Making treats or making messes?

- Recipe for mini muffins: (makes 24)
¾ cup whole wheat flour
¾ tsp baking powder
2 large eggs
¼ cup Unsweetened applesauce
¼ cup cooked sweet potato
¼ cup Unsweetened coconut flakes
⅜-½ cup Unsweetened almond milk
-Preheat oven to 325°
-Line cupcake pan with mini liners
-Whisk together flour & baking powder and set aside
-In a separate dish beat eggs for 2 minutes
-Next add applesauce, sweet potato and coconut flakes to egg mixture and beat until almost smooth (may have some lumps)
-Next add ½ of the flour mixture to wet ingredients and mix for 10 seconds then add ½ almond milk to this and mix for 10 seconds
-Repeat last step using the remaining ingredients
-Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown and muffins are cooked thoroughly.
*In addition I added ½ a Blueberry to center of each muffin before baking.
*Bird safe substitutions can be made like nuts, veggies or different puree/fruit.
Topping: (Certainly can be omitted)
1 Banana
¼ cup fresh almond butter
Smash and mix until smooth then top on cooled muffins
*I sprinkled chia seeds on top
I tried these myself and they were pretty tasty.
It just truly warms my heart when they say "What are you doing?" It's always right when it should be said. Then when you said "Oh my goodness", and one of them said "What?" They aren't just regurgitating words, they are actually communicating. It's so fascinating to me.
No surprise to me. Our parakeet only said, “Good night” when he was ready to retire for the evening. He only said, “Mommy shopping” when my mother was ready to leave for the store. No other times, and without prompting (after he learned these things and could speak, of course).
Birds are so tiny, but are so intelligent! 😊

I love that you take the time to make them treats and put them on individual plates. You love and respect these angels as individuals. I would do the same thing. You have also fostered such.a loving atmosphere and it is shared by humans and birds alike. These birds talk and understand what they are talking about. They are so precious. Ahhh! So much fun all those males trying to out speak each other!! Love!! Be careful with your hens. The ladies run the show. They are quieter, but they can be deadly. Ringneck fight deaths are almost always due to a hen during nesting season. Thankfully the males instinctually know this and can fly away the second they sense she is cranky. Great free flight space! A jungle of insane fun!

My partner has ADHD, and one of the things we do together (which really help) is to constantly sing silly little songs, do little comedy routines, refer to characters from books and movies that we love, Etc.
It's really just like you and your birds! It's pure joy, isn't it?! Oh if only the world understood this.
This is love. This is joy. There is so little joy in the workday world, for so many people.
Life shouldn't be about being a dollar slave and endless minutiae. It should be about love and joy. And you and your birds are the embodiment of that love and joy.
