    I have used AI since diving over 20 years ago Aladin Air Z was my first, it has very handy information, would I dive with out one, sure but where do you stop with "not needed". Mask, wet suit, BCD, fins are also handy to have. Would i buy a non AI computer, no. I would buy one without the Transmitter if money was short. Then buy the Tx later. For me the added safety of knowing exactly the RGT is priceless and it's handy having it on my wrist as i tend to get overly focused on videoing cephlpods. O)

    AI is not just having your gas pressure on your computer. It also allows you to calculate your Surface Air Consumption (SAC) rate and your Dive Time Remaining (DTR). Two years ago I resumed diving after a break of 10 years. At first my SAC rate was awful, but having this available without needing to do the maths has been great and allowed me to concentrate on it during a dive as well as comparing SAC from dive to dive.
    DTR should be used with caution, as things change very quickly including current whether you feel tired etc. I would prefer having AI rather than not, but it is not cheap, for the difference in price between the Perdix and Perdix AI plus the cost of the Shearwater transmitter you could get a pretty decent computer. That said I dive a Perdix AI!!!

      I think this is a fair evaluation . We have an AI computer (one of the aqualung types) and are considering getting a non-AI computer with a simple SPG for a backup. I think at this point anyone getting in should start with AI. If you're trying to go really cheap, then I recommend another hobby. If you want to be economical hen first starting up, then it might make sense to do non-AI computer and SPG, but I still think it should be a good computer that's not a 15 year old model.
      Having said all that, I think a good model is to have a less-expensive backup computer with manual SPG. Well, that or always do your dive tables... Yeah, Not going to do that on simple recreational dives unless I have to...

    Hi. I disagree about the air pockets trapped making it uncomfortable. I believe there is very little air between your skin and the wet suit. Presides, if the was compression the air would be able to escape from the seals, but these seals would just ensure that you get minimum water flowing into your wetsuit. It would I suppose be a semi.

    Hello Mark,
    I can't say enough how much i love your channel ....
    What do you think is there any dive computer in the market, which not just measure temperature, but also count this data for the deco algorithm? in real life situations if you dive a hot spring and the bottom way warmer than the surface, in warmer water nitrogen dissolving is faster......

    #askmark would you be so kind as to go over best practices for fitting/adjusting bungee mount compasses?

    Hello,
    I have added a valve to my semi-dry to avoid squeeze and that way I stay 80% dry. To start with I had a dump valve too but that proved unnecessary. Comments?

    air integration is useful for new divers like me, after you know your sac rate your brain will know when to surface by looking at the remaining pressure. Anyhow, I have a Teric with AI ;)

    Question is if you’re diving with AI on a twin set is there a way of setting the perdix up to recognise this?

    Wireless air integration?
    Hose less gas integration sounds a little more descriptive. 😆

    Is air integration to a point we’re an SPG could be eliminated from a setup yet?

    • @MastereosTee
      @MastereosTee 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      always good to have a redundant, when your wireless fail.

    • @thegreatneess
      @thegreatneess 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      for recreation, yea you can remove SPG from setup,
      if wireless fail, just abort the dive !
      BUT you need to prepare an backup SPG in your "safe a dive kit " in case wireless fail and you still can do the next dive after mounting SPG

      @@thegreatneess ok thanks. That’s what I was thinking. I’m considering when I buy a reg set not buying a console and putting in an AI

    Hey mark! Got a quick one if you don’t mind,
    I’ve just ordered a new m2m dry suit and I have I’ve gone for neoprene socks & Rock Boots, my current RK3’s are a tight fit with boots on the current dry suit ( which are attached to the suit )
    Will I need to get a larger size of fins to be able to fit over the rock boots ( scuba pro ones if it makes a difference )
    Hope everyone at the company are well! Look forward to Fridays episode

    I find AI is like having a reversing camera in your car. It's nice to have, and it makes your life easier, but if you don't have it, you can do without it by using the old-fashioned method of reversing.
    That said, Now I have it, I'm not buying a car without it..... The same goes for computers. Now I've got AI, I find it too useful a tool to discard. I can live without it, but I prefer not to.
