      So you love this one , can't say I blame you. I do too but I may be about to make it worse for you if you see what i see. Looking at the face of the guitar , with the tail sitting down. the sound hole on the right , looks like a somewhat abstract Unicorn and the one of the left could then be seen as a Phoenix . could just be me , but I think your Nebula is telling a story far greater than you yet realize. I wont even go into what i see in the woodgrain LOL that would take too long ! regardless this is one AMAZING piece of art work !

    A few years ago, 2011 I think, I was lucky enough to meet guitar luthier Patrick James Eggle and see his workshop. When he was showing me some half built acoustic guitars he mentioned that they go through a phase where they don't look too good, then they get lacquered and polished etc and come to life visually - I think you may have captured that in this video - there was a second after the first spray hit the guitar where it seemed t0 light up - I really can't wait to see the final product here, it's gonna look amazing.

    • @Jester-Riddle
      @Jester-Riddle 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for mentioning this. I felt somewhat guilty raising the matter of that transition from back of the Neck to Body ... I realise that it's supposed to be 'organic' and 'natural', but it just seems surprisingly messy in shape and colour to me, plus of dubious comfort. It'll be interesting to see what it looks like in the final outcome, but it's left me concerned also as a large element of this guitar is to be an 'art piece' and it may hamper playing.

  • @Kabayoth
    @Kabayoth 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Should you make a broach for commercial distribution? Only if you intend to make complete tuning keys.
    Crimson Whitworth 40 pitch tuning keys with custom knobs has a certain appeal even though I know you'll go with ACME or metric thread gears. After you make your first brass gear on the lathe with a tap, you'll be doing them by the bushel.
    The broaches follow the gears.

    Have you ever tried taking a jigsaw blade as a broach? I grind the back of a wood blade's spine to fit into the drilled hole. Epoxy the blade into a large dowel as a handle. This is a fast and easy way to make broaches of different sizes cheaply and easily. They help achieve square or rectangular holes in wood for the rehandling of Japanese chef cutlery in my shop. That guitar is so down my street as stabilizing burl with colours is a process I find I'm doing regularly. ✌

    Hello Ben and Folk. How about this for a video idea: Building a Guitar from Forest to Studio. The idea is an extended series of videos spanning 2+ years (or however long this would take), discussing all topics involved from the initial selection of the wood from the forest, which forest and why, which wood, which tree, etc.. Discussing the cutting and drying process(es): length, how & why, costs, etc, etc. Then there is Guitar (or a left handed Bass..) design; by hand or CAD?, etc.. Finally to the Guitars first appearance in a recording studio to the backing track of a future CC video. Just an idea mind. (edit to clarify: videos could be 6-12 months apart, time isn't the important factor)
