A thing about the maid outfits, Butterfly & BC: as Fans and Maidiacs know, Miku -- the 2nd guitarist, lyricist, founder and who worked at a maid cafe -- wanted to show that everyday working "Kawaii" girls dressed as maids in high heels while having fun and smiling could rock as hard as any guy band sweating it up in their hip, poor tortured artists "outfits"... and by showing that contrast (the Gap), it would generate interest, which it so successfully has done! It also represents Woman Power (Equality), which is an important theme with the Maids. A couple suggestions for more kickass female rock/metal bands from Japan: Nemophila (‘Dissention’, ‘Rise’, ‘Revive’ ‘Zen’ live, ‘Ama-Te-Ras’ live, ANY of their covers) Hanabie (‘We Love Sweets’, ‘Be the Gal early summer ver.’, ‘Pardon Me, I Have To Go Now’)
MIKU is the originator of the band. MIKU thought here voice "lacked potency" she says "I want more coolness" so she went looking for another singer to do twin vocals. Here is a video of their first time on stage with SAIKI (she does not like frilly!) th-cam.com/video/tQPIvADL42k/w-d-xo.html So MIKU tricked SAIKI into joining the band. SAIKI says "they told me there were 5 girl members and made me listen to the songs. She remained silent about the maid outfits or there being a pigeon. Then MIKU told SAIKI about the maid uniforms. Before that, they only told SAIKI they were making the costumes, and asked her she didn't like frilly things right? SAIKI said yes, I won't wear anything frilly. And she got "we can adjust it for you in the future, so it's ok." So SAIKI got a sense of discomfort because it felt like things were being kept from her. Then they sprang the maid costumes on her the day before the live. She's omg noooooo, it's frilly....
Everybody says *"IT'S A PIGEON HOLE!"* You deserve an explanation. The founder, rhythm guitar, and main lyricist is Kobato Miku 小鳩 ミク, a stage name where 小鳩 (Kobato) translates 小 "small" and 鳩 "pigeon". In Japan pigeons say "Kuruppo" or "po." Tthis band maybe more than any other will defy any attempt to put them into a box (or "pigeon hole"). Going down the pigeon hole is an experience like a Tardis - it is much bigger inside than it appears from outside. They go harder than this, they go thrashier than this, punkier than this, poppier than this. Stay with them and you'll see. You'll see why their fans are so, well, fanatic. For one thing, the concept of a maid's cafe is that you are the lord or lady of the mansion and you are "coming back home" when you come to the cafe. They greet you at the door saying "Welcome home Master or Princess." They fuss over you, do cutesy things for you, sing cutesy songs to you - except _this_ band of maids will punch you in the gut with their music, or make you think, or make you cry. Then they'll take a short break, Miku will come to the microphone and say "Welcome home, Masters and Princesses" and ask, "Are you enjoy, po?" I've never heard any other answer than *"YEEAAAAHHHH!"*
I think around 45% of Japanese folks speaks English (least of the big 3, with South Korea and China, both at %50 or so) and they are more concentrated in the bigger cities, i.e., Tokyo, Osaka, rather than the rural areas, Po!
Band-Maid. Singular. No "s". Name of the band. 😉 No, Band-Maid are not featured in any Godzilla movie. Yet😉. Although they are featured in the Netflix movie KATE. There are no phones because, Japan as a rule, does not allow photography of any kind at ANY concert, unless specifically given permission from the band itself. By national statistics, less than 30% speak English in Japan, and most of those are in Tokyo. Lol, your husband is funny😂. See you in the next one👋
Please fix your speaking mic and adjust it to match your playback volume. I could not hear you very well then the video started and blew me over very loud. Thanks
@@bones2crush You're just getting started so there'll be a learning curve. In this video the band's sound was phasing really badly - hopefully that won't be a problem with a new setup. You'll probably be recording sound from different sources so balancing them and keeping sound from one source from bleeding into another is the trick. Sometimes even experienced reactors will get a speaker or something bleeding into the microphone. The slight delay in the signal path will make an echo and it will sound like they are in a drainage pipe! I hope you find messing around with it as much fun as I do! "Perfection, no one gets there." - Kobato Miku _Manners_
Pigeon Hole, not rabbit hole. Just like BabyMetal has a Fox Hole, BAND-MAID has a Pigeon Hole. Please! Adjust your levels. You just blasted everyone's ears out when the band came in. Also there's some weird phasing going on with your setup. Some filter is making it's like it's underwater. There are like 4 videos from this concert, so you can't say from her outfit.

Now they show up as Maids for all band business and interviews, etc. and have created a long-lasting, unmistakable, visual band brand. Very cleaver, Miku.
Thanks so much nice reaction!
Thankyou for watching
I think around 45% of Japanese folks speaks English (least of the big 3, with South Korea and China, both at %50 or so) and they are more concentrated in the bigger cities, i.e., Tokyo, Osaka, rather than the rural areas, Po!
Their logo would make a pretty great tattoo, just sayin.
Definitely would
The audio is a bit off. It almost sounds like part of the song is coming from underwater
Band-Maid. Singular. No "s". Name of the band. 😉
No, Band-Maid are not featured in any Godzilla movie.
Thanks
We’re working on it now
Something is messed up with your audio
We are getting new equipment and making adjustments
Band Maid not Band Maids
Show a little respect and let the music run longer than 10 seconds at a time please.
I’m not sure if it’s lack of respect or anything disrespectful on purpose it’s all a learning curve but thanks for the kind words and inspiration
He forgot already?
This band is absolutely amazing
