I made a merge of both dart and glider
I always felt some magic when throwing a slow paper airplane that resists to landing, "trying" to go up again after go down to gain speed. Darts are fast and go beyond, but I do prefer flying time duration

When I was young I made a dart stunt plane that would do a constant aileron roll throughout its flight.
I originally called it the barrel roll plane due to the fact that it was inspired by star fox with "Do a barrel roll!" I had later learned that the manuver was called an aileron roll which is commonly confused with a barrel roll.

I've always found gliders to be better in general for everything besides raw speed. But speed doesn't matter when a dart nosedives half the time. Maybe gliders are more forgiving of imperfect folds, but then again good design is forgiving of mistakes.

Hybrids have the best qualities of darts and gliders which makes them the best! 😂😂😂
Thickness and size of the paper is an important factor on this issue. I liked A4 for gliders and a bit thinner A5 for darts. Once a friend made an A1 dart, and got it to fly, which was quite a sight.

So google can read minds now? I simply thought about how to make a good paper airplane about an hour ago and TH-cam recommended this to me. Didn't say anything out loud, didn't search for anything. Simply a thought at the back of my mind.

The issue with a lot of these is that paper planes fly in multiple different flight regimes in one flight. At lower speeds, air is "sticky" and this decreases the efficiency of the front section of wings at those speeds.
You know what you're talking about! At high speeds, air breaks off at the nose and barely touches the main wings, but as the plane slows down, the air adheres to the length of the plane. John Collins took advantage of this in his design of Suzanne to break the record.
of all the many paper airplane channels i visited, this is the only one i had the interest to subscribe on.

Absolutely insane vertical leap!!
The boots are heavy and as I started jumping I knew there was no way I was going to reach it. So it was a very half-hearted leap. Please don't crush my self-confidence ;-)
Darts are also better at well, being darts. Because their trajectories are more predictable and they fly faster thanks to the hard throws put behind them, they're always fun for tapping a friend on the back or aiming for a target.

well i made a random plane, it flies like a stunt plane, after the stunt it glides far like a glider and at chances it defies both of those and flies like a dart btw it is wide winged

I like hybrids the most, because its the best of both worlds!
Guys i invented this one paper airplane design that i created it myself which covers all the class. It can use for distannt flying if you throw it hard. It can also used for airloaft because i could glide long enough in the sky. It can also do tricks.

There are ways to transform a dart to a glider.
You can flatter it partially, slightly change it and it may work.

Glider planes fly better than darts
I think it just depends on what "better" means to you. Darts fly faster, gliders have a better glide ratio.
If the paper planes fly fast, it means it does not fly nicely. The gliders fly really neat when high in the sky when gliding
All I'm saying is that you're expressing a personal preference. If someone else thinks that the quality of a plane is determined by how far it flies, they might say, "In general, darts fly better than gliders." Neither of you would be wrong. You're just using different parameters for the word "better".
I'd prefer Gliders. Please make more Glider content on this channel

I prefer darts because I built one called the Hornet which’s my own design, that is just INSANE!! Especially with the way I throw it, which is bringing my arm back, and throw with full force, twisting my body as I throw, and at a 45 degree angle. The thing flies like a bullet, which is probably what I should have named it, but I wanted it name it after a giant black hornet that got in my house somehow, and is bigger than the plane, I can talk about that hornet bigger than a paper plane if you want me to

Darts are easy to fold and throw, so they're the only type I've ever really played with.

Real answer: Compress the paper into a solid ball and chuck it like a baseball. A good pitcher can throw it very far.
You might be surprised to see that a crumpled ball of paper can't fly nearly as far as a good paper airplane.
@@FoldableFlight I mean, like a really dense, compressed ball that's way more tightly packed than it just being crumpled. A hydraulic press could work.
@@scotthappy6885 It will still only weigh as much as a sheet of paper, which just isn't very massive. It's hard to throw light objects far.

I made a fun plane a while ago with four wings. The top wings were glider in shape and the bottom wings were short but wide and acted like landing gear.
If you threw it down it would do a loop but if you threw it gently it would glide. It worked better when made of construction paper so it was a heavy plane.

I love darts! I've been designing dart planes since 6 years old and still do! My planes are always very sharp, move in a straight line covering a large distance! They look pretty weird though...
