I have been fishing the choppo and whopper Plopper side by side for a couple of years. I like the choppo better. When the lure lands I like to give a sweeping pull to get some heavy splash and sound. the WP will dip under the water half the time, no ruckus. Choppo makes a ruckus ever time. Plus the WP is not an original design. We had musky lures that, although twice as big were exactly the same design as the WP. Nothing wrong with that, WP is a great lure, just saying.

Hey Debo, just wanted to mention that I swapped over from the whopper Plopper to the Chopo.
Reason being,I had better control of the noise that the impeller made with the chopo than the Plopper.
And with these baits, the noise is everything! At least in my experience. Also, I use a Bass Pro product called the Double Down Plopper, witch as a forward impeller as well as a aft one. I find if one gets tangled with something the other impeller is usually free to spin and thus remain a valid target. Plus I think they star at 8.99 for a size 90.
I have caught a lot of fish with both of these baits. Thanks for a great video, I really enjoyed it!!!

I've thrown the whopper plopper for.years, once I tried the choppo, I never went back, the sound isn't even close, it's a louder plop than the whopper plopper, the hooks are just as good, and the tail will NOT break from fishing it. I've caught hundreds of 4 plus pound fish on it, and it may ding the paint job from fish, it does not mess the blank itself up. So for me, the choppo hands down. Good video

When you grabbed the lunker hunt propfish the first thing that came to mind was "Pop pop ppppaaaauuusssseee". I only have the whopper plopper myself, but I have heard other people in the local bass group that I am in have had success with the Berkley designed version. Lunker fish is well thought thru, but the gap between the body and tail gets plugged in weeds. Once it get plugged up the body spins. The body also does spin if you reel them in too fast. But lunker are more versatile in grass and open waters. Caught some really nice bass With the lunker cuz able to go between weeds and then hit an open area where the fish kill it when it starts plopping. Good vid, didn’t know there were more options out there. Sure too try them out 👍🎣

Tried the Choppo 90 and it doesnt seem to start working properly til I've reeled it 10-15 feet. Every size of Whopper Plopper I've tried(90,110,130), starts working properly as soon as I start reeling.
Really wanted the Choppo to work at least as well as the WP, as its several dollars cheaper, but I'm hesitant to spend another $10 to see if the 120 works any better than the 90.

Love the Lunkerhunt prop fish. Gives a more subtle plop presentation if fish are easily spooked. And yes it's pretty weedless which is convenient in getting into places that the other baits cannot. Another option in the Lunkerhunt brand is the turtle which is slightly heavy but has 2 independent legs that twirl. Much louder plop and somewhat weedless.

I've only used the Savage Gear Smash tail 100 (in firetiger colour) as you know im a Pike fisherman so cant comment on it for Bass. But, for Pike ive had couple of small ones, up to 6lbs. but my buddy whose lure it is (he let me throw it few times, fool that he is) has had Pike to 18lb 6oz. That's pretty big fish hitting a top water and the hooks held fine. Max from savage gear said that the small Metal rivet in the tail enhances the sound and spit calling predator fish. I've just ordered one for myself. I know springs a long way away but there's three spots I fish that are super shallow and weedy. And they have quite a few pike in them and I have a feeling one rolling over their heads just few inches up might still tempt them. we will see.

I've never seen the Lunkerhunt Propfish, but I'd love an update on that. Have you had any success with it? That little bait looks pretty sweet.
The other Whopper Plopper imitators look like just lesser versions of River2Sea's. If they were a lot cheaper I could see buying some. Until then, I'll spend a few extra bucks for the beefier materials.
Great content, great breakdown, very informative.

Fished WP 130 in Black (Loon) for years and many Iowa big bass #5-#6.5. Bought six 120 Black Choppos (Maverick) about 5 years ago when an eBay vendor had them for $4.70 each. Since I do some lure and tackle designing I get particular and always look for ways to improve/modify baits. I matched up the WP130 and C120 tail sections, then modified each of the C120's to have near exact copies of the WP130. Best of both worlds! Never use a split ring on front! C120 @ 7/8oz vs WP130 @ 1 1/8oz means usable on many more MH rods and saves on my old arms! The modified C120 blurping begins almost instantly, so it can be pulsed! Berkley uses sticky Fusion hooks. Ploppers now reside in my archives with one of my fondest memories of a #5.5 LMB coming vertical out of surface with it in its jaw, then head first with it still in its jaw. Nothing better than topwater!

Most of my fish in my videos are from a 90 Whopper Plopper. The 75's are very nice, but I got them at the end of last season and didn't get to try it much. The 110 is great also, so I honestly don't know what one is better, but the 90 in loon color was my first and the fish haven't stopped ever since I tied it on, so there wasn't much reason to try to other sizes out too much. The only size I don't personally find useful, is the 130, and that's mostly just because it's too big for what I fish, but for others it may be their favorite size. I have to say the new 75 is the best looking and most different and I can't wait to try it more come September.

The only topwaters you need are:
River 2 Sea Whopper plopper- bone/powder or loon
Savage gear Lily Ninja - mouse white(they don't black so make your own with a bag o' dye if need be) they make frogs in black but they don't move as good as that mouse.

Don’t know why but I’ve never caught a fish on a whopper plopper!
I lost two of them 😭 but still have one 110 size.

The weight on savage gear is so it doesn’t get stuck above the lure I think

I read about it and it says the rivet is to add an extra sound/squeak. I've caught a couple on it but nothing too crazy. I'll definitely keep throwing it.
