I just picked up one of these for free and couldn’t figure out the issue with the wheel, this was it! Thank you!

Sorry false alarm, was able to remove the platter with a little more force. Idler wheel wasn't shifting over enough to turn platter. After a few tries it loosened up enough to make contact and turn the platter. This video is the reason i found the problem THANK YOU!

Always good to lubricate vintage stuff. I took apart those two vintage clocks I got back in March and oiled them and now they run smooth and quiet.

This was exactly what was wrong with the console I picked up at a garage sale. This pivot point was seized up and it only played at 78rpm. I got it loosened up, cleaned it with some alcohol and a q-tip. I put back together and just put a drop of oil for now until I get some white lithium grease and go through and lubricate everything back up. It runs on all 4 speeds now but the needle is broken and I have to order a few of those.

How tight should the idler wheel screw be? If I tighten it firm, it's too tight to spin.

Why specifically white lithium grease and not silicon or other grease?

hello, I am writing only to inform me that today with the technician we mounted the turntable platter. and I wanted to know why the sound is slightly slower when listening to vinyl. as if the turn of the plate is slightly slowed. what could it depend on? I accept advice ... I hope you can give me advice on how to solve it

I just bought a changer like that except it's 3 or 4 years older .the seller said the idler wheel was missing so i'd like to know what idler wheel i'll need to get. can you tell me the diameter of the one on that changer?

NO STEEL WOOL on record changer mechanisms. Yikes. Rubbing alcohol, a 3M pad if you must, but NEVER steel wool. Otherwise this guy is spot-on.

I have one of these Micromatic record players in a Magnavox Astro Sonic console. The platter wont spin at all even though you can hear the motor running. I'm trying to get the platter removed to do the same maintenance on this video but after I remove the clip it won't just pull up off of the player. Is there another step in removing the platter? Thanks for any info and thanks for the video!

Sometimes after being on there for as many years as it has been it actually just gets dried up. I’d recommend putting some WD-40 and putting some on a q-tip or easily spraying it in the center of the hole. By doing that it should allow the platter to start to come up once the WD-40 makes contact with the hole and marinate in it. Sometimes you might not need to take it off all the way just loosen it up especially if you still hear the motor moving. Just make sure you lube it up as well. If it still doesn’t come up you may need to apply a Sauter iron (if I spelled it correct) to allow some cool heat on it to help lift it up. Also since it’s older feel free to take it off and clean all the shafts as well. Hope I was some help!
