Let us know if you dug this style of video! If so, more will be on the way.
If you want more of this style right now, check out these videos we filmed upon first moving to Japan: th-cam.com/video/h0SqAUHJeZg/w-d-xo.html
Thanks!
The moving to Japan and 711 dinner videos what introduce me to this channel and they are still my favourites!
Keep up the great work!
Love this kind of video...but I pretty much like anything you guys do...so I might be biased 😁
The back thing is called e-stim or tens unit. You can actually buy them on amazon. They’re used in physical therapy.
Kyde, don't sit down, lie on belly!
I dig this style of videos and all of your videos because you show things in Japan that other Japan bloggers never show!
5:44 I've had that Fanta before in Europe (UK, Germany & Poland) and it's Fanta's take on elderflower & lemonade. A refreshing summer drink that I love when it's homemade!
I'd like to try the homemade version! -E
Oh look. The apartment we still haven't gotten a tour of. Awesome video and I am really looking forward to this new series.
The police speed trap looks like the most hilarious thing I've seen. At least its 45 mins of jovial talk. Lol
Yellow watermelon is pretty common here in Texas. I haven't had it in a while, but I see it often in the grocery store. The machine Kyde is talking about sounds like a TENS unit. I think those feel amazing.
Yellow watermelon is definitely a thing, albeit rare and special, back here in the states. I had one at a cookout a couple years ago and it was a delicious melon. The seeds for growing are relatively easy to find as far as seeds go.
I think this style video is a good addition to the usual long form style videos. That's pretty interesting how the police interaction in Japan is a lot different than that in the States.
I love this new kind of format! These are the things I loved spotting while I was in Japan.
Also back pain absolutely sucks, and I hope you get better soon Kyde.
Seeing your video reminded me of when my back got hurt. It’s such an awkward feeling! Hope you’ve made a fast recovery Kyde! I thought you looked really nice in your blue dress and green cardigan. Your experience with the doctor sounded so different, but pleasant. And how great that your treatment was so affordable and adequate! :)
Back injuries are no joke, Kyde. I've been so busy outside of the internet, I haven't been keeping up with you guys like I used to. I hope you're doing better now.
She is better now, but it took a while!
In Europe it's called Shokata it's made with Elder Berry which is actually a tree and the juice is made out of the flowers from that tree.
In Southern Europe and central Europe it's very popular to drink.
People usually make homemade juice with it .
you fiend! Its called "Elderflower"
@@davidc4571 Where I'm from it's called Hollunder so...
@@pjs5950 We're having this conversation in English, and in England, we call it Elderflower!
THIS is my FAVORITE type of video from you! I often re-watch the film from your early days in Japan because I miss the small details of life there. From 1991-95 we lived in Itabashi-ku near Eidan Narimasu (have you been to Hikarigaoka Koen yet?!) I'm so NATSUKASHII !!!
We don't get over to that side of the city often, not sure we've ever been to that park. -E
Really like this type of magazine format. These discoveries of Japan keep me interested. Hope you can continue with it on top of your trips.
I remember subscribing to your channel back when you released living in Japan 1-4. Back then I'm not even sure you guys had 100 subs. I'm so proud to see you guys come this far. I was just entering university way back then and that was one of the videos that got me excited and inspired to come to Japan. Keep on keeping on!
Awesome you've been with us so long! Love to hear our window into Japan helped people make important decisions! -e
I like the format a lot; it's fun encountering a series of interesting surprises as each new topic unfolds.
Hi Kyde and Eric, I watch your videos regularly and love this new style. They are a sort of relaxed, next-door interesting curiosities.
Loving this style of video... it’s great to see you going back to your “roots” for lack of a better word... absolutely love the travel videos but the “strange things about Japan” videos is what brought me to your channel originally... so yeah, LOVE this stuff!
Watching this video is refreshingly reminiscent of the moment TH-cam introduced me to you guys. Bringing back your “old style” of filmmaking makes me want to go back and watch your old videos again. It is like meeting an old friend that I haven’t seen in a while. I do miss the Queen of Darkness intro theme though, but everything else is just perfect. Thank you, Kyde and Eric.
P.S. I hope you feel better soon, Kyde.
Excellent! Hope your back is on its way to being better, Kyde.
"Healin ain't free!" 😂
Hope you guys are doing well :). The white flower is elderflower, it's quite a common flavour here in England!
Elderberry wine?
K&E, if you wanna know more about the static nipples or get a smaller unit of your own, look up TENS unit online. They're all over pharmacies in the US. The icy patches are usually called Salonpas (that's the brand) and they're from Japan, go figure. Also available in the US.
Oh neat, didn't know what they were called. -E
Love the video. The every day details of living in another culture can be fascinating. Can't wait for more!
I watch all your vids. Keep up the good work. 😊👍🏻
You’re so lucky living near Azakusa. I stayed for a week there once and saw the Hanami. Happy memories.
This style of video reminds me alot of your old videos when you were traveling all round the globe, i love it!
Loved every second of this video!! Thanks again!!
Love going to Asakusa when nobody is around especially late at night on my first night in Japan since jet lag wont let me sleep anyway. Got some amazing pics at Sensoji that way.
Yea, its amazing at the right times. -E
Love your low-key videos Eric and Kyde. It's Edelviess flower found only on European mountain tops. Remember it from an episode of Band of Brothers where they run across a German SS officer that had pined to his uniform.
The music/jingle between the stories suits very well (and contributes) to the "little things of everydy life" vibe of the video.
Funny and interresting as always !
I've seen seeds in gardening seed catalogues for yellow watermelon for a number of years here in the states, but have never seen them in a grocery store.
This was awesome! As someone who’s been following your channel since 2013 it’s honestly kinda nostalgic to see you guys make stuff like this again!
Also Kyde that’s one sweet corset 🤣 seriously though hope you feel better soon!
Always enjoy your videos! 1st video of Eric and Kady that I found was at the swimming pool at Eric's parents house before you left for your world trip. Have been addicted since then! :-) Glad you have found a shoe source that accommodates the size you need. My nephew wears the same size shoe, however he's not as tall as you he's 6' 3" and he often has a time finding his size here in the states. Sorry you messed up your back Kady - take care of yourself! That tens unit they use on your back is more intense than the portable units. I had that done to my knees long time ago - and after that treatment I never had knee trouble again. So I hope you have as much success as I had.! Those patches sound like solonpas - the ones we have here in the US are made in Japan. Works really great, I have chronic lower back pain from a car accident and use those patches on a regular basis. Give yourself plenty of time to heal. Last item, your apartment looks very similar to maybe the 1st apartment you had in Japan. Loft bedroom with the sky lite? Same building or just similar style? Drapes in living area look like black out curtains. Did you retire the kitty curtains? Thanks for sharing!
Wow, you've been with us for a long time! We are in a new area in a new building as of last Nov, we need to make a new apartment tour video! The sun comes in these windows pretty strong, we had to upgrade blockage! -E
Love this style.
Always digging the videos no matter what! Totally enjoy them all. Hope Kyde's back is doing better! Are those patches like Salonpas? Like heat patches?
Hope Kyde feels better soon. I've had my back get weird a couple of times and its no fun.
I’ve been watching your videos for quite sometime. I very much enjoyed this video format. Sort of like a slice of day to day life in Japan.
Thanks!
Definitely liked it. Nice addition to your usual style of travel videos.
NEW VIDEO. Yesss you made today that much better. Im Speechless. Breathtaking.
We aim to please!
I'll watch anything you guys make! Love you guys, hope you're well
Loved the little snippets!! Always look forward to your videos!! ❤️
Love then new video. Its fun that you are adding variety to the shows.
I especially liked Kyde's "back" story as it shows how life is different in Japan.
BTW Drove through Fredericksburg today and thought of you guys.
Thanks!
Next time you gotta stop by Carl's and get some ice cream! -E
GUYs that vlog brings your channel to the next LEVEL....awesome
love this very interesting get well Kyde will be watching for your next video ty for sharing
Absolutely love this style of video. You must make more of them!
Will do!
Love this kind of videos. Keep it up! You can easily find yellow watermelon in Asia. It doesn't taste any different from the more common red watermelon. One thing they have in common here in Japan - it's expensive!!! As for the back pain patch, someone has already commented, it is probably similar to Salonpas by Hisamitsu. Great stuff for muscle aches, stiff neck, sore shoulders, sprains, etc. It has menthol and anti-inflammatory properties. I buy them as gifts for family members when I go home.
Wow, what a blast from the past! This kind of video is what got me into you guys in the first place like 7-8 years ago, your "Living in Japan" series specifically. I've always like these types of videos from you guys :))
This was great,I really enjoyed this style of video.
yay
I love this! Your longform travel stuff is awesome, but I really like the little snippets of daily life. This was a lot of fun to live vicariously through. Hope Kyde's back is feeling better! Honestly, under $35 for all that is kind of amazing, says the diabetic in America xD I need to do some research on how they handle chronic illness in Japan if I ever want to teach there. I'm totally babbling, sorry.
I like this style of video !! different and interesting !! .. nice work !!!
Great idea for some compilations! Lil bite-sized Kyde n Eric vids to tide us over
I experience the same lower back pain as you described. It occurs when I adjust my car seat incorrectly and go on a long drive. I also use a back brace to recuperate. It has 4 hard plastic vertical strips. As for the mentholated patch, I think there is a famous Japanese brand--Salonpas--manufactured by Hisamitsu. It is the most popular mentholated patch brand here in the Philippines. My aunt uses it all over her back not just for back pain but also for coughs and cold. :)
Salonpas (made in Japan) are available in the states too.
28:02 Caught a glimpse of TeemKyde tee! Mine is now oversized but still soft and the graphic looks new. Yay, Kyde! KydeStrong!
Loved the video. I'm always up for seeing unusual things.
Love this new format, please make more
Will do!
Cool , I stayed near asukabashi station a few weeks ago ,
Love the new format, for local happenings, but please don't change the way you do your video's when you travel to new places. Love your travel videos.
We will keep the travel videos coming too! -E
Watching since 2011. You guys are great
Love it!!!! MORE MORE MORE PLEEEEEEEEEEASE!!
"one touch could make it happen". Yeh, Incontinence gets you like that!!
I miss your old videos , the reason why I started watching the channel was because of them. I weirdly enjoyed the 7-11 , Mcdonalds ..and the " we deem this is odd" videos.. would enjoy it if you went back to doing some of them from time to time.
Yes. More of this style video. Also, more train videos. I'm fascinated by the Nippon train system. Show more of that, especially out in the country
The trains are neat but I'm not sure what to show that isn't covered by the channels deeply involved in train stuff. -E
ooh nice vlog, new information for me. thank you.
I dig this style as well as the longer travel ones.
Thanks for the feedback! -E
Great idea and great vid!
hello was waiting for a new video happy to see this! love what you do ty
Love you guys!
According to wikipedia soc is the Romanian for the plant it's made from and socata is Romanian for shocked
I didn’t do the question mark, brilliant!
Keep the new format! I loooove it!!! By the way, Shokata is what it's called here in Europe. Elderflower juice is fairly traditional here in Serbia...I know a lot of people who still make it at home... Have a great day! Cheers!
I've been to Ushijima years ago when I was walking to Skytree. So nice to see it again.
that transition guitar hymn is perfect.
Yes! I've missed these short tidbits videos.
More on the way!
This back patches sound like the Salanpas patches we have here which are for back pain. They're made by a Japanese company, Hisamitsu I think.
I used menthol patches on my shoulder, really helpful.
Looks like you herniated your disc Kyde. Happened to me trying to lift a dropped 400cc bike and underwent the same electromajig treatment. Take care and get well soon.
Hi Kyde |& Eric just spotted this video , as usual looks good, the same as all your videos , thanks for posting :-)
You are welcome! -e
Love the video :) I've lived in Taiwan for a while, yellow watermelon is very common there. Btw, I'm wondering if the sharpness of the video has been increased in the camera. It's a little harsh on faces.
This was a few different cameras, actually. A friend from Taiwan recently told me most watermelon there is yellow! -E
Wow, who is the cinematographer, it's amazed. Good job!
Go and find an acupuncturist, and also check to see if they do the cupping. Both worked wonders on my Husband’s back. My Husband is a Navy Veteran and believe it or not the VA hospital referred him to the Acupuncturist.
Thank you for video
That machine is called a TENS machine, it stimulates the muscles and improves blood flow along with briefly relieving pain.
Glad to see kobaton in your new room! He still exists!!
He's with us always! hahahha
Love the celeste t shirt amazing game. Keep up the videos
I once saw a yellow watermelon in Germany, but it was at a Turkish grocery shop ... Love the style of vid!
That Fanta used to be my favorite when I was younger, it was called Fanta Shokata here in Finland though! They don't sell it anymore sadly but I don't remember it tasting _that_ artificial
It wasn't a win for us, haha. -E
Get well sooon!
$30 is unbelievable!
I hope this helps you. I've had back problems (seemingly different than yours) for a couple of years now and when it's bad, it can be debilitating. At my worse point, I was lying in bed literally unable to move due to the stabbing, sharp pain. I couldn't even reach my phone on my night table, directly beside me. Getting a memory foam topper on my bed saved my life! But again, seems to be a different issue than what you're experiencing. Take care.
She seems to be doing better, slowly. I don't think it will be chronic for her. -E
Awesome! Love the format! Could watch it all day! By the way does insurance cost?
Not sure off the top of my head, if we research it will might talk about it in another video. -E
Its "Elderflower" and is very pleasant when prepared correctly, I am not surprised to see that Fanta have made a pigs ear of their version of the product!
I'm pretty sure the soda you drank is elderberry. It looks like that, white flowers. Common in rural Europe.
I like it! I want more!
Will make more!
I have to add:
Oh Kyde I feel you about your back problems! I’ve suffered with back pain for years and only just gotten medical insurance so I started seeing a chiropractor... he is amazing and after only a few visits it’s finally starting to feel better... not sure if they have chiropractors in Japan (they must)... but an adjustment would make you feel much better... and ahhhh yes the patches! They are totally like the icyhot gel and patches here in North America... I find it helps a lot! Really hoping you feel better soon because back pain sucks!
I am sorry about your back pain, I've certainly experienced that, although perhaps not to the degree you have. You mention seeing a chiropractor though, and I have to say that chiropractic is not based in science at all. It's basically like homeopathy--if there's an effect, it's a placebo. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiropractic
get well soon kyde....!!!!!
Get healed soon Kyde 🤕
She's slowing doing better!
That's funny I had a bottle of lemon and elderflower Fanta earlier , was from Poland
So, I was watching this while trying to feed my 3-month-old baby. Eric was talking about the traffic ticket and suddenly, Bea, who has never shown any interest in the TV or screens before, is twisting and turning, trying to see. So, I finally set her so she could watch and she was completely enraptured. I don't know man, I think my baby is in love with you. How am I going to break the news about Kyde to her? I finally had to pause the video, just to get her to eat again.
By the way, I really enjoyed this "snippets style" video. Very fun... and entertaining to babies too, I guess!
P.S. We get yellow watermelon in Canada too. It's not always available, but it is pretty common.
Maybe Bea likes beards! Haha -E
"...finding pants that are long enough is difficult but thats difficult everywhere..."
Me in the UK where 'pants' means underwear: "Wow Eric, way to casually flex"
I love you two hahah. If I lived in japan we’d be best friends for sure.
This was very interesting. It's definitely the small daily life things that are fascinating. Are family doctors a thing there or you have to find specialized doctors for "Internal" and "External" issues?
I enjoyed this a lot as I like the short video style. The reason why I like the short video style (no offence) Is that I find your other videos to be quite long, so I find it nice to have a change from that.
Glad you enjoyed. Just in case you aren't aware, you can watch a bit of a video and return to it later and TH-cam will remember where you left off! I do it all the time with longer videos so I can watch in smaller chunks. -E
@@kydeanderic Thanks for the advice will do that more often.
