Yea, he actualy made a tutorial, but a tutorial for professionals in Blender. I needed to learn abou the program to understand 1% of this video (and I have doubts yet).
Man this guy knows his stuff, I'd love to see him do a beginners series for people who don't know how to use photoshop correctly for game assets, there's lots of videos out there but not many that do into details quite like this one does.
Well, Blender can display much more than just "only the diffuse map". Specular map is a little tricky - Blender uses Roughness(the Specular input has a different meaning there). So, we need to invert it. Switch to Shading work tab(the topmost level, just below the window titlebar). Add(press Alt-A or use menu) Color->Invert node, link its output to the Roughness input(left-click on the yellow circle of Invert node, hold the mouse and move the pointer to the Roughness input, release the mouse button). Now we need the source image - add the Texture->Image Texture node, change the Color Space from sRGB to Linear, link its Color output to Invert node Color input. Load the Specular image. That's it, roughness is set up. Leave the Principled node "Specular" setting at the default 0.5 value, it has other meanings for Blender. Normal is slightly easier: add Vector->Normal Map node, link to Normal input; Add Texture->Image Texture, set Color Space to Linear, load Normal texture file there, link the Color output to Color input of Normal node. You can switch back to the Layoud/UV Editing/Modelling mode, the change is saved in the Blender material. Note: advanced level Blender user can make Normal map using Blender itself. But it's advanced skill, so new users can ignore it for a while to see if they are fine with modeling and modding.
Thank you for these tutorials. I have a whole new level of appreciation for the not only the knowledge but the sheer effort it takes to create a single model. I've always wanted to try but the learning curve seems fairly steep.
Enjoying this series! The only issue you may have is PBR Textures from that site are FREE if you work for the company who's game you are using the textures for, I found this out the hard way when asking the question to them directly, in simple terms, if you are a modder, you'll be libel for copyright claims. Always check Ts & Cs!
how do I do this with GIMP? I am not buying photoshop, so some can explain how to do the texture thing in GIMP would be really helpful. I can't seem to select more than one layer to paste move into my imported texture map as suggested in this video.
Cool one, I add one thing for normal maps usually 25% is enough for concrete and rough metal surfaces Soft details Beyond 40 and 60% intensity you may get too much detail it gonna starts looks like a bunch of terrain.
Quick ?, can u have multiple materials\same type (e.g. 2 diffuse) textures in one object in CS or do u have to shove everything in one texture and material?
Hey! Instead of creating my own model in blender (i have no idea) can I take a model from any website and just make the texture with Photoshop or something? Or maybe edit the car liveries with a template (like GTA V...) Thank you!
I figured it out. really dumb. but when I made my object it was making new layers on the scene collection. Select them all and hit Control+J to merge them into one layer. works now :)
just run one of the rotor shader scripts gist.github.com/ronyx69/20070de77a0dc02fb669be0ff5365eb4 using mod tools steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=450877484 in the asset creator. follow this guide: cslmodding.info/shader/rotors/
I really don`t know what to do in the part of the ilumination texture. It`s soooo complicated, and he even uses Photoshop to make the things. Man, I don`t have Photoshop. It doesn`t is accesible.
Sorry for the frustration! Can you please post about this, including any details like error messages, screenshots and mods, on our support & bug forum, so we can better help you? Thanks! forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/forums/support-bug-reports.879/
Reminder that Ronyx made a collection of reference and materials that are properly corrected for the game, which you can use as base reference: steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=1586722178
yeeeeeaaaahhh this tutorial is about 5 years too late for me lmao im already pretty decent at asset creation. anyway... the community is what keeps this game alive and i love it! edit: also its almost as if the game only uses 7bit colors. at least when it comes to brightness. 50% brightness looks like 100% and only if you go lower it makes really a difference.
I learned a lot from this series but I'm disappointed you did a tutorial with Photoshop instead of a program like GIMP which is avaiable for free. Imagine making the modeling part in 3DS studio Max or some other commercial alternative to Blender...
Were are the normal updates on consoles? Sorry but do you want it to let the game die or something? Were are the updates/DLCs? Whatever, im gonna play some GTA now 😐
Pff, you thought making games was easy? 😭 You can download some props on the workshop, and either add them to a building in asset editor or in the actual game, but if u need something specific, you either have to make them yourself, or hire someone who can do it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Citywokcitywall "It's super easy"
Me looking at extremely complicated and finicky process: "I might give it a go
...someday"

yep, you really need to learn basic somewhere else first. Blender Guru beginner tutorial for example.

awesome, im getting into this kind of stuff recently and this taught me a lot.
Interesting to see you here!

Thank you! :D This tutorial series is amazing! Now I can make my own house and place it everywhere!
XD That one may exist already: it's called a camper! ;P (joke - camper being a house you can place everywhere...)
Thank you for these tutorials. I have a whole new level of appreciation for the not only the knowledge but the sheer effort it takes to create a single model. I've always wanted to try but the learning curve seems fairly steep.
it is always great to see another creator's workflow. thank you for this series!

Citywokcitywall is the goat.
Looks great! Thanks for the amazing tutorial

Lived this, well done!
sped through this tutorial like you had a funeral in an hr
I understand all and I can follow along but it's just so much information and if I were to go to my Pc now I couldn't build anything myself at all
Quick ?, can u have multiple materials\same type (e.g. 2 diffuse) textures in one object in CS or do u have to shove everything in one texture and material?
No, we can only have one material (e.g. 1 diffuse) per object.

whenever I try to apply the texture to all my objects it only applied it to one. please help :(

Thanks, I was struggling with the same thing.
How do I unwrap the textures to be in proportion? Like, a rectangle will show up as a simple cube texture right now, how do you make them rectangles
Will there be a tutorial on how you use the rotors shader? I can't find any tutorials on it, and this series has been really useful so far.
just run one of the rotor shader scripts gist.github.com/ronyx69/20070de77a0dc02fb669be0ff5365eb4 using mod tools steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=450877484 in the asset creator. follow this guide: cslmodding.info/shader/rotors/
@@Citywokcitywall Does it just make the alpha texture work properly? If so, I think I understand now, thank you!
I just want to ask for a word about pedestrain paths for stations and such. There's no tutorial regarding this matter, anywhere.
this is very helpfull for every beginner and optimisation
This is a very good tutorial! I also thought I'd like to make my own buildings. But it looks very, very unfun to do so.
I really don`t know what to do in the part of the ilumination texture. It`s soooo complicated, and he even uses Photoshop to make the things. Man, I don`t have Photoshop. It doesn`t is accesible.
Please help I have a bug where no trees will spawn can you tell me if this is possible to fix?

Can you please add city skylines in android or ios

that website does not spell out anything useful about street lamps
Sorry but my RAM is full and the game fps are below 10...
great stuff, but too fast for beginners
谢谢大佬!!!!
add it for ps4 and xbox please
oh my god this is so complicated 😭

just wait dude
WAY! too complicated...
I just wanna add some yard assets to a house..., a fence, or a plant, or something...but, thanks...
That's the reality of making models. At least it gets easier once you get the basics down.

if the light is gray or white then how to make colored lights?
