@gabriel vazquez social media is a base tool and can be used for anything. I'd like to see some more evidence before I put anything into conviction, honestly.
@gabriel vazquez I do not agree. Rape is a very common crime and you can't imagine the amount of cases it isn't denounced for a Big number a factors. Before You come out with the "bUT woMEn alSo RaPE", bro, stalking women is much more common and so are the extremes of this spectrum of perception of women. I know people who were raped and don't have any proof other than their own word but the mental damage it can cause is there, so empathy and social context is important before we discredit an accusation or even worse, make those people feel like crazy or attention seekers by speaking up for themselves. I love this man's music, I really do, but we can't deny the big possibilty of him being a horrible human being
@@rogeliochavez40 I agree with everything you said except for the implication that we need to believe victims despite there being little or no evidence. Our country is a innocent until proven guilty place. That being said even if they don’t have evidence, it’s no excuse to berate them for not proving themselves a victim. I’m not trying to argue, just stating that we should never stoop down to guilty until proven innocent.
Kozelek is both hilarious and genius simultaneously in his lyrics. Once in a generation sort of artist. Only this guy can make me sit through a sombre 14 minute folk song without a melodic hook and still be so concentrated.
I’ve been to hundreds of concerts in my lifetime and, in retrospect, only about five stand out as being amazing experiences. Those five stand apart from the rest because the performers didn’t just get on stage and plow through whatever album they were touring in support of, with a little greatest hits sprinkled in, then fuck off to the next city. No, those performers got on stage and did something different. They changed their songs up; they threw on a theatric show, with costumes and dancers and shit flying all over the stage; and, most importantly, they interacted with the crowd in a genuine way. It wasn’t just “hey, how are you all doing? We’re Blah Blah Blah.” They told stories and asked questions to the crowd. I’ve never Mark Kozalek live, but I have a feeling he’d push that number up to 6.
That live rant about being fat is downright Morrison-ian. He's very funny and cordial though on the Live From The Public House in Melbourne CD. If You haven't heard "Admiral Fell Promises", get it. It's worth it just for the songs "Young Love" , "Church of the Pines" and "Black Kite", but the whole damn thing is mesmerizing with great guitar. He considers it his best I read. Saw him at the Sinclair in Harvard Square Cambridge MA and a buddy and I called out a few song titles. between songs. He made a passing comment but didn't go off, surprisingly.
Its from the famous wroclaw show th-cam.com/video/BMibGgTaQOY/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/yTw4tB-vZfc/w-d-xo.html He even sampled the crowd saying "wroclaw" and put it in one of his songs. I forgot which one but I think its on the 2nd sun kil moon/jesu album
Is Mark just constantly drunk now? He reminds me of my friend's middle aged broken down alcoholic uncle who just sits around slamming beers and talking smack like this. Sad.
He must also drink heavily before he records because I can't understand half of his slurring these last 4 or 5 records. It's pretty sad too considering what he is or at least WAS capable of. He's become an embarrassment.
Have any of you folks been actually listening to the new stuff? He's making some of his best stuff. The real sadness is that you're so demanding of him and wished he would fit a certain mold you fell in love with.
If you've seen his concerts in the last 2 years you will notice a barrel belly that doesn't get its shape from over-eating/diet.... he's definitely drinking his ass off.
I've rarely heard someone whose music makes them come accross as such a downright nice person. Bit odd. I get a dichotomy from his "fuck off or I'll kill you" face and his superbly emphatic lyrics on Benji.
