    Excellent narrative on how to tune Veena. Very much helpful. Even beginners could do by seeing the video. I haven't come across such a wonderful and educative info in any of the You Tube Channels. As told by someone here, you are magnanimous to share what all you know. Awaiting to learn much more.....

    I had a doubt. When I'm practicing string pulling (4 fret pulls, 5 fret pulls), the string knob becomes loose and Shruthi goes down. What can we do to the knob for stronger grip?

      Pls use rangoli powder on the biradai and tighten it. It will stay tight . If possi pls replace guitar pegs. They are better

    Hi Ka! In old veenas we don't have these metal bridais. So while we play a gamaka if the bridais are not tight enough there are chances that it might unwind itself. So it would be really helpful if u can share some tips by which we can avoid that.

    • @veenaranjanimahesh
      @veenaranjanimahesh  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can put kola podi on sides and then tighten it..it may add grip to the bridais and avoid gaps .. 🙏

    Hello Mrs. Ranjani Mahesh, thank you so much for posting this, I found it very helpful! I have 1 related question that I am hoping you might be able to help with. You mentioned the guage (30, 32, etc) for the various strings and the tuning pitch (D through G). What is the absolute frequency for tuning the first string. Is it D3 (to G3) or D4 (to G4). Thank you very much and God bless!

    • @veenaranjanimahesh
      @veenaranjanimahesh  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mam..
      I don't understand your question exactly...bz there's no D4 or G4.. anyways..i guess u are asking which is the right pitch for Veena.. there's no absolute frequency for Veena..it depends only on the string gauge.. if u use the right gauge the resonation will be perfect. Using wrong size will end up in breakage of strings or painful playing. :) So u can use any gauge and tune acc to the size of it.

      @veenaranjanimahesh  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hope my answer cleared your doubt

    • @radhanaresh
      @radhanaresh 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@veenaranjanimahesh Mam, I am very sorry that I did not word my question correctly. I understand that the Veena pitch is relative, so the Shadjam can be set to D or E-flat or E and so on. My question was on the specific octave of these notes that the different Veena strings need to be at. For example, suppose we want to tune the Veena to E. You mentioned that the 1st string should then use #30 gauge. Using #30 string gauge should I tune the 1st string to the E note in the 3rd octave (165 Hz) or the E note in the 4th octave (330 Hz).
      Thank you again for your help, I really appreciate it!

    • @radhanaresh
      @radhanaresh 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@veenaranjanimahesh I figured it out from another video you made called "How to tune your Veena using Soundcorset app". You were tuning the 1st string to F in that video and my chromatic tuner marked it at the absolute frequency of 175 Hertz, so it is at 3rd octave (F3). Thank You!
