- Hello and welcome to Episode 4 of the Cat Crafty Knits Podcast! This time I come to you from my bedroom floor, right by the window! The weather in England right now is pretty darn shocking and this was the best lit place I could find to record! In fact it actually worked quite well so maybe this is my new place of podcast residence... we shall see!
Here is the low down of what I talk about this week:
What I am wearing:
So as you can see I may have changed out of my old handknit, into my Revival Jumper by Ankestrick which I wore throughout the episode, and for the rest of the day as it was most definitely what was needed on this chilly day! I have spoken about this jumper a number of times so didn't go into details in this episode but the yarns used are: @thecornerofcraft Sturdy Sock colourway 'Prestidigitation' held together with some Rico Kid Silk Mohair.
New Cast On:
I have started an Elton Pullover by @jojilocat using my Unravel yarns from The Wool Kitchen. This is a fairly simple looking pullover but has subtle stripes that are achieved by striping a strand of 4ply and a strand of fluff silk. This creates a really interesting texture and drape to the fabric and I can't wait to wear it! My yarns are a Merino/Silk 4ply and a Mohair Silk lace, both in the colourway 'Amethyst Rainbow Aurora'.
Designs/Works in Progress:
Firstly an update for the design and swatches I showed in the last episode. I have re-swatched a couple more times since then, one with the frogged brioche yarn - which was a no go, and then with some CaMaRose Snefnug/Snowflake which has turned out to be perfect and I have purchased a jumper quantity of, plus some @sandnesgarn8780 Merinoull for the contrast rib. The actual project isn't on the needles yet but I have started looking at some of the math for how it may come together!
Finally, I take you though my progress with my Lanelands Shawl. Like many of my designs, I have got to the point where I question why I bother designing! I say that semi jokingly, but I do often hit the point where I seem to be spending more time being indecisive, frogging then re-knitting than is sensible. Very often I end up really happy with the final result but I definitely do go around the houses when it comes to knitwear design... or should I say I 'take the scenic route!' as I say several times in the episode!
Anyway, I hope you found this episode interesting. I can't thank you enough for taking the time to watch. I feel like I am getting into the swing of things now and hope that shows in the recording!
Until next time, knit and be happy! xx
