    FV1 has such a warmth to it that FV2 also had.. FV1 is definitely a night, cruise tape. this tape gives me such nostalgia. so warm.. i love SV. rip Baatin and Jay Dee

    Man, the snares and bassline (way clearer than the official release) on this version of I Don't Know are smooth as silk, what a gorgeous upload you pulled out from the magical Jay Dee's box!

      Most likely because it was recorded on (cassette) tape (compressed & saturated high end)

    Yooo. I remember getting this back in 98-99 as part of a record pool. White label joint. This record blew my mind. Still got it to this day. Peace to SV. #dillathegoat

    Bought this white label vinyl at Fat Beats L.A. back in '99. Man, the memories.

    Imma play SV till the day I die. I remember listening to them for the first time man...the mind blowing experience...really sticks with you till the day you die. I think it’s cause it came from the soul, that’s why it’s so special, it’s easy nowadays on DAWs (such as FL or Ableton) to create a “hard kick” or a “strong snare” or even a drum pattern that’s quantized...but how easy is it to create a drum pattern as organic and human-like as this ? How easy is it to create unique memorable arrangements like this ?
    Not easy at all, some would say it’s not even replicable....
    which is why SV is the best group of all time and James Dewitt Yancey is the greatest hiphop musician of all time.

      Yeah bro, i feel like J might of done this himself in his basement where he could sit down and do it his way compared to having a label over him

      Jordan Henderson that’s a fact bro!! It’s the same thing with that Busta Still Shining joint.. the instrumental off the 96 beat tape sounds way different &
      more grimier than the official release on The Coming album.. Still classic tho!! RIP JD 🙏 keep doing what u doing love this channel

    Never heard Fantastic sound so clear! I would love know to why Fantastic Vol. 1 didnt sound as crisp and clear as some of SVs other records

    • @jordanhenderson3307
      @jordanhenderson3307  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably because of the recording techniques and equipment, pretty sure it was straight from the basement onto Cassettes then they just dubbed a couple cassettes. Then some later years digitally mastered.

    • @Topsey2000
      @Topsey2000 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh ok. Once Dilla got SV into a proper studio he should of remastered all of Vol. 1s old songs like he did for I Don't Know and Players. But I heard Frank say he didn't like messing around with old material. Dilla was always thinking forward.

    So happy to have this record.
    I am in the process of moving and I've been looking for a rip of "Fantastic." Do you have the Sudden Impact 12" with the "I Don't Know" a cappella? That's when I first heard them rhyme to the metronome before Jay Dee added the beats! Just amazing.

    • @jordanhenderson3307
      @jordanhenderson3307  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jordanhenderson3307 I added the Japanese singles to Discogs a while ago.

      When I have everything set up, I'll rip it again and up it here.
      Now that I think about it, I wanna say the bootleg you posted were mixes from the Sudden Impact releases. Just remembered "2U4U" was on the "We Be Down" 12". The single was where the "Dr. Love" mix of "Players" came from, except the pitch was slower and subtitled "2 The Beat."
