Absolutely fantastic! What you say about presets is so true, I've just spent a couple of hours struggling with Gadget - too many instruments and too many presets within each. I've been thinking about changing to the OP-1 to go hardware and simplify and possible get a better result and you have just pushed me over the edge to that way of thinking. Love the radio samples - it's what puts this track above so many others.
Great song. The warm feeling, light, overall tone of the video really stands out from the obvious RMR inspiration. Anyway... it’s all about the music quality and you’ve shown a lot of of talent in this ;)
FINALLY ! Thanks. Leave RMR alone sometimes. This is another human in the same dimension and reality and he deserve credit for him. Good vibes, i like it. I will use that bassline for sure !

Fantastic video and great song! It looks like the OP-1 can do automation? It seemed like your high pass filter was automated when you were playing the song back.
Hi Thomas, thanks for making this video. I wanted to know, how do you records the cords at 00:26 without making a crack/pop noise when you loop. My op-1 always struggles with this. (Has newest upgrade)
The trick I did to avoid this when recording was to record for a bit extra, then trim it off. Not sure why it happens but that seems to do the trick for me
Greetings from Ukraine ) Man, it sounds really cool! And I'm non fan of electronic music at all (I'm rocker) but this OP-1 thing is amazing and your track sounds awesome!
That's something I think a lot of people don't realize, especially those comparing Thomas to Jeremy. He's one hell of a producer and his songs are amazing. But this is dawless, all in just this device. Pretty sick :)
Love this! Can I just ask a dorky video production question? What did you shoot this with, camera-wise? Did you record in clips or one loooooong video?
Thomas Barlow excuse me about the OP 1 sound recording i have a question!! How did you record that sound directly to your cam nikon d3200? Some input on your Nikon And OP1??
@@alecswainston1560 yea. DOA. eventually i was able to return it back to sweden and get a refund, but lost money in the conversion rate, phone calls and sleep. i highly suggest buying from distributor like sweet water instead. its expensive gear and was a nightmare dealing with TE.
Despite this being *really* similar to Red Means Recording, I still think it's really entertaining and some of the more original stuff (like the watch) makes it seem like less of a rip-off and more of a heavily inspired video. Keep doing what you're doing :) Also, the music is dope 💙
Probably a little late to the game here, but what synth engine, and rough settings did you use to generate that bass sound? It's silky smooth to a fault - would like to re-create on my OP-1 here. Thanks! Digital / Low End with Nitro?
I know some of you in the comments are people who know a lot about music so im here to ask for help. Im JUST getting in to music making and my birthday is on the 23 of February (2019). I like making synthwave stuff and i want to expand my limits. I was considering getting a pocket operators to substitute for synths but i don't know if that is enough. Im open to all suggestions and im broke af so the cheaper the better (up to 120?). If you made it this far and you have a suggestion i beg you to help me :/.
It's an interesting tool for non-musicians who don't want a full keyboard (that allows you to do everything you've done with this OP-1). Sadly, however, it ends up sounding a lot like an old 80s Casio.
There is too much stimulation. Back off on the titles. You are a skilled musician and composer. I love the warm tones of the wood. You should have a light shining "north" in the frame to kill the shadows from your hands and the knobs. I wonder if you used a polarizing filter on your lens, if you could reduce the glare on the screen and make it look closer to real life in-camera… There is that adage to show and not tell. This creates a tough choice on balance when adding a textual narrative to your musical video. Red Means Recording has the ratio down. Look to him. You should make a longer video one day and tell the tale of how you got to this place (while the music is playing).
Completely blown away by this. That bassline is so perfect.
I watch the first half rmr videos but never stay for his songs. This is a much better sounding song imo.
Such incredible sounds and emotion.. I’m floating. Thank you
THATS ONE OF THE BEST SONGS IVE EVER HEARD
came here from your tiktok :)
still one of my absolute favorites
Thats a really tasty track. Some nice warm tones you're coaxing from the OP-1 there.

Bass line is very dope. Really well done. Way to be inspired by Red.
I found the song reminded me of Aquatic Ambience from Donkey Kong County in a very good way. The radio samples were the cherry on top for this!
Same, mostly the finals arpeggio.
Ohhhh yeah! Great work!

It’s not really true automation like in a DAW, it’s an LFO which you can route to different parameters.

How'd you automate the delay on the snare like that? :O
WHOOPS. I just realised you were probably changing up the delay live and the recording bit after that is a kick.
