also bruh dont be disappointed you missed the deadline this is an INSANE amount of work. as someone who has only had a couple years of training in simply just drawing, it takes me anywhere from 4-6 hours just to complete a digital drawing that I am happy with and can post on socials. Animation is literally THOUSANDS of amazing drawings. Cut yourself some slack jack you did great I cant tell you how amazing this work is.
I appreciate it greatly! You're not wrong about animation being a very time-consuming art form-- thank you for recognizing that! I can relate with taking multiple hours on an illustration as well... I hope we can both try our best☺️!
AHHHH SUN IS SO CUTE!!! I never realized how many planet things you put in the original film, it makes it so much more fun to find every little detail :D Edit : I'm not sure if that was supposed to be morse code at the end of the video, but I translated it; "O P A L." Can't wait to see what this is!
06:10 SAME! I like to make short videos putting cinematics to music, and I swear every project I've finished has one or two shots I look back on and think, "I could just make a TINY change to that and it would be SO much better." But I have to take a deep breath and tell myself to learn from it and apply it to the next project. I've actually made videos that, at the time of release, I was so burnt-out on that I didn't like how they'd turned out. But, going back and rewatching them, I realize I was doing the best I could with what I had at the time, and I take pity on / feel respect for my past self. I wouldn't necessarily say I'm better than I was when I first started this hobby, but I've certainly learned a lot and gotten to make videos I still feel proud of. Thank you so much for sharing not only your short film, but your experience behind it. I take SO much inspiration from it and I feel a lot better being reminded just how much work and time goes into passion projects. You've made my day better by making this video. Thank you again, and good luck with your future projects!
Hi! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment! I'm glad you were able to connect with the video and that it left an impact with you-- I'm honored that I made your day a bit brighter as well. Best of luck with your creative projects as well!! I hope we can both work hard and enjoy the process of growing ^^ ☀️
aaaaaa those storyboards are so rough but it conveyed the action well hehe. love the thought process of the color palettes being opposite! blue usually associated with sadness is actually sincerity and yellow usually being positive being deceit, which matches with moon being more open and sun being closed off.
those storyboards... 💀 gotta trust the process hflskjf but thank you so much for watching and for the comment! I'm glad you enjoyed the video-- and esp for taking note of the color symbolism
Loved the film. The one thing I was initially confused by was the fact that the mascot head was animated. I thought that was a REAL head, and Moon had a crush on the actual mascot, rather than crushing on a guy INSIDE a mascot costume. This was further reinforced for me when she won the mascot plushie and acted the same way towards it! Anyway, I got what was actually going on at the very end of the film, and watched it again (a few times, cause it's good) with that new understanding. So what I'm trying to say is that I would not have animated the mascot's face! Though I've seen other comments that love that you did that, so maybe it's just me! Anyway, I really enjoyed your film. I've been watching a bunch of other animation shirts recently, and yours really stands out among them. I wish I could do what you do. In fact, I'm working on it.
Hello! Thank you for the kind words and for taking the time to share your thoughts on the film-- particularly about the mascot My intention with animating the mascot's head was to prioritize conveying the character's emotions/thoughts with expressive features (especially considering how I was limited by the lack of dialogue). It may also just be a matter of stylistic preferences, but I can understand the initial confusion 👍 Nonetheless, thank you again for watching!! Best of luck to your creative endeavors as well ^^☀️

Your tomato avatar is so cute! I am so amazed by how much background building there is in this film - I've always wanted to animate something myself but I know it would be so much work and this definitely proves it xD (But I am still inspired!) This is an awesome look into the bones of the project and there was so many details I had missed. Feel like the next step is to go back and watch the film yet again on half speed to try and catch everything lol I love that you started out wanting the characters to have depth/hobbies/lives aside from each other despite that the film is a love story (some full movies don't even seem to want to accomplish that) - They really come across as deep and well rounded because of it ^^ Thanks for putting this together and answering my question!!!
Waaaa I'm glad you liked the video and the tomato avatar hehe 🍅🌟 It means a lot that the characters came across as well-rounded-- ty for saying so! Also thank you for submitting your question

Not only was Orbit so amazing and beautiful, this behind the scenes video just really emphasizes the time and care that was put in! Thanks for both, they made my day
I randomly came across your video and gave it a look cause the artstyle really caught my eye and I was enthralled. Everything about it, from the background, the character designs, color palette, music, the story of it was just pure perfection. After that I've seen it at least once or twice a week because I'm a little obsessed with it, even did a little sketch of Moon 🤩💖😍 And I'm so excited for any future videos you make cause I'm an official fan now 😁
as the end of the school year approached, a friend of mine recommended this film to me, and it really made me feel like summer was upon us. something about this particular shade of blue really captures that kind of coming of age feel, of youth and freedom. watching orbit, i felt a sensation that was akin to downing a fresh, invigorating glass of lemonade, with the ice cubes clinking around and all. thank you very much for this experience!

Sun boy!! (real) (canon) (very golden retriever energy) He looks absolutely stunning just like moon girl aa!! I totally get feeling disappointed about missing deadlines, either external or internal, and the perfectionism that (at least for me) can turn into a burgeoning feeling of dread. Taking time away from intensive projects is so important, so I'm glad you got to do that!
Waa I'm glad you enjoyed the characters 🌟 I agree that perfectionism can feel like a burden. It's somewhat of a double-edged sword-- pushing you to improve, but doesn't allow you to be as appreciative of the growth you've made thus far. Balance certainly is important haha^^;; That being said, thank you for watching and for the kind words💛

also your story boards are brilliant! I am sorry they feel like a weak point for you. If you ever wanna see how simple/mundane storyboards can be and yet still be successful you should see neil gaimans story boards for his Sandman comic. oop😳 thank you for submitting a question for the video! I hope that I answered well enough, or at least, that the video was enjoyable to watch^^ ☀️
@@mivchoi Loved the video! And your tomato-sona!
Hehe I love the expressions
Thank you so much!! I hope you enjoyed the video 🍅
YAY
IM SORRY SUN GUY IS SOOOO CUTE.
also your story boards are brilliant! I am sorry they feel like a weak point for you. If you ever wanna see how simple/mundane storyboards can be and yet still be successful you should see neil gaimans story boards for his Sandman comic. Dude can't even draw and still was able to convey what he needed to.
Thank you very much for the kind words-- and for the recommendation as well! I will definitely have to check it out ^^ ☀️
Time stamp for face reveal of sun guy for anyone that wants it 7:43
is the morse code says "mors" or "mars" ????????????
ooo not quite-- but I can totally see how that would tie in w/ORBIT's overall space theme! It might be a bit difficult to hear, but the first letter should be an "O" ;-D
@@mivchoi ok is it opal _ _ _ -_ _- - -_ -_-- ? (it deleted some of the morse code idk wwhy lol but was i right )
