The part where he talked about the giftapult was actually partially correct. There was a scrapped weapon that was a catapult type building, used to launch the mercs into far distances. But they scrapped it because they already had such technology to travel them to places.
I like to think that engineer really has no eyes under the goggles and instead relies on his extremely sensitive hearing to make out his surroundings.

TF2 Engineer Facts. Did you know that the engineer was almost going to be added in Clash of Clans? He was going to be the 7th builder in Clash of Clans until Supercell realized that the Engineer upgrading time would be buffed to 600% which if you upgrade a Eagle Artillery to lvl 4, it would absolutely take just 1 Nanosecond to do.
