops and melt faces and I’m all out of lollipops. 😂😂😂
Mr Spankey and the hipthrusters.
I am happy that I saw the full thing of this or else I won’t here the judges comments
Awesome 😎 job Kenny
He has the soul of a true born to it rocker and God bless him for it!
