The noob is the one who relies explicitly on established sets, at the cost of the role that needs to be be fulfilled. Note that using established sets isn't a bad thing if those sets fulfill the role, but it's a bad mindset if you look at a pokemon and only see those specific sets, without a spark of creativity allowed.

Since you have encore to get infinite boosts, you should go with bulk up instead of swords dance to also have 4x defense
The opponent can always switch mon. That's why swords dance is usually preferable, to maximize chance of a sweep.
