Ugh, there is nothing worse than a slow speed crash into icy waters. I enjoyed listening to how you handled the situation. Having a spare set of gloves was clutch and shows how much you need to prepare for winter rides. Glad you made it home ok. Good advice at the end, I always carry toe warmers in my bag just in case.

Thanks! Yeah. I had the toe warmers too. I should have added them to the end section. I carry them all the time. Yesterday I tried new electric socks. And put them on max. As advertised the battery died at around 2 hours… just about the amount of time I was on the bike. I may consider getting a second set of batteries as I like the max setting. My feet tend to get cold. I will try them at a lower setting today to see if they last longer but still keep my feet warm. Also, this crash ride was also my birthday ride I mentioned last week. 😂🎂

Gene sorry to learn of this misadventure, glad you are ok. Trail 20 mud monster section is a down and dirty trail. Have relatable experiences in the here both summer and winter is now on my dnr list. Think you may have missed a quick turn on to 'higher ground' trail slightly to the west of 20.

I certainly did miss the turn! I will avoid trail 20 in the future. 🤪 so many people have told me similar stories of this trail.
