Great Video Matt. Would be cool if AFL 23 included former stadiums so you didn't have make them your self. Like surely they could use Subiaco from AFL Evolution, AAMI stadium from AFL live, ANZ stadium from AFL live 2, ect. The option to select former stadiums or older versions of current stadiums for custom matches would be unreal. The AFL 23 Stadium creator is good fun but obviously isn't very accurate, the seats on the custom Subiaco were elevated above the fence when they are normally well below. Id love for you to do this with the Showdown, would love to see the Custom AFL 23 AAMI stadium.
Eagles ochre strip nearly nailed it. But they totally messed up the back with the tri colour tripe complete with red numbers. The front of the jumper had great potential with the Eagles wings shaped like the map of WA. The ochre and orange of the outback. Eagles were starting to play with ochre in their merchandise, but not making this jumper work returned them to blue gold and white. I would certainly be interested in seeing ochre/orange with dark blue wings as a clash jumper, possibly with orange/ochre shorts. I know you don't like blue and orange/ochre together, so they could even have white trimmings to the wings.
The oval is a pretty good size for AFL. It actually is an oval, or more like a mishapen egg head. Pity it can't work for clashes. But its too hard preseason and no one should have to go post season. International rules is played on Rectangle.
The purple looked a lot better in the 1990s. I wouldn't wear that colour myself, but Freo have to stay true to themselves. Gold and brown is much worse but at least Hawthorn embrace it. The anchor looks like a seagull that's the biggest issue. The idea of red and green on each side symbolising port and starboard is a nice bit of symbolism, as is the similarity to the italian flag and heritage at the port. You may also find that it actually gos better with white shorts or green/red. Rather than all purple, which makes it look like their singlets are hanging out.
First get Freo actually wearing purple and embrace the Port that they are actually named after. The moment that Rosich took on CEO they started turning their backs on Fremantle the town, its nautical and footy history and the club. Instead just became a club based in Cockburn trying to sell as many units as possible. Bring back the anchor (but please make it look less like a seagull this time). Perhaps the anchor could be green or red and be white outlined. The Eagles tried the white outlined wings and it looked great. But I must admit I prefer the current blue and gold. If only Freo actually wore purple green and red again.
It isn't Fremantle's original jumper, that was a con by the club to start getting rid of the anchor. One Fremantle team had blue and white vertical. Fremantle Unions had red and white vertical, then horizonal and then a full chevvron jumper. Not the three Vs they currently have. The chevrons went down the entire jumper. Now that's tradition. They folded in the 1890s and South Fremantle replaced them with White and a single red V (South Melb copied them). East Frem also in existence in the 1890s wore blue and white. No Fremantle team ever wore a white jumper with 3 insipid red Vs.
Recreate Derbies? Just have one super talented team that plays the ball (West Coast) and another in lacy purple outfits that try to punch the opposition and still lose by 10 goals. They're Fremantle. Big brothers vs little sisters sums it up pretty much.
That's crazy talk. He did the round arm whack to the chest and Brayshaw ducked into it. Unfortunate, that's what happens when you get two guys that are lovers instead of fighters. A Hayden Ballantyne or Crowley just would have jabbed him in the abdomen or in the nether regions and floored him. Dale Kickett or Josh Carr would have just punched him in the head and knocked him out. I hate all those shows of strength off the ball. I think seeing Brayshaw on the ground bleeding was enough punishment for Gaff. It has haunted him since (or perhaps that's just the way he's always looked). Football's gentleman. But compare with the other players aforementioned aside from Brayshaw. Those other guys are thugs.
@@mattn1 Poor old Freo, they need to stop playing the little sister routine and crying foul. A dirty side that's quite happy to pull hair and other actions that would make Libba blush.
@BDub2024 Maybe go back and look at which team tends to start these fights, Pavlich didn’t do anything to get Gardiner throwing haymakers and it wasn’t Freo who had a bunch of senior players wait in the car park for a first year opposition player in London.
@@mattn1 Gardiner had missed a lot of footy that year with a chronic shoulder injury and he was strapped up like a mummy. Before the first bounce Pavlich ran into his injured shoulder to test it out. Gardiner reacted. Remember Gardiner was only 21 at the time and wasn't used to it. Anyway, Pavlich learnt a lesson from that and turned his career around and became a ball player. So, lesson learnt for Pavlich. Pavlich admits all this in the Backchat podcast interview. I can put the link in if you like. It shines a light on Freo's antics for sure.

The stadium creator has done an incredible job with Subiaco and AAMI stadium, it genuinely feels like your at those grounds when you’re playing there
You should do ANZAC day because they have lots of history, or Collingwood Vs Carlton

Can you upload these to the community in AFL 23 so we can download them?
They’re all pretty much on there, NewAgeSporting has created most of the guernseys and the stadiums can be found in the community
Do the battle of the bridge
you should do battle of the bridge next
which bridge. The narrow's bridge that divides north of the river and south of the river in perth? the west coast and freo heartlands respectively.

I guess Andrew Gaff didn’t get the “play the ball” memo.
