A media converter is a networking device that transparently converts Ethernet or communication protocols from one type to another. Typically they connect devices that are beyond 100 meters from the nearest switch.
Media converter work on the physical layer of the network. They receive data signals from one media and convert to another. while remaining invisible to other Networking device.

ഒരു സംശയം ചോദിച്ചോട്ടെ.. നിങ്ങൾ ഇവിടെ media converter ന്റെയും Router ന്റെയും ഇടയിൽ ഒരു Switch വെച്ചു ആണല്ലോ explain ചെയ്തത്....ഈ Switch ഇവിടെ നിർബന്ധമാണോ....
Switch ഇല്ലാതെ തന്നെ മോഡത്തിന്റെ LAN OUT എടുത്തു ഒരു media convertor ൽ connect ചെയ്ത് അതിൽ നിന്നും Fiber വലിച്ചു 350 മീറ്ററിൽ അകലെ ഉള്ള ബിൽഡിംഗ് ൽ വേറൊരു media converter വെച്ചു അതിൽ കണക്ട് ചെയ്ത് ഇതിൽ നിന്നും RJ 45 out എടുത്തു നേരിട്ട് ഒരു PC യിലെ LAN PORT ൽ കൊടുത്താൽ നെറ്റ് കിട്ടില്ലേ...അവിടെ receive ചെയ്യുന്ന place ൽ ഒരു router ൽ MEDIA converter ന്റെ LAN out കൊടുക്കണം എന്നുണ്ടോ...
