The original series might be inaccurate but it tried its best in a lot of places and deserves better than this.

Shaka's wars were against Nguni and other Bantu speakers, not Tuaregs, nor even the Sudanic kingdoms, the Fulani, Bornu, Sokoto, etc. Zulus are from southern Africa south of the equatorial forest belt. The Tuaregs are from the Sudan and Sahara north of it. There's a few thousand miles between them. Somebody really needs to look at a map.

Furthermore, the Arabs hadn't bothered to reload their muskets. The Ngoni who had been laying in wait then fell upon the Arabs and killed most of them. Some of the Arab leaders escaped but later committed suicide because of the "disgrace".
