My dog was on Apoquel for a year, it never fully worked. She developed the skin allergies/ inflammation after we almost lost her from IMHA due to one of her vaccines. We are still dealing with the itchies, but I’m so glad I I took her off the Apoquel. I have lost all faith in the Pharmaceutical industry as a whole.

I believe Apoquel gave my baby breast tumors, and other lumps and bumps. It costs a fortune for the meds and then she had 3 removed. EXPENSIVE!! I was just told that if they have any kind of cancer, it can spread and go straight to the brain. My baby was “maybe” diagnosed with a brain tumor and was treated for meningitis and I am just lost. She is NOT the same dog. The tumors removed were benign, and I wish that I never had her cut on.
I, too think that all vets are effing quacks!!

Our soon to be 9 year old chocolate lab has had chronic itching since ,coincidentally given Bravecto , around a year old. It got so bad we almost thought we’d lose her. Finally while in trial stage, we tried Apoquel, but it didn’t work, she got the runs really bad right away . Then we did Cytopoint a few times, it appeared to have saved her life, but now she has monthly seizures. Now I bath her frequently with a moisturizing aloe shampoo and use a vinegar rinse. I changed the old girls diet according to veterinarians recommendation, but it didn’t help. I even got rid of all house plants once but that didn’t help either. Good luck to all, so many dogs with allergies nowadays.

Depending on other people to get anything done, even when you are paying them , is insanely difficult . I do give him a raw diet and that does help. Imma add sweet potato and carrots too. Thank you so much for the video. For those of you out there struggling with extreme itchy dogs and nothing seems to help, Dr Jones is spot on!
My 2 yr old black lab was itching, we tried a lot of the natural remedies without much success. When itching became extremely worse our vet put her on apoquel then prednisone and they did not work. I would like to mention that scrapings and skin biopsy are not reliable for mites/mange testing as we did both and it came back negative however our vet still suspected on top of her already 'possible' allergy issues she had mange. Mange is apparently quit rare and is missed diagnosed often. Our poor girl was loosing hair and declining in health at an extremely rapid pace so she was treated for mange/allergy's and secondary skin infection with antibiotics all at once.... This stopped the hair loss in its tracks. WE may never know for sure however suspect sarcoptes mange in the end (from rolling on a dead fox - why do they do that! but they do--- Gross) with possible allergic reaction to the mites and the skin infection is common secondary issue. Its been almost 4 weeks and her hair is mostly grown back. She is now off all meds from our vet and she is doing well, still itching a little but manageable now. To try get to bottom of the minor itch we did food sensitivity testing and are currently in week 6 of pork/squash diet only and after two months we will start to add one thing at a time back into her diet. Good luck folks, but certainly dont rule out those parasites even if testing doesnt show them. Appreciate your passion to help people help their beloved pets Dr Jones. Will be watching your CBD webinar tonight :)

I started giving her coconut oil baths and what I mean by bath is I just barely warm the coconut oil up take a handful rub my hands together and rub it all over her body until she's completely coated. She has not itched or scratched since. Coconut oil with a miracle for me!

Hi Dr Jones. My 9 year schnauzer is always beset with skin allergies, which I hear is common in this breed. I've tried 50/50 apple cider vinegar with water, F10 disinfectant spray, allergic to poultry so he's only on beef, pork and salmon with lots of herbs, blueberry, pumpkin, red rice (on and off), carrots. He was on Apoquel and it worked wonders ( he stopped itching, licking his paws and back, and going under the bed and scratching his back using the bottom frame but I read couple of medical journals that it is an immuno suppressant and the studies were not long term and there's been cases of liver, kidney and even shorter span of life. I have mobility issues (5 surgeries in 4 years) and due to unemployment, I do not have funds to buy him supplements and stuffs. The vet said he's allergic to environmental pollutants which unfortunately my flat is facing a big park and monsoon drain that leads to the beach connecting to another country's oil refinery. He hates showering, and its a struggle and have injured my operated knees and shoulders a few occasions. I can't do food elimination cos he will stop eating the same kibble regardless adding in pumpkin, broccoli and carrots (all needs to be pureed or he won't touch it), hence I buy salmon (without the chicken meal though they claim full salmon kibble), Nature Pro lamb, and Northpaw lobster kibble in addition to the meats as listed above. Unique proteins like venison, crocodile meat, rabbits are really expensive. I do not know what to do. His private parts have thickened black skin. He's my soulmate though he bullies me but also my ESA who keeps me company during my chronic insomnia and helps me with my social anxiety. Sorry for the word vomit lol stay safe and thank you for your many advices.

I tried many things. Zyrtec helped for awhile and so did changing to a fish based diet. He takes NexGard and Interceptor Plus monthly. Still itched.
Then around September 1st, it was like cutting off a light switch. He suddenly stopped itching. I took him off all meds except NexGard and Interceptor Plus. Still no itching!!

She saw about 5 vets in 10 years and I didn’t figure it out until she had an exceptionally bad reaction after eating a hard boiled egg every day for a week. Dr. Jones we moved from CA to AL and our dog began itching immensely after our move! She had been on all medications to stop the itch but still itches. UGH. In CA it is rather rare, I understand to have incidences of Heart Worm so she never was on this medication but after we got to AL because our dog is on incontenance meds I went to the Vet early and was informed of the Heart Worm in our state. After she started this meds she started itchin like CRAZY. DO you agree this med can cause this side affect?

Yes...my vet says my dog has grass allergies. Licks his inflamed paws, and staph broke out on his belley. Doctor has him on prednisone and an antibiotic. He says it may break out again every allergy season. Our Florida grass is mostly weeds, which survive our hot summers, but are terrible allergens. Please give us an info video on grass allergies. Thanks so much!

My yorkie had an itchy ear at about 1 yr old. We have tried everything with him. Apoquel, cytopoint, Benadryl, Zyrtec, Claritin, ear washes nothing has helped! I'm at a lose with what to do. I'm going to try green tea and apple cider vinegar. I e loosely tried the ACV but I don't have high hopes for my boy.

I’m dealing with the same issue. I believe my dog is suffering from seasonal
allergies because she has all the classic symptoms. I’ve been feeding home made meals mixed with just food for dogs to give her essential nutrients but I’ve seen bumps then they go away. I’m wondering if it’s mosquitoes too. She’s always indoors but when she goes outside sneezing red nose, ears, itching, and I’m wondering if mosquitoes bites exaggerated the seasonal allergies. Just want my girl to feel better. She’s never had this. She’s 8 and the sneezing starts the minute we try to leave the house. Poor thing thinks I’m punishing her when I don’t take her out and when I bathe her.

Avoid corn (maize), byproducts, wheat, powdered cellulose, soy,,, to name a few

    • @gemofthewoods5802

My vet said to get the dog off of ALL kibble. It is full of terrible ingredients. If your dog suffers with yeast infections, you have to cut the carbs out of the food. Yeast thrive on carbs. Dog food bags never mention the percentage of carbs in their food, because if they did... you'd never buy it.

    • @JG-fs2zi

Hills has poor ingredients that cause inflammation. Inflammation is the root to most medical issues. Please stop any foods with corn, rice, grains, barley, soy bean oil, too many peas, sugars, etc. These foods are bad, and cause many problems for dogs and people. I turned my painful disabilities around, and my precious baby's (dog) disabilities around, and other dog's and people's too. Your baby's arthritis pain will virtually go away if you do this. I counsel on the nutrition we need VS what advertising leads us or brainwashes us to believe we need, what big food businesses want us to purchase, what non-educated, in nutrition, Dr.'s and DVM's tell us, and just the simple fact that the population majority are simply unaware, because we trust our FDA, big food companies, advertising, government, and so on, to protect us and to be on our side. But that's why American's, humans and animals, are sick. My dog, myself, other dogs, and other people that cut these dangerous foods out, and more, are happy healthy living proof. Please, also, do not believe everything on the internet. It takes a lot of research to wisely come up with the correct answers. This Vet I like, but the internet is full of opinions trying to look like fact. Be careful. And I think we need to remember, Dr.'s are simply people that carry pride and do not like to admit they don't know. Therefore, they use what they've been told/marketed to them, to give an answer, instead of swallowing the pride and admitting they don't know. But we still have each other's backs. I appreciate Dr. Jones he has helped me learn and research more on allergies, and helped heal my precious baby's allergies. Thank you Dr.

    • @angeliqueruis4520
      @angeliqueruis4520 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

A vetinary explained to me that skinproblems and allergies often go together with bad gut health and a leaky gut. She said that the output must be good from the dieth the dog is consuming. And that a complete home made fresh meal can help a dog’s gut barrier and skin barrier to recover.
Important is the absence of gluten and conservatives as those are gut damaging ingrediënts
And the importance of omega 3 and 6 in the right ratio, as they will help the skin barrier to recover.
She told me this yesterday as in my area we now have home delivery of home made dogmeals and I had asked her wich menu would be a good choice.
So very good question of the leaky gut!

Reason I ask, my son's 14 yr old golden has always struggled with allergies and yeast. We manage it pretty well, but every now and then we have a flare that just goes crazy. Right now, we've tried everything, homeopathic and main stream medicine....nothing's putting a dent in it. His legs are brown, his ears are a mess, and his poor belly looks lavender. He's now opening sores and we're seeing skin damage. I've been researching fluconazole for use in dogs, and it appears to be a cure of last resort. We're very cautious, given his age. Figured I'd ask here, see if anyone had used it or knew how safe or unsafe it might be.
