Wonderful! This is one of my favourite arias ever. I particularly like this version and Renee Fleming's - both are amazing!

People talk about Grand Old Divas, and they certainly deserve their due, but there are many fine young people on the scene now. This woman is among them.

She's such a great musician. How about that high C. Nailed it!!!

I wish some of these videos wouldn't cut off the audience's reaction after the end of the aria. These are live performances after all, and one wishes to see the glory of the singer confirmed in what must have no doubt been an uproarious response. Anyway, this is an absolutely amazing rendition. Thanks for posting (next time though, don't cut off the applause). :)

YES final "T" at the end of heart. I'm a sucker for juicy final consonant, especially after a high C.

I agree with bimmerboy87 Laura is an amazing singer!! BUT Danw Upshaw has an amazing energy and electricity in this aria plus she sing that high C like a goddess

dawn upshaw does a FIERCE interpretation of this song. I actually think she does it the best.

She has the clearest diction of any modern soprano doing this aria. My only qualm about Upshaw is the mannered upward inflections nearly all the way through (a lilting, it's scooping really). I like Claycomb's more direct approach.

Is it my ear, or is she often under pitch in mid-voice, and a bit wide of the pitch on top -- the voice splays just a bit up there. It's a live performance, so perhaps its the acoustics of the hall or she may have been a little tired or tight. There is just this feeling that her muscles weren't quite relaxed enough. Anyway, that is all getting picky. Lovely from start to finish.

Laura is quite covered in tone in the mid range as her voice is extremely high ranged and she uses the cover to keep things from sounding to shrill. The covered mid range does obscure the text and this give a flat quality to the atonal ins and outs of this aria. That is why she sounds dull in that area. She is also over singing this aria in forte in the second part. Which creates even more flooding.
