    It's nice to see you working a DR650. I had a '16 model that I bought new with the plan of riding on the mountain trails of Colorado, but also being street legal in order to ride to those trails. It worked out great but needed some upgrades. I did all the usual stuff first; a good skid plate, bark busters, new grips and bars, and some good DOT knobbies. Then I installed a J&E high comp. piston, Web223 cam, FMF full exhaust, and a Mikuni TM40 carb. I kept the stock air filter element and opened up the top of the airbox. I left the suspension alone because I'm fairly light at 175lbs and the bike handled the rough off-road stuff just fine as it was. The engine/carb/exhaust upgrades made a moderate difference in power, but interestingly, not as much as expected. Mid-range power is where it gained the most, which is decent power, but it's not a beast like my XR400 is with it's current upgrades (440 kit, cam, and pumper carb).

      I really like the DR650, it’s a great dual sport bike. I was considering using it to ride to Alaska but decided to get the Super Ténéré for that trip. Thanks for watching.

    I pulled the airbox out and pulled the shock out that way. I like your sudden drop method better lol

    Those DR's just don't have a real quick throttle response. Think about putting that carb needle on a grinder and giving it a finer point, then maybe adjust the clip a notch or two when you reinstall it. Once you get the fuel feeding like you want, think about a 14 tooth front sprocket. You'll lose a little off the top end, but you'll have a ball. Good luck with what ever you choose.     Did you cut the airbox? The TM40 is usually coupled with that mod and jetted accordingly for best results. Looks great though. Gonna check out those shocks now.

      The air box was cut, the stock carburetor was jetted accordingly so the TM40 was ordered from ProCycle with that in mind.....they will jet it to your parameters. Thanks for watching.

      I’m not certain, it’s my friend’s bike. I am willing to bet he hasn’t put 50 miles on it since I got it going for him!!

    I recently bought a 1990 dr650s from a kid. and I was wondering since it had been drained of gas/oil/brake fluid should I bother cleaning the carburetor? From what the kid had said last it ran was 2016-17. 🤷‍♂️

    I just got a DR650 and had to put a plastic tank it was all rusty. What Year RMZ did the forks fit from? Also any new videos on the DR650?

    What year is this DR? I was able to pick up a 1994 DR650, and looking for any information on how to get it up and running. Of course need a rear shock, it didn't have one.

      I think it’s an early 2000’s? I can’t remember when the 650 changed but it was early 90’s?

    is the ts40 carb worth the cost???? wouldnt a jet kit in the stocker work just fine,,with air box mods???

      Any modifications are only worth it if you feel like they are. The pumper carburetor gives better throttle response. The jet kit and air box mods are good too, to a lesser extent. Some people are pleased with the stock bike. Do it the way you like, most of all get out there and ride it!

      Desert Dual Sport they are RMZ450 forks. Sorry, all that was before I was doing a TH-cam channel

    Cool! Do you know if we can face some issues (specs issues) if i fit in a DR650: 1.- RMZ 250/450 front forks with a rmz 450 triple three's; and 2.- 250/450 RMZ's rear shock?
    If so wich one's?

      Manuel Dias the front forks will need some different bearings and spacers. The key switch and speedometer need to have brackets made. No idea on the rear shock.

      Dose the rmz front end make the DR650 any taller?

      @@jamoschapman2644 Yap, but my goal is to have full adjustable suspension (preload, rebound damping and compression). We all know that OEM Dr650 suspension its ok for city roads but for offroad its not suitable. Cheers mate.

      I imagine that it could be set up any way you like. The shock itself is a really nice unit.

    I undid the swingarm bolt,took it out,moved the swingarm back and dropped the shock out the bottom. Suzuki wants the airbox to be removed.

      I have done it like that for other bikes as well. Some motorcycles are easy to get the air box out while others are a pain. Thanks for watching.

      This isn’t my motorcycle and I only finished up the front end. It’s from a RMZ450, forks/wheel/brake/triples. I think it just used different bearings.
