I have been dealing with this issue for MONTHS. It literally broke my sanity. I ordered off ebay and the wrong fan came and they told me the one I ordered went out of stock in the time the wrong one shipped to me. All the others were scheduled to come in like a month, after the holidays where I'd use this machine the most for gaming. I was at my wits end, then I found this video. I was SO NERVOUS to pop the fan out of its casing but I did it, found some dust and lubed the bearing and it's fine now. There is an empty silence where the noise used to be. My sanity has not yet returned but I hope it does with the silence. THANK YOU random kid on youtube, thank you. You helped where literally dozens of other people have failed.

I just did this like 10 minutes ago. I wasn't sure it would work because I thought that my fan had a problem with its rotational angle and that the sound was coming from the blades hitting the case. But I decided to try it anyway and the moment I started forcing the fan out of its magnetic place I found that the rotation got smoother. I took it out completely and applied some grease on the pin and now I have a silent fan once again. So thank you so much.
Also, to everyone who's worried about the metal case getting loose after the process, once you screw it back to its slot, it'll be firm enough and won't move freely

this is because your CPU overheating. Your fan from that side wear out over time. I suggest you do download AMD Ryzen Controller program, after you lubricate your fan. And set VRM current down from 45 to 44 or 43, and limit your temperature to 80 degrees from 105. It may help. My fan started rattling again even after lubricating. So I made some little pefrorations just against that fan and used AMD Ryzen Controller. So now my CPU works with temperature up to 75-80 degrees max. Sorry for mistakes, im learning English

I had the same noise problem, so I followed every single step of this free tutotial and I managed to solve the problem as well. When in need for removing the blades from the coil-housing, I used a flat-blade screwdriver (with feeling) instead of bare fingers and it worked properly (even if I guess two flat-blade scredrivers would work even better). I did not have any lubricating oil at home, so some WD40 worked fine too. The blades slits were also quite clogged by a lot of dust, so blowing them with some air was compulsory.
Last but not least: your ASUS laptop is assembled with two fans. BUT DO NOT TRY TO REPEAT THE PROCEDURE IN THIS VIDEO WITH THE OTHER FAN!!! Its shaft is not free so it is very likely you will damage the blade-case severily !!!

With this video I managed to clean my coolers on my FX705DU, but I needed to remove the heatsink as one of the heat pipes goes under the gpu cooler, with this ocasion I also replaced the thermal paste which was total garbage and solid not paste, it took me 20 minutes to clean the damn thing.
The hardest part was removing the fan from the cooler, I needed to cut all the tabs on the cooler to release the upper metallic plate, than tried to push the fan out like in the video and it didn't work, feared like I am going to bend or brake it so I found some thin tabs that could go under the blades 1mm thick (you can buy some of them in poundland in the gardening section) pushed 2 of them on on each side than pressed with my nails on the other side like in the video and the blades were out in a second with no damage.
What I can say it was really dirty a lot of dust in it, put some oil not a lot but enough, mounted everything back, and used tape to hold the top metal plate because I cut the small melted plastic tabs used to hold it, and now everything is good and silent, but what I have noticed, the fans are bad quality and badly centered, spinning it by hand I could hear it how is not properly weighted and making a dragging sound in a specific point of the rotation. Asus used cheap fans.
I used Arctic MX-4 as thermal paste, now the temps dropped with 5 - 10C which is nice, idle temperature is 35 - 37C.

Hello, just wanna say thank you for this vid, my TUF FX506IU started to have the same fan rattling noises back in February and it was getting louder to the point that hitting the area near the fan no longer suppress the noise and only made it roars louder.
My laptop have never been opened before so this was kinda nerve-racking to do. One of the most worrying thing was how the metal cover for the fan has to be opened, thus breaking the pins that were holding it in the first place. I got to the fan blades, pushed it gently until it clicks and then remove it from its place and lube the rod inside using the same lube/oil that you've used on your video, the shaft were also oiled like what you've done on the video and then i reassembled the fan back to the shaft. Fortunately the metal cover for the fan still clicks in its place even tho the pins seems to have broken when i try to open it from before, I screwed everything back to it's place and boots up the laptop.
Needless to say, there's no more roaring or rattling noises came from that fan, felt really weird to hear it silent again after enduring the rattling noise for about a month. Thanks again.

Ok, great. Tested it on Asus FX505GM and now it is more silent.
I've used some vaseline on the magnet and inside the shaft bearing.
Note: don't force the fan when pull it out because it will bend, instead use some hard plastic / knife, two pieces, put bellow center of the fan and pull it out.

I u screwed the back cover but all fan screws were stuck and I couldn't remove them.
Pls help me figure out how to unscrew them and thanks

    • @user-jh6kx1fw9h
      @user-jh6kx1fw9h 3 ปีที่แล้ว

It's REALLY difficult to open this laptop, mine is FX505DU. The screws CAN come out, perhaps turn them slowly, slowly at the very end until you feel the thread come off its very end; then you'll know that they're loose - something like that. Once the screws are removed and/or out of the thread, the fun starts. I used a somewhat thin cardboard business card to GENTLY slide (I think!) from the front-side and front... Somewhere you'll find a spot between the clips that are holding it. It's DIFFICULT not to damage the plastics, or not to leave any marks... Only then, after making a small gap, was I able to slide in a slightly larger plastic card and separate a clip, some clips... Then it's kinda possible to use your hands and GENTLY get it to pry open. Just... patience and skill - and you'll be able to do it!! :))
EDIT: Basically the clips that hold the cover are at the front and sides and the back, where the vents are is what's free. Hope it helps!.. Once you'll have it off, it's easy to see what's going on; but, otherwise I found the system to be pretty retarded, meh.

Okay, mine is Dell and i had already sent it for a repair because of the Fan noise issue, they said the fan needs to be replaced, had to pay about $50 ( im a student) . They did fix it, but its starting to happen again, this time im gonna buy a screwdriver set and open my laptop to investigate the issue and find a solution myself, i don't trust the service centres anymore, first they took a month for a simple fan repair and charged double the price for a single fan and pretend that they are helping us, the fucking Mechanic just straight up told me that, he couldn't find a Fan in the market so he had to order it from dell, which is why it costed more, like wtf???
I'm done with all this BS, tryna fool their customers.
