Thanks for your comment, I'm glad you find the videos helpful. I really need to get on with part 2 of the nanocad tutorial. I'm going to release a video about a Staedtler clutch pencil that I've recorded, and right after that, I will endeavour to put out a part 2 to the nanocad tutorial.
Good to see you worked that out before you gave up. Even the most expensive Autocad has the same SNAP command and it can be useful if you like to use it, I don't. I've used Autocad for many years but now that I'm retired I'm looking for good free software. I've tried several others but they don't measure up hopefully this one will.
Yes, nanocad 5 is free so I couldn't give up on it so easily. I have used it for some work but I haven't done anything heavy or extensive on it, I mostly work in the office where AutoCAD and ArchiCAD are provided, but learning autocad helps me to transfer whatever I learn back to nanocad at home. I hope this software works out for you, good luck.
The snaps are pretty screwy on this. you can add a tool bar to toggle the snaps but I still cant get a line to start from the tangent of a circle. Pretty annoying because other than that I really like the software operates like old autocad.
hi! are you still using nanoCAD? i found your vids really useful and i want to know if using nanoCAD is good in the long run and in this line of career. thank you!
Hello yes I still use Nanocad. I haven’t used it for any professional work yet, I’ve used it for home projects. But I know an experienced senior surveyor who uses Nanocad for house extension works, so it is surely useable in the long term. I will try using it for an extension design and report my findings. Glad you found my Nanocad videos helpful, I will be uploading more soon.
You should simply be able to download it from the website, NanoCAD offer a free version and paid version. I am trying the free version to see what it's like. Do you mean change the background colour? Go in 'Tools', scroll down to 'Options' and in there you can change the colour settings/background.
I've used all kinds of 3D and 2D software, including Maya, 3DS Max, Zbrush, etc. professionally...including the free stuff...going on 25 years now...and this is the clunkiest un-intuitive piece of garbage ever.
I've worked out some issues with it and have begun to try using it again, I'm having a better experience with it after learning a couple of things. Have you ever used FreeCAD? What's your opinion of it if you have?
@@DrawingTechnical Yeah, I just downloaded that the other day. Haven't used it all that much yet. But definitely more of a learning curve compared to nanocad. Yet another nanocad issue I ran into since this last comment. The app will crash when trying to move particular control points on certain splines I've created. Nothing fancy or complicated. Something like 10 objects/lines in the scene. I've used this same computer with Maya and Zbrush that had objects with hundreds of millions vertex counts, and with zero crashes. NanoCAD is just poorly made software.
I'm giving nanoCAD a run to get a thorough experience of what it's like to use it. I've used freecad and I disliked it, but people in the comments disagreed with my complaints about it so I'll be giving another go someday. I found freecad unworkable for drawing. NanoCAD is working alright......for now.
If you are going to offer videos about how to use sofware, don''t you think you should learn how to use it first, rather than complain about it and then do a follow-up video to explain why in the previous video you were using it wrong? Turning off SNAP and GRID is pretty basic -- even AutoCAD LT has the same same commands.
I was just documenting my experience with it from a Revit persepctive coming from a Revit background. I was new to autocad/nanocad. There's probably similar people out there who experience the same as me. Just looking for a suitable free software to transition to when my Revit licene was on it's final days. I am actually learning it and plan to put videos out when I feel I have enough practical experience with it. But comment noted. 👍
If you are going to criticize someone for documenting their experience, don't you think you should make a better video yourself first, rather than complain about the way information is being shared?
I appreciate you sharing this and the other lessons you're learning in NanoCad. I'm trying it for architecture and your vids have helped!

Hi, I have the 'nearest' snap on and set the polar tracking, that hlped me to get an accurate tangent on a circle. Thanks.
Looks like you may have snap to grid on
Yes that was it thanks

How do you download the free version? How do you change the background

Any joy with freecad?
@@DrawingTechnical so whats your comment on freecad?

You don't know how to use snap and you are doing videos? SMH.
At the time I was new to autocad/Nanocad and simply documented my exploration of the software. I know now.
