  • Today I unbox the kit I ordered from Dynon with the Autopilot Servo mounting brackets.

    So wait, when the autopilot turns you, you're gonna have adverse yaw unless you manually press the rudders? Kinda defeats the purpose of an autopilot if you still have to manually push the controls, doesn't it?

      Yes and no. Very few piston planes have a yaw damper. The shallow slow turns that an autopilot will do will technically be uncoordinated but not enough to get the plane "out of whack." Also in 95%+ of flying, it is being used to hold you straight and level where a yaw damper is not needed. Just rudder trim based on your indicated airspeed. Hope that helped -Dan

      @@danielolivermcelroy8320 I'm not actually flying yet, (starting in summer hopefully!) but all the schools around me use 172s.
