Dave giving some solid advice for getting into streaming, but also worth mentioning you don't even need a camera. You can do reactive png images, you can get avtuber rig, there's options for if you don't want to be on screen.
Best thing to do is start with what you have, even if it's just streaming directly off a console, and upgrade incrementally the more you find yourself streaming. Before I bought my first capture card, I recorded Nintendo Switch gameplay by plugging it into my Xbox One's HDMI input, then streamed the video from the Xbox to my PC using the Xbox app, and used the display capture to record it. Didn't work for my Wii U, but its proof that theres ways to get a stream setup if you're willing to Macguyver things a bit.
I quit streaming for nearly two years mainly cause of friends, E.G my friend jami or melly wanting me to play fortnite. Men I'd always play whatever my friends liked. And honestly it was one of the things that ruined it for me. I also did some spiltgate......cause again one of my friends in the past loved that game and I thought I'd get in on it. More recently one of my friends was like you should do minecraft with me on stream, its not like you get any views anyway, lmao and I'm like "fuck off." And uhh they're not my friend anymore, wonder why. And so so so many games I thought would be fun to stream in theory and I ended up not liking. Lets be honest, finishing dragon quest journey of the cursed king started getting really grindy and not fun. And I've had so many games like that where I lost the fun value on my end and just end up getting pissed off at. Chrono trigger one of the first games I did back when I did mainly JRPGs started off amazingly too and by the end I was just glad it was over. Oh and not just that but in general letting the numbers, the lack of viewership, ect get me pissed off. I stopped even looking at it as a fun activity and just fell into the trap of blaming myself for what is clearly a cut throat industry where small creators just aren't going to take off no matter how hard they try.
@@JamesP7 Then you try getting big on twitch, I dare you. I triple dog dare you, I've been doing it since I was like 17 or 18 and I'm 24 now. I don't see any of my friends in the bussiness getting bigger. Just because DGR and other streamers made it big doesn't mean everyone will, hate to break your dream bubble but the people that make it are the expection not the rule.
@@PaddedStreamer You are dealing in absolutes. I never said “Every small streamer is guaranteed to become big”, that was the fanfic you came up with. I said that all big streamers were once small streamers, which is a factually true statement, as true as saying “all bachelors are unmarried”. Every one of those individuals began with 0 as the follower count. Just because you are a jaded cynical individual does not mean you should disrespect the hard work and effort people like Dave worked to get where they are.
To add to DGR's conversation about streaming, you need to determine the end goal of streaming. Do you want it to be a hobby or would you want to turn it into a means of making money? I tried streaming at one point to make money, and I ended up hating the games I loved because I no longer played them for fun. It turned into a job that was producing no income. Streaming is not for everyone.
2023 was my year of streaming DGR on a regular basis. I never found his channel until maybe late 2022. But in 2024, I like watching others and mixing him in now and again. I am over the DGR hype.
@@brianinja Well, he always jokes about his skills as a player, which honestly is what i love the most about his videos and streaming, so that was the joke in itself. I didn't mean to be rude or disrespectful, but i understand how the joke could sound like that.
I can say from experience that trying to stream something to get popular doesn't necessarily work. I mean, I even tried streaming this when it launched. It didn't work. There was just too much competition among streamers. Then again, streaming stuff I was passionate about didn't work either, so I dunno. I mean, I managed to gather a very small community, but I can't say that any of my channels have really taken off. Maybe someday. For now, I've kinda given up on streaming. Gonna finish editing a few streamed playthroughs, and then focus on regular let's plays.
I made a level similar to 3:38 but with 100 switches instead. I’m also pretty sure it’s still uncleared. Didn’t know someone else had the same idea but mine is a lot easier than this one.

Dave shows respect to everyone and in turn most of his audience is incredibly respectful. Thats what I love this community!
5:40 Yep, this is what happened to me.
Sadly rare to see a streamer acknowledge this fact 🧡

I appreciate the insight. I’ve thought to try out streaming but my time is limited so I know that would impact my opportunities at first
I got an ad for cheese watching a video about cheese. It's an El Monterey Cheese ad.
11:54 Such a classic DGR_Dave moment 😂
19:05 Well that’s unfortunate 😂
That last level is pure evil

100% agree with the streaming advice.
God bless Dave's patience with quite a lot of these levels, because I know for certain that I would have quit much much earlier.
I can now say with certainty that I am the second (third counting clear check) to beat Challenge Dungeon. I AM AS SKILLED AS DGR BABY
I really needed this streaming advice, thank you Dave
8:05 Shoulda saw that coming Keepo
I've seen this before
I can't help but imagine DGR as a kid among adults on team 0%. Like, good job Dave! He's so cute. Look at him, clearing his little levels.

Please try RMF-NSW-C2G, still uncleared
Happy to see you taking down uncleared levels worth of your skill level now.

6:47 call of war 💀💀
They’re gonna shut down SMM2’s servers too
Boosting bouncing shells was ROUGH to watch live 😂
What happened to P Daddy? Two levels in one video with P switch challenges and he fails to deliver? tisk tisk.
Probably best to avoid the association, given everything going on with p diddy
@@Vaishinowait is this a joke, or what are you talking about
@@ShadowOfThePit I mean it's kind of a joke, I don't know if DGR is even aware of P Diddy being implicated in human trafficking.
11:26 Dgr jump scare
Cant you press up with the bones shell to revive faster?
Wait... If Pepsi and Coke are ONLY options, how are you going to drink water?
There's still meat on the bone, DGR! This new level proves it: 30K-BW9-RRG

Didn't that first level take Dave like an hour to beat?
Need a loud noise warning before you yell NOOOOO!!
What yhe heck? CBT toture dungeon 💀💀💀
Did anyone beat the Usabell level yet?
Omg I played the first level in online coop
Hi from kuwait
Allen Brian Thomas Scott Young Edward
Dave would you consider coordinating with a team such as team 0% to clear all of MM2? I think that would be fun to see play out
Why do so many levels reference George Lucas's early film THX? It's nice to see but why?! 🤔
No views zero likes? 14 seconds? How?
Yeah I I know right?! Bro totally fell off.

Lol

I watched few seconds.
I saved it to be watched later
should have brought the p switch ending into the editor to try it out a few times lol
I tried streaming once. It was fine up until someone showed genuine interest, whereupon I had a panic attack.
I remember watching this video earlier

DGR said hi to me in this stream but it didn’t make it into the video
